If the purchase was registered then you should have no problems, just go back to said item and where the price was shown on the button, there should be a tick.

I have a problem with my gamertag. It hasn't be active for quite some time now as it sits on my friend's Xbox. He's been using his for months. Today I decided to use my gamertag and try to sign in, but I get this messege:

Your Xbox LIVE membership information is not valid. Please use a profile that contains a valid membership or recover your profile from Xbox LIVE.

What's the problem? I went into Xbox.com and tried to sign in with my email that i registered with, but it directly linked me to make a gamertag, so then I typed something random. When I went back to the xbox and tried to recover my gamertag (the original one) it told me it was associated with the random gamertag. What should I do? I want my original gamertag back.

Does Xbox LIVE erase all data of a gamertag after a certain period of time? I don't want to buy a membership and find out I can't use it on my old account. Any help appreciated.

Just a note, it's E74 not E47.

So Kaj, you sent your 360 off to Microsoft yet?

E3 is up soon, so i'm looking forward to see what Microsoft have install for us smile.gif

I sent off for the coffin a couple of days ago. Just waiting for it to get here.

Excuse me for living, I read it in an email and didn't have it open, so I wasn't really sure how accurate that was.

I spent most of my day off getting the Xbox from the Craig's List seller, it had no parts at all and I had to talk him down to a firm $50 USD asking price. Shopped for the controller (wired) at $19, the composite/component cable for $10, which is the same as the USA Walmart price in their markdown rack! Damn! hahaha

I didn't know, I went to the pawn shops first.

I also went to GameStop, that was my ONLY ASAP option for the freaking massive proprietary PSU.

The PSU incorporates some signal indication circuit/LED and I was told maybe a spike protector, however, it's highty suspicious why the Xbox needs this thing and PS3 doesn't.

I'm pissed; it's $100 here to get that and the used one, of which they only had two, was $43 with tax.

Man, spendy crap.

PS3 uses a grounded PC power cord, no fuss, no muss,

The HDD is $80 for a 60GB, nothing like laptop drive prices for the PS3.

I plan to go back to Craig's List for that. Can a USB card be used for memory in gaming? I wish it would, if not

Yeah, that happened to me quite a while ago. I know you're probably not going to like what you hear but that means that someone hacked your account and changed the e-mail and password.

That's what happened with me, it might not be the same problem for you, but I'm damned sure it is.

@Rebel: Thanks. I'm about to ship it off soon.

I got my system presently and I'd like to try these ideas about geting past RRoD since he claims it worked fine for a day, but right now, I get all four rings lit, then it goes down to three of them. I'm hooking up a display next to see what I get!

Wait. So what you're saying is. You recently bought your xbox, and it already has RRoD?

Now what "ideas" do you have about getting around the RRoD problem? If it's the Towel Trick. Just don't do it. Either send it in, or use the

for it.

I tried some tricks back in the PS2 error days, those partially worked, but did not hold up, so I have serious doubts but this thing does look dirty. It's a bricked, used unit, in other words, sold cheap because it had the RRoD, I bite the bullet, being broke ass poor at the moment. An early B day gift if I get it working by August tounge.gif

EDIT, OK, update, got the system hooked up, the controller is flashing a complete green circle, the GTA4 game was inserted, which preempted the main RRoD flashing, however, it came on soon after the initial disc spin-up.

I put a USB stick in but can't tell the extent of use there. I finally got a display output, initially it was not. Typically a TosLink dongle would light up if there's a signal, sometimes that is in the menu options but most know the cabling has it's own HD/Analog TV out switch.

Worth noting is that even though I only get the Error message screen as shown above E74, it is now only one flashing red light on the power indicator, what's that telling me?

Dope. Are you trying to say I won't be able to get my Gamertag back? Do you know what I can do to find out what email it's under now? I'm disappointed with this since I worked hard to earn some gamerpoints on that profile. Any way to report it? I rather have the whole gamertag deleted rather than the f*cktard enjoying it.

Sorry to DoublePost, but the current tests show I had lines (dotted-spaced) going from top left to lower right, and no readable text after turning the Xbox on and off repeatedly, and placing at different angles. I assumed maybe the cord was bad, but I got a Toslink red glow when it was showing video. But now I've lost the video output and am back to three red lights. I think this maybe a case of more then just dust in there, I hear something rattling internal. Something small, maybe the plastic tab, for all I know, really.

With this, it was a gamble, I know, but could get it replaced free too, and get some 360 gaming in, online, what not. I like you can buy online hours with the card system.

Most claim it's the age old heatsink issue, for the GPU chip. I wouldn't doubt that. I had also checked the fans to make sure they're working. You can tell it's getting hot after mere minutes being on! I have to say, the PS3 gets hot too but I think the fans are more powerful, from the factory

@ Calidrugs:

If you really want your account back then I would suggest calling 1-800-4MYXBOX just tell them that your account has been hacked and you need it back. They'll ask for the Gamertag, most likely the serial number of the xbox you created the account on and many other questions. Soon after they'll allow you to change your email and password and many other options to keep you from this happening again in the future. Let me know how it works for you.

@ Dope.:

Thanks for the info, I'll try and do that later this week since it's on my friend's Xbox. I won't need to have a Gold membership to do this, right?

No you won't.

Oh, it seems I'll be able to ship my xbox on the 17th! I received an e-mail from UPS stating this:

"This message was sent to you at the request of MICROSOFT/UPS SUPPLY CHAIN SOL to notify you that the electronic shipment information below has been transmitted to UPS. The physical package(s) may or may not have actually been tendered to UPS for shipment. To verify the actual transit status of your shipment, click on the tracking link below or contact MICROSOFT/UPS SUPPLY CHAIN SOL directly.

Scheduled Delivery: 18-May-2009"

Now does anyone have any idea as to how long it takes for the repair?

Oddly, looking up some site info, the RRoDeath as attibuted to the GPU is covered on Wikipedia in a very interesting article.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_tech...problems#Causes

One help fourm poster says that basically one red light or two equate to the same thing. First off, heat sink on the GPU, heats up beyond range and shuts down for protection, I wanted to confirm this because my video output was not working, or showing moving lines as mentioned.

I wasn't sure the cable wasn't effected perhaps, it is used. Anyone get the same?

Here's a 40 min fix link, I've got dialup at the moment though, so vid viewing later...

If you really wanted to figure out the problems you are having try looking at the actual Xbox.com website. They have a lot of Q & A topics that cover basically everything you need to know. Here, I'll be so kind to link you. HERE

I'm hoping to not join up with countless other boards to try and find answers, the YouTube clips can beat one's head in, some try to inform while doing not much of anything.

I'd been looking for some rather particular findings, as my Xbox is dated March of 06.

During the time of release, the specs and issues tend to differ.

I am wondering specifically of those HERE who have worked internally on their machine.

I assumed there were a few of you guys, but I guess not so many took apart their rig. If you leave it on with the three red lights, are you noticing the machine shut down? I can see it's getting hot, but nothing more then a certain level, with the fans on high.

I checked the site, it just says mail it to MS if the PSU is a green LED, and mine is.

Bump to #1

UPDATE, got PMs over the specific drive (HDD) requirements, I am thankful for all that, I assumed the system could format a blank laptop SATA drive, in the same way PS3 does. I see they tried hard to circumvent those efforts and put a nice charge on the upgrade option.

It's a slap in the face considering RRoD troubles. The base units alway marked down then requiring many other upgrades to make the final system.

Well, rant aside, I sent off funds for a WORKING mobo for Xbox 360 and that one has drive issues, so hoping my drive is not a factor, it will substitute.

Did you guys see the YouTube videos for the Playstation PS360 Xbox mods? Made to be joint systems of unequalled power? I thought so, but no. One is just an Xbox modded to PS3 case! Interesting project, but many denounce the effort and cost. Cool factor goes to the multi lighted wired remote though, one mod I'd love to do

I sure as hell wouldn't want one. I like knowing I can have a big screen while playing & I don't ever use the MSN part/message part. I just go on to play & sometimes end up using my mic and that's about it.

I just got my 360 back from repair, cost me £40 for a new drive to be fitted, pretty cheap imo icon14.gif

Yeah, just had a look at the XBOX LIVE status and there's some problem with billing systems and seems like the whole live has went down to fix that.

http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/xbox/xboxstatus.aspx

Its pretty weird because it says that LIVE itself and everything else is working fine.

Ok, cool. Thanks for that info man. So we shall expect to go online later I suppose?

Maintenance perhaps? Servers require them you know.

Please don't talk in such a patrionising manner towards me. I just made an inquiry. I realise maintanance goes on but I wanted a little more detail, like RockstarFan provided. I also wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this and it wasn't just me.

I only have Live about a week.

Ah so that's why I can't buy MS points, I thought it was on my end.

Edit: Billing is back up now, just waiting on Xbox Live itself.

Anyone still having problems purchasing things? I am mad.gif .

They're probably still working on the billing. They probably put live back up to avoid loads of complaints.

Either complaints or a backup of orders that they have to give out as well. I'd give it a good half a day or even a full one if its still not working, let them get sh*t in order.
