Official Xbox 360 Topic

Anyone know where I could get a list of DSL compatible routers that'll work with my 360? I've had about three that will work with the 360, but won't work with DSL/my PC.

 

My PC is a Compaq Presario, but I might use my sister's Dell soon, since it's not being used for anything.

As I said, my internet is DSL, ISP is Ben Lomand (Click Here)

My 360 is a Premium, and I haven't changed any of the IP/gateway/etc settings.

 

If it'll work with those conditions, then I'll be happy to buy it. Or, at least give the name/brand/etc to my parents (gotta love Christmas.)

2. When I want to use the remote for my PC, does the 360 need to be on? How does it work with the PC otherwise?

 

3. Is it good? For $20, if it can adjust volume and change channels on my PC's Media Center, that's good for me.

Wow, I am really upset with the Frontlines demo. Controls seem odd for me, and it sucks you can't change them. Non-linear battlefield idea seems like a cool idea, but I quit about ten minutes into it.

I finally renewed my Gold tonight. After not playing any game online since Spring, I booted up Halo 3, entered a Team Slayer on Sandtrap..and f*cking dominated, the first time I ever played H3 online. Played some more Sandtrap, then went over to Snowbound, for a personal, smaller match which was very intense. One guy snuck up on me using Camo, I barely caught him in time and won. Whew. Then I switched over to COD 2, and after a rough match, had some really great ones. It's so f*cking great, that two years later, I can fill up a server with plenty of people in virtually no time. And there was pretty much no lag, no timeouts, none of it. The game is possibly more active now then it was two years ago, and even better online thanks to all the patches. And the matches themselves...f*cking amazingly tense. It was so close and personal, and there were literally a dozen or so times where I nearly died but quick thinking and of course my trench gun saved me. The most recent map I played on before signing off, was Carentan, France. The last minute I was stuck in the second floor of a house, and it was so intense as I fought off wave after wave of players, in that tight confined area. There was one moment where one of my teammates, not more than a few feet from me, got absolutely torn to shreds by an assault rifle. It seriously felt like I was playing a part in Saving Private Ryan 2 or something. I've been playing this game for two years, but moments like that still excite me. I might play some PDZ later, I hope that one is still active, but I have a feeling it is.

 

All in all...I gladly pay for this service, and I can't wait to play some more. That's just my whole gleeful Live anti-rant or whatever. I really can't wait to try out COD 4 online too.

Who else has had a 360 game disc crack?

 

I now have two disks with cracks on the inside ring. One is Skate, which is beyond repair and is now worthless because I definitely will not put a ticking time bomb in my 360. Dirt is my other one, which has a super-super-small crack, but I worry it will get larger.

 

After reading on the official xbox forums of many people having 360 discs cracking on the the inside ring (regardless of vertical/horizontal position of 360), I think it is a serious problem. One theory that I read and think could be right, is that the discs get hot and expand while in the 360, and when you put them back in the green DVD boxes with the super-snug circle thing that holds the disc, the discs contract and crack.

 

SIP YEK NOD suggested that I put superglue within the inside ring of a disc with scratches that do not reach the data-holding part of the disc. However, I really do not trust myself with doing something like that. I will, however, use disc sleeves instead of the boxes, now.

So, I've been considering buying GH3.

 

After having mashed the shoulder buttons and triggers on the 360 controller like a moron for several hours to the tunes of Tenacious D and such, in the GH3 demo, I decided that what I needed to take a step up in my career as a professional guitarist was to actually get a guitar... -controller. In my world that means slashing out €90 for GH3. Real guitars are just... meyouh.

Do you have CoD4 yet? Cuz that's a must have. As for driving...well, not sure what kinda driving games you like but PGR4 might be to your liking. I suppose the best thing to do is check out the demo.

Found a 4 month old 360 with 2 games for $550 on trademe ( like ebay ). I put a bid in for $200, might be able to get it for $400.

I've also already got PGR4 and Forza 2 on the list. I'm also thinking about adding Test Drive: Unlimited. Rented it once and it was mildly fun.

 

Still haven't found a 360 compatible DSL router.

That is the official list of compatible routers. You just had to google it.

Only problem with that list is, it doesn't mention whether the router is DSL compatible or not.

 

And don't tell me it doesn't matter; I've had three or four routers that won't work with DSL.

EmoPat, DSL is Digital Subscriber Line. It refers to a high speed internet protocol. Like cable internet, sat internet etc. DSL is sent over the copper wire of your telephone. All those routers do that. Basically, if you get broadband you are getting dsl.

Infection on the Tower and Urban maps are really good, and Team Killcount on Desert is also great. When playing mp games I usually use this playlist of songs:

 

Collective Soul - Gel

Collective Soul - Shine

Nirvana - On A Plain

Alice In Chains - Brush Away

Alice In Chains - Frogs

 

And a few other ones that don't come to mind. These songs have that winter feel that I feel really works well with the whole thing, especially if you're actually on a snow map like *Tower or one of the COD 2 Russian maps.
