You can't mail your 360 out without having a gamertag to register your 360.

Why not? I don't understand why they need anything more than my Xbox's serial number and my e-mail. That should be enough to register my Xbox with Microsoft. Gamertag and all that should only be necessary when registering for Xbox Live, which I don't want to do until my God damned Xbox is fixed. The only reason those greedy assholes at MS force people to register for Windows Live and Xbox Live and all that other bullsh*t is to increase the number of registered users of all their sites and services to make Microsoft look good.

Ive been waiting to play operation flashpoint for a year and a half, still no patch and going by the flashpoint forums it doesnt look like there will be one.

MS announced last year they haved stoped updating the BC list.

I'm mad about having to sign up for a gamertag because you need an Xbox to use a gamertag, and right now, my Xbox is broken. So it's just really annoying to have to make a gamertag before I can get my Xbox repaired. It's just stupid and unnecessary at the moment. And I'm also just being pessimistic because I'm pissed off that my Xbox broke on the day I was going to get Xbox Live even though I've taken good care of it.

My 360 finally stopped working, even if I use the towel trick. I ended up having to request a repair on the phone since the website said my console wasn't registered and then wouldn't let me register it, the guy cleared that up and sorted it out for me.

 

Should have it back in about 2-3 weeks, shame since I got two new games only a week ago .

 

Also, I got myself a pair of Turtle Beach X1 headsets, they're brilliant.

It must be different in other places then. I don't understand why. Maybe because I did it online? It's really been bugging me, parties are broken. Sometimes I can stay in a party for ages, but sometimes its constantly kicking me out. It shows up on my screen that everyone else has left, but they say I just randomly disconnect. It's happened to other people aswell.

 

Hopefully MS know of the problem and will patch it.

The smart thing to do would be to...take it back to where you got it. Ask them if you can get a new one and maybe also get a warranty from the store with it. Also that pic is unnecessarily just to show a red light that everyone has seen before.

 

 

Also thats only two red lights, not three so it's a hardware failure I believe. About 360 becoming obsolete in 2009. Haha I doubt it, I've had mine since last year, running nonstop for excess of 48 hours and no problems at all.

Had it not long ago, we had a party of 4 and on my screen it said 2 had left the party but on their screen it said I and the other guy had left. Strange and annoying.

Umm..its 2 red lights. Not RROD which is 3. And yes, I've had it before and to be honest with you it didn't bother me that much because I knew I'd get free repair and I didn't have any games that I really had an urge to play on around that time. Not to mention I got a free 1 month gold card when I got my xbox back. Now I always pull out my 360 when going to play so it can ventilate. Hell I even have my mouse detector on top of it and my other control while playing and I've not had any problems since.

I really dont care, don't play much now anyway since I got my L's. I was hoping if it was going to fail it would earlier so I ran it like that. Its never even gave a hint of failure so I'm confident. Do I not have a reason to be? The rate of failure isnt 100% so its not something thats unavoidable. It happens to some and doesnt to others.

I don't think it does mate, since you're not singed into XBL when the console is switched off. It doesn't even continue downloading while you play games online.

 

Whenever I need to download something, I just leave the console on and busy myself with something else.

Something I've been wondering as a relative newcomer to Live: Does DLC download while the console is off?

Because I don't think I can play long enough for it to download.

I don't think it does mate, since you're not singed into XBL when the console is switched off. It doesn't even continue downloading while you play games online.

 

Whenever I need to download something, I just leave the console on and busy myself with something else.

I'm pretty sure you can put your 360 into a sort of Hibernation mode for Downloads. When you turn off your 360 whilst downloading something, it turns everything off except what's needed to download the file. Once the file is complete the 360 automatically turns off.

 

It's in System Settings somewhere, just poke around there and see what you can find.

I gotta agree with Digital Murders. I was really surprised when mine broke down, because I took perfect care of it. Mine was 2 years old when it broke, and had never showed any signs that it was going to break. Never overheated, never any problems loading games, fans never went extremely fast for no reason, never chewed up a game disc or anything. Whenever I heard of people getting the RROD, I'd always think "Well, they probably took bad care of their 360. Serves the dumbass right." But sure enough, the piece of sh*t breaks down on me. Now I'm stuck here with a new copy of Fable 2, a new Xbox 360 wireless network adaptor, Plantronics Xbox 360 headset, and an unused 3 month prepaid Xbox Live Gold subscription card, waiting for my 360 to get sent back to me.

now this is for the Xbox 360 fanboys out there, i FINALLY got a next gen console, the Xbox 360 because of price differences. i have played on a friends xbox 360 and loved it, never had a problem, thought they were pretty nice. this coming from an all Sony guy. i got my Xbox the 24th. on the 3rd i just happened to get a E 74 hardware malfunction code and the console was then a paper weight. i called microsoft and they were very good and it has been sent back for the repair, but why is a brand new console already imploding? hell my NES is still playing games over 20 years later, i have to say that i will probably never buy another Xbox again, which sucks because i believe Microsoft is an amazing company and has done very well foritself, but frankly, Xbox 360s are sh*t .
