I have the urge to download it, but it it really worth downloading without being able to access LIVE? Oh and I heard that even if you connect or don't connect at all to live up until the 19th, someway you could get banned? Any truth behind that?

Er, no.

They can't ban you if they have no proof you've downloaded it, and without connecting they can't tell if you did or not.

Well they may be able to track when you updated through Live even if you don't connect until the 19th from system logs. And if you updated before the 19th and aren't on the beta list, they could ban you.

 

 

Trust me, they won't though. The amount of people who have downloaded, with the amount of money they spend on Live subscriptions and MS Points, Microsoft wouldn't make such a stupid move and lose that revenue.

Once installed, what if on the 19th you don't have the ability to to connect to Live (as you can't right now with the leak) which means no real update? Wait, is this update forced to connect to online anyway? Or can it be done offline as well?

And if they don't allow 360's to connect if they already have the update, see the first sentence.

The way it looks? Damn, way to put it down when you really have no clue. The new dashboard is extremely smooth, I haven't experienced any lag navigating through it, and although most of the themes look like bullsh*t on it, it isn't all that bad.

I really like it.

Well, I have yet to use it so I cannot exactly comment on how it handles, but from what I've seen from screenshots and videos, it's nothing I'm thrilled about. But hey, whatever, maybe its for the best. Sure would be nice to get rid of that annoying menu lag.

I was wondering, I want Xbox Live but I don't have a modem... My bedroom with my Xbox in is directly above my PC room, if that helps.

Drill a hole through the floor to the ceiling of your computer room.

 

The ethernet cable might be a bit of an eye sore if you don't cover it, but it's cheap and effective. Just try and line it up so that the cord will be against the wall in both your room and the computer room.

Good point. I forgot to mention, I didn't mean just drill a hole in the floor. It's a bit more complicated than that.

 

Of course, I wouldn't really know when it comes to stuff like this. I've routed cable from one room to another in my house through the crawl space, but we have no second story, so, yeah. Hardest thing I had to get through was the sub-flooring, and that's just plywood.

It's probably cheaper to buy the Xbox disc rather than fork out extra money to buy it off Microsoft via Microsoft points.

Yeah, unfortunately the 3 year warranty only applies to the RRoD, so you'll have to pay to get it fixed.

Yeah you have a problem with the GPU chip. It happened to my old 360. If you still have a warranty you should be good but if not then you may have to pay $100. The 3 year warranty doesn't apply with this.
