I've done something quite stupid or been allowed to do something stupid thanks to MS, finally was able to install the "leaked" NXE so I was snooping around the new layout and wanted to see that you can choose a longer list of resolutions. And indeed you can but I stupidly clicked on 1440x900 which is higher then my screen can take so I've now got my TV telling me Invalid mode with no picture. Didn't the old dashboard do the usual "revert to old settings after 15 seconds of no input" so if you select the wrong setting you aren't stuffed?

Anyway the only way I can think of is if someone can tell me the number of lefts,rights, ups, and downs that will get me to the display resolution settings blindly? This is on the NXE update remember so yeah. Halp Mah! I know I could fix it by connecting the thing to my PC but ugh that's not something I am up to right now!

From the point you turn your 360 on:

  • Right 7
  • A Button
  • A Button
  • A Button
  • A Button
Then:
  • A Button = 480p
  • Down 1 -> A Button = 720p
  • Down 2 -> A Button = 1080i
  • Down 3 -> A Button = 1080p
Those are the only resolution things I found in the Console Settings. If the menu you found was somewhere else, just give me a shout and I'll map the button directions out for you.

Just as Kaj said, I couldn't find resolution settings, just the pixel settings when you went into the display part of the console settings.

Yeah I gather that would be since you guys use HDMI or component while I am using VGA, anyway thanks I managed to find the right settings!

It was really my fault as the xbox does say "do you want to keep these settings" and if I'd press down and A it would of reverted back but of course I didn't see that did I! bored.gif

Is it possible to sign into your profile without it trying to connect to Live at the same time? It won't let me connect to Live obviously but I'd rather not have my 360 even try just in case, I would pull out the Ethernet cable but I still want to stream music and video from my PC.

In your profile menu, there should be an "Auto Sign-in" tab thingy. Go under that and you should have the option to disable the Live auto sign in.

I don't think I've ever seen an option to turn off auto-sign in to live, I'd check under account settings and Xbox Live ones, or under the auto-sign in menu.

weird question... lets pretend a person stole a 360 for some reason. If he were to put it online, would Microsoft be able to identify you as having a stolen console?

i read somewhere that someone stole a 360, then because he left the power leads at the house he stole it from, He phoned up microsoft for a replacment one, They registered it had been stolen and gave his number to police, I mean what a dumbass.

COD [email protected] beta is free on the marketplace now, if any1 wants it.

And I worked my ass off to get that code. You know how many posts I've made on the official Call of Duty website just to become a valuable user and receive it? *sighs*

Are you kidding me? You don't need to do sh*t on that website, all you have to do is register. I only had like 13 posts and I still got the code.

Lol well i registered didnt post 1 post on the official forum and i recieved my code roughly a week after registration.

You're better off using a memory stick. I made 3 separate discs and I couldn't get the update until I put it on a memory stick.

I don't think it works with discs.

Guess it must depend on the quality of the disc. I know the ones I used were absolutely sh*t.

You can do it on a disk, I know that for sure. You just have to know what you're doing and how to get the files to the root directory on the disk and not just the media of it.

Hai You Guyz!

I was wondering, I want Xbox Live but I don't have a modem... My bedroom with my Xbox in is directly above my PC room, if that helps.

Well I just load up the disk and open it in Windows and drag and drop the $SystemUpdate folder into the spot. Then I just eject it and load it up and get an error.

I just used a Maxwell 700mb disc.

Drill a hole through the floor to the ceiling of your computer room.

The ethernet cable might be a bit of an eye sore if you don't cover it, but it's cheap and effective. Just try and line it up so that the cord will be against the wall in both your room and the computer room.

What are you using to burn the disc? And are you resetting the console after you insert the disc?

And maybe you should find a different download for the update leak, the one you have may be corrupt or something.

He told me he's just opening the media and copy/pasting the folder onto the disk.

The Windows burn application isn't always super-reliable. If he can't find a USB drive to use, I suggest trying to download a dedicated CD burn application.

^ Like Nero for example..

and people, is it really that hard to wait till the 19th? Personally I don't even want this update (primarily because of the looks) as I wont be bothered with installing games (6.8gbs..) and "personalized" avatars.

I tend to agree somewhat. The loading games to the HDD part is great, but personal avatars? Really Microsoft? Really?

I really don't understand microsoft's motivation, other than the obvious "Everyone else is doing it" angle.

The way it looks? Damn, way to put it down when you really have no clue. The new dashboard is extremely smooth, I haven't experienced any lag navigating through it, and although most of the themes look like bullsh*t on it, it isn't all that bad.

I really like it. confused.gif

Exactly. I personally really like the way the new dashboard looks now that I've been using it for a few days. It's more modern looking, and the ease of use compared to the old one is far better.

The one thing that would make it more attractive is if you had the option to change the default colours around. So instead of the green and purple, you could have orange and black or something.

I have the urge to download it, but it it really worth downloading without being able to access LIVE? Oh and I heard that even if you connect or don't connect at all to live up until the 19th, someway you could get banned? Any truth behind that?

Er, no.

They can't ban you if they have no proof you've downloaded it, and without connecting they can't tell if you did or not.

Well they may be able to track when you updated through Live even if you don't connect until the 19th from system logs. And if you updated before the 19th and aren't on the beta list, they could ban you.

Trust me, they won't though. The amount of people who have downloaded, with the amount of money they spend on Live subscriptions and MS Points, Microsoft wouldn't make such a stupid move and lose that revenue.
