lol just read the article on gamespot about the HD loading, One part made me laugh where they talk about the fact that the loading of game saves times does not improve.......... er well i wouldnt have thought so due to the fact that the game saves allready loaded from the HD in the first place, they do employee a serious bunch of monkeys. also apparently it takes roughly 9 mins to do about 6.6 gig, with C&C3 only taking about 6 mins with 3.something GB of data. In my eyes thats pretty quick.

One guy tried using Katamari for testing its load times.

 

I was like "DUDE, USE A GAME THAT IS ACTUALLY INTENSIVE FOR THE 360's DVD DRIVE!"

yeah well someone has done GTA and apparently its not good news, texture pop up building pop up and other things! i would have thought it would be perfect for GTA4 but obviously not

So, after an 8 song set in Rock Band 2, I've come to a conclusion.

 

Metallica Any form of metal should not be in music games. Because it's not fun to play. It's just random arrangements of notes with no pattern or discernible logic to any of them.

 

It's f*cking chaos. And it's ruined my whole f*cking night. And it's all Metallica's fault, and System of a Down too. Because of that sh*t song Battery. And the other song Chop Suey. Makes no sense. I hear no mention of Asian cuisine anywhere in that song.

I just threw the NXE on a USB stick and installed it. Seems pretty cool, and I love how it looks =].

 

I wont be connecting to Live on the 19th though, as my XBL runs out on the 13th, but I am bored with it anyway. I shall buy another years of it sometime after New Years.

What MS doesn't know can't hurt them, run the 360 without the wireless adapter/ethernet cable plugged in until the NXE patch is out for real , easy, no bansies for yousies.

That may be true and I do believe any talk of banning people is scare mongering but it is possible that come the 19th when you are able to connect to Live the system will be able to tell if you have it already or not. Just a theory, I am not sure how it works.

 

This can't possibly get you banned though, the fact that if a 360 has the update applied and you take the hard drive or memory unit that any other 360 they are connected to will be "infected" with the new update. So the spread of the leaked update will be huge, are MS really going to risk the subscriptions, dlc earnings of so many users over this? I don't think so!

 

BTW. I haven't installed it, I tried but it seems installing it via a CD doesn't work, you really need to use a USB thumbdrive, something I funnily enough don't have!

Strange, the first CD I tried gave the "Unreadable" label in the dash I then tried a blank DVD and it gave a "Mixed Media Disc" label but nothing would happen.

 

Just an idea, I do have an external HDD could I use that?

Silly question, but with the disc in the tray... did you then try to reset the console? Since I think it will only read the update off the disc on boot-up.

 

If you've got a thumb drive then you can just stick it on there, and the 360 will boot the update as soon as you plug it into the xbox.

 

Fallout 3 seems to much slicker when running from the HDD. And 16:10 support is awesome despite the black bars.

Yeah, that's the kicker about the CD update. You can't just stick it in there. The walkthrough on the site you download it from tells you to reset the console. Only then will it give you the option to update.

I believe you can still play the game if you remove it because the drive only verifies the disc when you first insert the game, so if you took it out, nothing would happen because the drive isn't reading the game off the disc but instead the HDD.

No. IP address has nothing to do with it either, because everytime you connect to the net, you receive a new IP address.

Serial numbers on the other hand can be traced, but you'd have to physically look at the serial number on the xbox.

 

So yes, you can get on Xbox live with the 360 you stole with no worries. I wouldn't sign on with the gamertag though

I've done something quite stupid or been allowed to do something stupid thanks to MS, finally was able to install the "leaked" NXE so I was snooping around the new layout and wanted to see that you can choose a longer list of resolutions. And indeed you can but I stupidly clicked on 1440x900 which is higher then my screen can take so I've now got my TV telling me Invalid mode with no picture. Didn't the old dashboard do the usual "revert to old settings after 15 seconds of no input" so if you select the wrong setting you aren't stuffed?

 

Anyway the only way I can think of is if someone can tell me the number of lefts,rights, ups, and downs that will get me to the display resolution settings blindly? Like I know its up one and then right a few but not sure after that.

 

This is on the NXE update remember so yeah. Halp Mah! I know I could fix it by connecting the thing to my PC but ugh that's not something I am up to right now!
