My Xbox hasn't seen use in f*cking months now, I lent my controller out to my mate because I wasn't using it. Now I have a serious craving for some Ace Combat 6.

The leaked update is actually supposed to be the final release so its likely you won't have to update, unless they find issues and whatnot.

 

Another thing to take note of is that video playback of non .wmv's won't work as you need the codecs that you can only get while connected to Live. Anyway I am off to install it, I don't use Live and I can go without my video streaming for a couple of weeks.

So, checked out the repair status on my consoles. One is almost fixed and ready to ship back. The other had its repair canceled. Called up MS, they had already sent it back for repair and told me it got canceled due to some system error.

meh i don't think i'll bother with NXE updating until the official comes down.

I am just to attached to COD4 pub matches to try it out, but im starting to come around to the avatars after really hating the idea of them.

oddly enough, some of the videos on them seem like they might actually be neat.

But i still really don't think we really need them.

The only thing live needed to fix was the marketplace to me, that place is a f*cking mess really. But no of course m$ can't stop there, they have to blatantly steal the best ideas of their competitors

The only thing I don't like is the whole Mii ripoff things, they're totally pointless saying as practically none of the 360s current library will actually incorporate them and those that do in the future probably won't be worth buying. Everything else seems awesome though saying as they're actually functional upgrades, not just something tacked on. And we'll finally have multi person private chat, that's so frustrating with the setup now having to exit one chat to talk to someone else. I hope later on we can customise the appearance more, even with themes it doesn't look exactly slick.

 

And actually, "if you get your hands on NXE and you are NOT in the Preview Program. You won't be allowed on LIVE.", does not neccessarily mean that you'll be banned. What he means is it won't actually let you sign into Live before the 19th, let alone ban you for doing so, as. I'd imagine the differences between this and the current dashboard would cause a huge f*ck up if you tried to interact between the two. Besides, it's not the consumers fault that it was leaked, MS should watch who they're trusting, no?

I've been without mine for 2. RROD, haven't bothered to send it in. My new gaming PC's sound won't work, so it won't let me play games. All I have is my Wii. How do you think I feel

That may be true and I do believe any talk of banning people is scare mongering but it is possible that come the 19th when you are able to connect to Live the system will be able to tell if you have it already or not. Just a theory, I am not sure how it works.

 

This can't possibly get you banned though, the fact that if a 360 has the update applied and you take the hard drive or memory unit that any other 360 they are connected to will be "infected" with the new update. So the spread of the leaked update will be huge, are MS really going to risk the subscriptions, dlc earnings of so many users over this? I don't think so!

 

BTW. I haven't installed it, I tried but it seems installing it via a CD doesn't work, you really need to use a USB thumbdrive, something I funnily enough don't have!

Odd, I installed it using a CD no problem.

For a CD you have to put the whole SystemUpdate folder into the root of the CD and not just the file contents.

Well, Since my LIVE Gold runs out on the 10th, I guess I will install the NXE and give the HD install a try. Looks like no Gears 2 online for 9 days

It's just a small thing they added in to make the NXE a bit more personal. I don't mind the avatars at all. They've been incorporated into a few games already. If you download the Scene it demo that just recently came up, it has avatars on it. Game like that are likely to use them, and other then that they'll just be gamerpics. Also you won't get banned for having the update, you just can't log in to xbox live with it.

 

 

In participation with this program, you should not move your storage device (hard drive, or memory unit if you do not have a hard drive) to any other console as it will also update that console. If an unregistered console is updated with the NXE update, that console will not be able to connect to Xbox LIVE until the NXE has been officially released on November 19th.

I haven't updated my '360 since Shivering Isles came out (due to lack of live connection, and lack of buying new games.). How many updates have i missed?

 

(Oh, and i really should get around to sending it in to get fixed one of these days...It's been sitting next to my Computer desk for the last 3 months or so.)

My x-box 360 got the ring of death about 2 weeks ago,so i took to the shop and they said mirosoft will replace the hardrive,so im waiting and not expecting much that is until the shop calls up to pick it up so off i go to pick my 360 and to my suprise microsoft gave me a brand new 360 with a months free x box live and a apoligy note saying i hope we have regained your respect.

lol just read the article on gamespot about the HD loading, One part made me laugh where they talk about the fact that the loading of game saves times does not improve.......... er well i wouldnt have thought so due to the fact that the game saves allready loaded from the HD in the first place, they do employee a serious bunch of monkeys. also apparently it takes roughly 9 mins to do about 6.6 gig, with C&C3 only taking about 6 mins with 3.something GB of data. In my eyes thats pretty quick.

One guy tried using Katamari for testing its load times.
