Skimask101
Are any of you familiar with Toyan? Toyan - How The West Was Won This type of reggae is called "Toaster", it's where the artist just talks in the song. Mister Pink
Be prepared for all sorts of dub madness when Jamaican native Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry plays the Dublin Village in December. 72-year-old Perry, also known as "The Upsetter," will be plugging Repentance, his fifty-fourth studio album, which is produced by the mighty Andrew W.K. and features additional input from Moby. 'Scratch' will be performing at Dublin Village on December 19. Tickets are €28. Balls, I've got no cash. Damien.
Perry is a f*cking legend, I'd definitely go see him if i could, especially since I missed him the last time he was playing around my neck of the woods Although i prefer his skinhead reggae period, before he became a complete nutter Edited December 18, 2008 by Damien Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/294759-di-reggae-yard/?do=findComment&comment=1058780344 Share on other sites
Blind Joe Death
Ahh, this brings back some great memories. That whole album does. Pretty sure Rockstar took all 5 songs on K-Jah from "Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires". Blind Joe Death
Good to see this sh*t back up. I've been on a huge dub kick lately. Been listening to a lot of Augustus Pablo, Scientist, Lee Perry, King Tubby and all that tasty sh*t. I also recently got myself the 'Trojan Dub Boxset', haven't listened to it yet though. Anybody got any recommendations of anything similar? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/294759-di-reggae-yard/?do=findComment&comment=1059081075 Share on other sites
beavis
Gonna give this topic a good ol bump with some newly uploaded reggae and a neat little video I stumbled upon for those interested on how the reggae sound progressed since the 50's. Omnia sunt Communia
I've been listening to lots of Reggae and Ska lately. I only know of about three or four artists though, so my palette is very limited. Can anybody suggest some good artists long the lines of Bob Marley, Musical Youth and Desmond Deskker? Those are the three I listen to at the moment. Also, artists that use 'spitting' in their music. I've heard something like it before in a video on YouTube though I could never find out the name of the artist. Does anybody know of any artists like that? Damien.
Haha, thats some good funky sh*t right there Trojan is great. I love a bit of Desmond DekkerG40WEW3j4_0 Dekker is the sh*t, shame that I've played all his hits to death Great performer though, I'd give my lil' toe to see him live in his prime: In other news, I'm thinking about kicking off a little personal Ska revival of my own and re-watch Jimmy Cliff's masterpiece "The Harder They Come" again. One of the best Jamaican films ever in my oppinion, not counting Cool Runnings of course It has a cool soundtrack nevertheless though, thought I'd share this masterpiece with y'all: Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/294759-di-reggae-yard/?do=findComment&comment=1059569446 Share on other sites

Damien.
Anyone know any good free online reggae stations? I haven't had much finding a good one. Wish i did. I'd love it as well if anyone would suggest some cool radio station. To be honest, any Reggae related suggestions would be welcome, I've kinda overplayed my early ska & 2 tone library. Some 80's stuff perhaps? Anything later than 1972 that isn't bob Marley, ska or two tone would be appreciated Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/294759-di-reggae-yard/?do=findComment&comment=1059582655 Share on other sites
Mister Pink
Hopefully going to see Max Romeo and Lee 'Scratch' Perry here in Dublin.
