Welcome.

Thanks for posting, make sure you visit regularly since we need more activity in here.

Moving on, I just got a hold of Stephen Marley's album, Mind Control. I recommend it to you all, it's basically a must have, absolutely brilliant piece of work. I have a feeling this will be the main album I'll be listening to all week and possibly all month.

Anybody else in here have the album?

Yeah, my dad copped tha album last year. I thought it was very good. That one song just a bird or something was pretty sick. Stephan definitely doesn't disappoint on his 1st solo record.

Just a bird? There isn't any track on the album titled that, you sure you thinking of Stephen Marley?

Also, I've been listening to Damian Marley's album "Welcome to Jamrock". It's alright but I thought Stephen Marley's album was a lot better. So in conclusion...

Bob > Stephen > Damian

yea I wasn't sure of the title. All I know is that a chick sings the hook. I also liked traffic jam.

And you call a roots reggae man what about those grooves !

The Blues Busters - How sweet it is / Soon You'll be Gone

Dandy Livingstone - A Message To You, Rudy

The Paragons - The Tide Is High

Bill Deal & The Rhondels - I've Been Hurt

Latin Ska Medley

Man, that's a great list.

You ever heard that Darker Than Blue compilation? 'S all very soulful, there're tracks by The Chosen Few, Ken Boothe, Alton Ellis, John Holt and the likes. You might like it.

Hey friend, sorry for the late reply, I have never heard such compilations but I will check them out and if I like them I will download it off soulseek or something

Hey. Haven't been here for a while, have I? smile.gif

Recently, while peeping for some random reggae tracks, I started downloading dancehall and re-discovered Mavado. I've heard some songs from him a while ago, but have never really caught up on it, however, after hearing some of his stuff a few days ago, his voice simply hypnotized me.

It's much different from reggae, but this new dancehall is mad hot. And Mavado is a genius, to be honest. His dancehall tracks, unlike those I heard from Vybz Kartel, Elephant Man, etc.., they actually relax. Must be his voice and his singing.

Here's, by far, my favorite Mavado track with Junior Reid on it.

Dutty Gun

I really can't stand dancehall, to me it's like they barely try to make music. Dub is where it's at for me.

Some Dancehall artist are really great.

Sizzla, Anthony B, and Capleton are the kings of that sub genre.

Actually, I think that Mavado and Reid did a great job on that Dutty Gun track. Unlike a lot of other dancehall tracks where the artists just "rap", I really love the vocals on Dutty Gun, it's well sung imho. Besides, Reid isn't even a "dancehaller" tounge.gif

Capleton is mad great. His reggae tracks are even better than his dancehall tracks, though.

Blind Joe Death

Been listening to Easy Star All-Stars heaps lately. I've had Dub Side of the Moon for ages and I've now ventured into Radiodread and the EP they recently released with all original tracks except one which is a leftover from Radiodread. Awesome stuff.

Anyone else here heard of their stuff? I think I got recommended them here at GTAF a while back but I'm not sure.

Blind Joe Death

Yeah that's true, I remember posting that. I was a very narrow-minded Pink Floyd fan at the time. Haha. But yeah, loving them at the moment. Dub Side of the Moon is so refreshing after being so familiar with the original.

I'm seeing them live next Easter at the bluesfest, can't wait.

I never thought of sizzla as a dancehall artist. i have respect for him. oh and radiodread was alright, I thought it was as good as dub side of the moon.

I'd say Dub Side of the Moon is substantially better than Radiodread but you should still get it if you can, good stuff. The EP is rather snazzy as well, good to hear some original tracks from them.

beavis: I subscribed.
