Official Gang Discussion

Hey,

 

I'm aware there've been a few gang topics so many pages back, the search function seems to be out of action and I can't find those particular topics so my apologies that gang discussions have been used before.

 

So therefore feel free to lock.

 

But basically, I noticed on the GTA 4 Directory topic that there is no link to gang discussion, so I thought being the kind soul that I am, I'd create one.

 

Basically everything about gangs should be discussed in this topic, with discussions revolving around:

 

> What gangs will there be?

> Where will their 'turf'/area be?

> Will there be sets within gangs ala two types of one street gang or two Mafia families

> Should there be empire building/gang wars?

- If so, how can this be altered and made better?

> Should there be a long awaited return of the gang respect system from GTA2?

> What should there involvement in the storyline be?

> Should Niko be able to have his own gang/bodyguards and should they, their weapons and vehicles be customizable?

 

^The above is not a questionnaire, just a few discussion points that may or may not have been brought up previously as a single topic, and can be discussed here.

I'm guessing niko wont have no gang or mafia group...... roman dont have a group neither so niko should just make up his own mafia/gang or something

Yeah I see your point. However, Niko is a career criminal who has claimed to have killed, smuggled and sold people, with smuggling and selling being far from one man jobs. It would seem very likely that back in his home country Niko had an affiliation to a gang/criminal organisation, and that the 'special someone' is someone who was in that gang who most probably crossed him over

 

I understand that the story is rags to better rags, but with from what I've heard of Saints Row, the 'homies' were improved, I think they followed you in their own car (?) or something like that, and I would of thought R* would want to capitalize this by implementing it into GTA 4 via some gang Niko develops through the story who can accompany him.

 

Anyhow, I'd like to ask some New Yorkers or Gang experts out there, what gangs would you put and where? What gangs are in Harlem, South Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhatten and Alderney etc?

Yeah...... I hope there will be a lot more mafia gangs, jamaca and cuban gangs, little street gangs(street gangs aint got to be major),biker clubs should be in LC since newyork well libertycity has biker club members

What I'm wondering though, is where these gangs are best put. As far as I'm aware in the GTA3 Trilogy there were never more than 7 gangs per location.

 

Seeing as though this is NYC with a lot of hoods, I'd expect both Black and Latino street gangs, with counterparts, a la the gta version of Bloods vs Crips and Latin Kings vs Netas (?).

 

Now, these kind of gangs as fa as I'm aware can be found all over NY, Harlem, South Bronx, Queensborough in Queens, Brownsville in Brooklyn etc. Each borough needs to have gangs, and I just can't think for the life of me where you'd put them.

 

I guess the NYC Families and Ballas ( Gtas Bloods and Crips respectively) would be put in Harlem (GTA4's Holland I beleive). However, who then inhabits Broker, Dukes and Bohan? If you have two warring latino factions such as Latin Kings and the Netas in the South Bronx (South Bohan?), then who'd you have in Queens (Dukes)?

 

I'm probably coming across as confusing , but you may understand what I'm getting at? I'd need a New York City gang expert to answer this though.

 

Alternatively I guess they could have the warring factions at opposite ends of the map, as they don't necessarily have to be in close proximity location-wise to have a beef with each other...

Mostly if they have bloods they would be in harlem>mafia bloods<and>mafia crips< and the new mafia gangs should be much better.....something like godfather but better....street gangs should be little.....a group that we see hanging out all the time

I take it 'Mafia Crips' and 'Mafia Bloods' are the name of the gang?

 

Yeah I don't know much about the Netas, just know they are a prominent Latino street gang in the Chicago-New York-North East area, and have been at odds with the Latin Kings at times.

 

Even if The (Italian) Mafia is not as prominent/involved in GTA 4, I hope they have more than one, say one in Broker or Algonquin and one in Alderney mimicking the Sopranos.

 

I certainly whether storyline related or side mission, that we get to work most, hopefully all of the gangs in GTA 4, similar to how it was in GTA 3.

 

I hope things are a bit more serious too. Humour is a bit part of GTA and fantastic, but I thought Woozie and Ran Fa Li in San Andreas were a bit too over the top, these guys are meant to be ruthless killers. Theres nothing wrong with the odd joke, but when it comes to Organized Crime Syndicates (Mafias) there should be a lot more seriousness.

Grand theft auto is a game based around crime. crime is not just gangsters and mafioses. I want there to be SECRET SOCIETIES style gangs. They should not have turfs, but have agents throughout the city. Should they need someone taken care of, they'll use those freelance assassins, military style mercenaries, bought gangsters, or bribed cops to do it.

There primary business should be racketeering within government, politics and business, so they should have bought politicians, and very large businesses.

 

They should be extremely secretive in nature, most agents are undercover - you'll never know until you killed him/her. I'd really like Niko to work for one of those, against another. It'll be awsome to have Love Media being a secret society, and the Zaibatsu (from GTA 2) being their rivals. Niko should work for Zaibatsu against love media.

 

There missions should mainly be strange things that initially niko (and you) wont have a clue as to how they are supposed to lead to anything, let alone help them, but then you should find out in the later stages of the game.

Oh, and those bastards should have ALL law enforcement at their disposal, including FBI etc...

The mafia should be inside there own businesses like bars and strip clubs. And they should drive some of the most expensive cars in the game, like BMWs and Benzs.

 

Street gangs should drive really sh*tty cars like the manana and perial.

 

Weapons wise the mafia should have aks and weapons that are really powerful expect rpgs and stuff like that while the street gangs should have pistols, tec-9s, mac-10s and baseball bats.

 

And on a different note there should be a gang of women that don't kill people they f*ck them

Totally agree with the Mafia not being outside, but i don't think they should have AK's and RPG's if R* going for realism (like them not being on the streets like you said). The mafia should have just pistols, and a few MP5's and Shotguns.

 

Organised crime gangs very rarely need such weapons to fight street wars like street gangs. The need someone whacked, they hire an assassin, or bribe police to get him.

 

Also, Niko will probably have to use those buisinesses to increase that gang's respect for him.

Yeah ya idea is right.....excepted that the street gangs can be any body little crews chillin at they hangout or cornerstores patrollin...making money

 

We should more mobs in there bars... not 1or2 just enough to make it look like a real biness for them not just peds and bartinders should pass out real drinks......well with the new graphic they should

Should gang cars return? Or Should gang members use normal cars 'suitable to them' ?(i.e. ghetto or flash cars for street gang and mafia.)

Why do people not realize that the special someone is Niko? The purpose of that scene was to show Niko's cheekiness.

 

However onto your question. I live in South Bronx, and they must have black gangs.

The Diablo Gang car from LC was probably my favourite.. due to the Engine Sound..

 

The should have Rep Grinding.. >.< like WoW Example: Grind Enough Rep for the Italian Mafia -> New Missions, cars, better rewards then just cash.. you know.. maybe a few members towards yours.. and some new guns to purchase.. i get pretty sick of just getting money.. a good surprise would be.. "Hey, you killed the guy I asked.. here's some money and a black sedan".

 

Would be much more interesting. Just thinking about the rewards, although if this did happen, a strategy guide would wreck it anyways.. anywho.. just my thoughts

I dont think they should have specific gang cars, but regular cars with their gang colors. Make them flashy. SO that when you drive past a nice car you know that the person that lives there is a gang member.
