AZAZEL
A few weeks ago someone at a Danish car enthusiast forum posted a video of him and his bud dismounting their steering wheel while driving at speeds in excess of 80+ kph, actually bragging about how cool they were. Bwaha: Several members were outraged, including myself, and quite a few contacted the police. The idiot had pictures of his car in his profile, with fully readable number plates. So now he can look forward to about 2 years in prison. Frikin' craphead. Just thought I'd share.

cold fusion 33
For some reason i get the feeling that this was filmed while they were driving slowly and edited the video at someparts. im probably wrong. but if i am wrong then what a stupid guy what was the point? Primer43
It's a stupid thing to do, but they only did it a couple seconds at a time. Thats like taking your hands off the steering wheel, were they trying to show off something?
GTA3Freak-2001
Yeah but would the wheel still provide the same movement when not bolted on correctly? Either way what a bunch of idiots, its almost as bad as Ghost riding and another Darwin award winner in the making.
silvermanblue
2 years in prison? Damn, remind me to never remove my steering wheel while driving. Common sense aside, what were they thinking? lurchseesu420
My dad's friend used to have a right hand drive vw beetle with a sunroof and they always drove around with a spare steering wheel. So whenever they pulled up to someone at a red light, my dad would always be in the left hand passenger seat and stand up out of the sunroof with the steering wheel in hand and ask if he could borrow a wrench. Sometimes they would be going 60 or so down the freeway and my dad would stand up out of the sunroof with the wheel and pretend he was steering. Needless to say he always got some weird looks. *gta star*
Stupid, very stupid. It's not as if anything could really happen though, they only done it for a few seconds (like Primer43 said), then put the wheel back on. It would be different if they actually took the wheel off and were driving down that road with no steering at all, they would have had to pray that they didn't hit any bumps, or that their tracking was ok. Otherwise, they may be going for a ride with no steering through a field or something.
AZAZEL
2 years might be a bit excessive, I agree, but that's the charge. For endangering other peoples lives. I don't think they've been convicted yet, but he's lost his license at least.

Suction Testicle Man
That's pretty bad if real, but I'm not sure how that could be evidence at trial. You see insane car chases in movies, and the names of the those involved roll in the credits - but they're not propositioned by police and asked to show evidence that they didn't break the law (I think?). If at first you don't succeed, you fail, and the test will be terminated.

Well, in this case people, from the site he posted the video at, actually reported them to the police, and with his license plates visible in his profile it was easy pickings. Besides, the thing was all over the news for several days. The police department would come out quite bad if they didn't at least act. How the trial will end, I don't know, nor if the video in question can be used as evidence. And it is real, I don't see how it couldn't be. stretch.
Besides, stunt drivers are generally licenced to do so, and do so on closed roads. Not endangering the public and under full knowledge of the city councils.

Ronnyboy
Reminds me when I was little. I was 8 and my cousin hade a sweet tuner (never raced it). I was sitting in the front seat at a stop light and he says. ' Im not liking this steering wheel, I'll try this blue on." He then removed the wheel and replaced.
