Yeah, I can understand what that error says tounge.gif.

I guess you have to re-install XP. It seems that SHELL32.dll is f*cked up, and since it is in the WINDOWS folder it is important tounge.gif.

If re-install doesn't work (it should), you can only format then... and re-install everything you had. Make a backup of your important files if you re-install, also. Just in case...

There is a way without installing, but that is illegal.

First re-install, not format. If re-install fails, then format. Remember that!

bash in your windows xp disk

when it gets to it, and when you're prompted

press R to repair

try that.

Copy it directly from The Service Pack Directory:: Enter Recovery Console then press R

Type:

cd \windows\your_shell.dll_directory

copy SHELL32.DLL c:\windows\system32

From CD: Enter Recovery Console then press R

Type:

expand D:\i386\shell32.DL_ C:\windows\system32

Reboot!

No need to reinstall! You can always restore your system to an earlier date.

Yea that's your best bet sometimes a clean install is the best way to get your pc in top notch shape.

but it can get tedious when you have alot of stuff to put back on.
