the Vigilante Spawn Trick

Recommended Posts

zmoonchild

I don’t use cheats or mods, so please, no comments on how to use them.

Most of you know of the game's ability to spawn rare cars during the Vigilante missions, these vehicles will appear randomly during the mission itself; and you can actually collect them.

It can also be done without increasing the Mission Attempts, as long as you have already completed the Vigilante Mission to Level 12 (thanks to OrionSR for that info).

I was just wondering if anyone has come up with a way to make specific vehicles spawn.

Such as starting a Vigilante Mission in a particular area;

or, doing the Story Missions in a certain order.

I have a saved-game in which I completed the OG Loc Strand as soon as it became available, and after that I was able to get the Euros and the Hotknife to appear regularly during the Vigilante Mission after completing the ‘Doberman’ mission. I can start from that saved-game over and over and get those same results; I haven’t used that saved-game for several months, but I still have it saved somewhere on my hard-drive.

I thought that it might have something to do with the way I completed the story missions, but I’m not sure about that now.

I have since then completed the story missions in a different order (in a different saved-game), and the Euros rarely appeared during the Vigilante missions after completing ‘Doberman’

Also, the Firefighter Mission, you can sometimes get rare vehicles to spawn there too, such as the Patriot.

is there some kind of "memory" in the game or maybe some pattern to spawning recently used cars..is that what you're thinking?

I was just wondering if there is something about the game that will make certain vehicles spawn as the chase-vehicle for that mission.

Basically, I start a mission, locate the vehicle, if it’s something that I don’t want then I’ll cancel the mission and immediately start a new one; over and over until the vehicle I want appears.

Examples:

Sometimes I’ll get the Euros more often then other times, the Hotknife is about the same.

The Bullet and Turismo have each only appeared once for me, and I’ve attempted this several times.

The Phoenix appears less often than the Euros, I but I have gotten it to appear a few times.

in the Vigilante case..wonder if it makes a difference what vehicle you use for the mission..Hunter,Enforcer,motorcycle?

Good point, I’ve used the Hunter as high as level 57, and never saw any car that I was interested in obtaining, but I can’t use the Hunter until much later in the game.

As far as I know, the earliest point in the game when the Hunter becomes available is when the Street Races become available, which is before Pilots School.

Most of my testing on this is in Los Santos on a police motorcycle when the rest of the game is still locked; sometimes I’ve used a police car.

Also, there’s a trick that can be done to get more than one of the same vehicle to appear.

Hijack the car from the criminal and drive away from them, then after a while head back to them. Another vehicle of the same type will have spawned next to the criminal; you can do this as many times as you want (provided the timer doesn’t run out).

You can get more Euros, Phoenixes, or any other chase-vehicles that you want in a sinlge attempt.

I somehow think the types of cars spawned would be similar to what numbers come up on the roulette wheel in the casinos..haphazardly..just by chance

with some cars having higher odds, so to speak.

sorry for offtopic, but i remember in Vice i has first 3 cars in Little Haiti, then the next one in Airport and others in Airport as well with couple of exceptions!!! I reached 47th level and it was easy as hell to blow them up in a big open area.

I heard, if you atart firefighter mission in Angel Pine, then all vehicles will spawn within the limits of the town.

I have never thought that type of the Vigilante Car can make a difference. Thats definitely worth testing out.

About a month ago I was trying to spawn a Phoenix. I was using FBI Rancher in San Fierro, just after "Are you going to SF" mission. I belive it was much more then a hundred tries, but with several reloads. No more then about 20 tries before the reload. There was plenty of Hotknives, as a matter of fact I was sick of Hotknives, I lost all my fondness for this vehicle colgate.gif Several Ghost Glendanes and Ghost Sadlers. The Euros only two times. And not a single Phoenix! I half assumed that Phoenixes dont spawn at the Viligante missions. Maybe one Turismo and I dont belive I've seen a Bullet, but as I wasnt looking for Bullets or Turismo, I might be forgeting something.

During the gameplay I had the feeling that cars a showing up in a simiar order, after each reload, but it was never exacly the same.

just wondering..what criminal ped was driving the Hotknives?

Dont really remember any specifics, but it was just random.

Definitely not something catching the eye, like Stripers or Chicken-guys...

I seem to remember a Denise-like-ped driving a Hotknive once, but it was some time ago, and I'm not sure. It could be some other car.

I haven't noticed a specific pattern in getting certain vehicles to spawn during Vigilante. I utilize the HPV 1000 (police bike) when I wish to acquire a rare vehicle. Also, I usually trigger Vigilante at the Panopticon (sp.).

I have the Xbox version (first edition), and I have gotten the Turismo, Hotknife, Phoenix, and Euros to spawn before I even initiated the first storyline mission.

The Euros seems to spawn more frequently for me than any of the other rare vehicles, followed by the Phoenix (had it spawn three times), the Hotknife (twice), and Turismo (only once).

That's about the same as what I get.

I'm trying to make Phoenix spawn in Vigilante for four days now, about three hours each day, and no success for now. I'm before the first storyline mission, but completed everything else.

It seems irrelevant, for the spawns pattern, where and by what vehicule I'm doing the V mission.

I have seen 5 Hotknives, some while in police car, some in bike. One in Panopticon, one in Ocean Docs, all over the place. Not a single Phoenix, or Euros. Not even one.

Can anyone confirm that Phoenixes do indeed spawn during Vigilante missions? I myself haven seen it there ever. Never.

I guess you're just having bad luck.

when the vigilante mission start: it always appear on rare cars that you can't catch them... so the Hunter is better than othjer police vehicles

There's a very rare chance also that when you've trapped a Phoenix, Bullet or Turismo and have killed its driver on or off the mission, moving away your camera view from the vehicle and then looking back again to it would spawn a couple of it instead of just one.

Must be a glitch of some sort just like what can happen in the Wu Zi Mu mission.

When you see the rare car, you need to turn off the mission, and just drive after that car. It will stop, sooner or later. Rather sooner.

It seems that if your car isnt spawnig, you need to do some random stuff (like side mission, killing spree or some such) then save. After that savepoint the pattern of spawns will change. For me, first it was raining with Alfas, after every reload, even if I rebooted PC. From different savepoint I was getting Uranos after Uranos.

And, GameCH33TA, thanks for ecouragement. I got Phoenix soon after reading your post.

No worries.

And thanks for the saving trick, with getting different cars each new save. That worked well.

Here's a video that I made that shows two Phoenixs during the Vigliante Mission:

Yea, that's what I mentioned before that you can sometimes sort of "glitch" the appearance of certain cars in the mission.

Goes Whoosh

Sorry about the bump but, it feels right.

I've been trying for a while now to get the phoenix in the beginning of the game. And, in the time spent waiting I have not figured out any way to increase the odds of anything. Though, I suppose its possible to shuffle the spawns, in a sense. I have figured out the quickest way to filter through the villain's vehicles. I hop on an HPV-1000 (usually waiting for me in the Marina garage) and head up the boardwalk. I face South and trigger Vigilante. If the red blip shows up at the end of the pier near the Brown Starfish I proceed forward to ID the car/bike/van. If I don't want it I cancel the mission and return to where I started. If the red blip shows up anywhere else I simply ignore/cancel it. Its as easy as a double click (R3 for me) and repeat and/or drive forward, depending of course on where the villain spawns. I can move up to the side of greenish building where I believe grenades can be found. Any further than one car length from the North wall of this greenish building and the villains won't spawn at the end of the pier. This method takes 1 - 10 seconds to find a new level 1 Vigilante vehicle. And, if you're thinking that driving forward shouldn't be necessary if the villain can only drive towards you/CJ -well- in fact it often times is required. Its a weird glitchy thingie I think but, can be very benefitial. Sometimes the villain just won't advance until you're closer. Sometimes it does indeed speed towards you/CJ. But, that's about 25% chance each. The other 50% the villain actually exits the vehicle. Depending on how close you are he/she might re-enter the vehicle and then again its about 50/50 if they stay or go. This has been very handy for me. No shooting or pitting required. They just step out and start shooting or swinging. At that point you can cancel the mission and you now have a parked vehicle with no driver ready to be snatched up. If you should kill the villain the mission will obviously advance to level two. But, this will void the "multiplier" glitch thingie (learned about that from one of zmoonchild's videos). So, if they get out just ignore them, hop in your new found vehicle and drive back to the beach. Return to the villain to find a duplicate of your car. Repeat until you have achieved the desired number (there's probably a limit) paintjob or body style OR the timer runs out. And, being that the mission started so close to an imobile target the timer should be quite plentiful. Again, the odds are about 50% that they will get out and run around instead of driving off. Perhaps, the odds are affected by where [specifically] the mission is innitiated or how quickly you can confront the villain. Needless to say, if they do speed off its simply a good head start at best. I've gotten good at herding them into solid walls before they get to the beach but, its still tricky.

To shuffle the spawn family I just drive along the coast killing beach ballas. I'll go to 24-7 and eat a bunch of snacks (I never eat meals at the restaurants - its just something I [don't] do) and collect some weapons from across the map. Six hours before sun rise I save the game. This way there is always light out to see the colors/paint on the vehicles better.

And, that is what I did for what feels like 10 days. Maybe it wazs 9. Maybe it was 15.

Wow, I said a lot more than I thought I was going to.

Sorry.

I only figured this out a week ago. And, this topic has aged over a year since the last reply. So, I wouldn't be suprised if someone's figured this out or better yet has discovered a more effiecient method. I think, rather, most would just not care or have no trouble anywhere on the map but, eh- it worked for me so I thought I'd share.

And, using this method I, too, have become absolutely sick of hotknifes. But, I got lots of little trophies all over.

I just love using Vigilante missions to aquire rare cars with rare colors (rare prior to trans vendor and excluding pay-n-spray). I <3 my Red Phoenix with Red stripe. inlove.gif

So, yeah.
