Cowards feel the need to take sides with whatever largest group they perceive. They will consider themselves 'normal' and persecute the 'wierd', they will cling to their nationality, race or gender and hurl uninspired abuse at those who are positioned as enemies. Thankfully it doesn't mean that the groups are actually set against one another.

 

Ofcourse we shouldn't forget that GTA:SA is full of gross stereotypes with regards to race, gender, nationality, religion... and I'm sure plenty more. However, it is in humour and helps paint a scene that we can relate to from our own jarred perception of the world through media. It also criticises these views which could be misconceived as supporting them by those who are unable to completely understand satire, or simply have not yet learnt many untrueths of stereotypes. Perhaps this encourages some people in their childish comments also?

I think it's perfectly OK to say stuff like "I hate playing as a niggah" or "yankee" or "mute" or "Serb" because it's a opinion about a game. "Kill all *insert word here*" on another hand is a racist somment.

 

I hate how when people complain about Claude being mute or Niko having accent noone cares, but once someone calls CJ a negro the barrel full of sh*t explodes.

That's ridiculous - unfortunately, racism will be with us until doomsday. You'll always have folks who hate differences. The laws have changed, but that won't change folks hearts. Today, people do a better job of hiding their bigotry. They talk smack at home, at the bar/diner, around their friends, or online/talk shows, when the PC monitors are off. I see a lot of it living in NYC.

Some people are forcing me to. I see where they come from, but I don't shout in their face about eithnic murders against whites in Georgia, Chechnya, Paris suburbs, Los Angeles, Moscow etc.

 

Anti-rasists (and most of rasists too) are losers, who live entirely off our taxes, spend all day in front of computer/out in the streets and end up in jails for various reasons. Have you seen any successfull actor/writer/politician being antirasist/rasist? I haven't. Most of them don't give a damn be they black or white. Anti-rasism/rasism is the thing created by sick people who don't get enough attention and want to show that the care when in fact they don't.

It's a power thing - makes some feel superior because of skin color. Society created this centuries ago, and it's infected the entire world, this whoe light vs. dark mess. Politicians use it all the time to divide and conquer. Perfect example - during America's Jim Crow era, poor whites had it just as bad as poor blacks. Both groups were looked down upon by the white power brokers. But the poor whites bought into that white supremacy nonsense, which told them no matter how bad off you are, your white skin puts you above 'those people'. That kind of thinking still goes on.

I'm sorry, but when you add skin color to the description, whether black or white, that makes it racist. The only reason for mentioning skin color in that situation at all is to give it a negative connotation, to say that not only is this person a f*cker, but he's black/white, too. If you don't think skin color matters, then there's no reason to include it in the descrip. Otherwise he'd just be a f*cker, or maybe a dumb f*cker.

I do not agree.This is merely a description of a person based on a historical way our culture and language has developed. Any person who is not the same as most us (by us I mean white/not disabled/straight) would be described as black/crippled/gay just because they are not like most of us. This is normal for people to point out a distinguishing features of other things/creatures and I am sure in Afrikan countries they would refer to us like "others", "white" etc just because it is easy for them to distinguish us like that. I mean, I heard people saying they hate 4-eyed Zero... Is this a hatred against shortsighted people?

 

And just want to repeat - I am not a racist, I just think some people are geting overexcited with the whole rasism thing and take it too seriouly from both sides.

I agree, white people like to play as white people in games... However I like to feel that since nearly every game has a white person in it, black game players are more accepting of the race of the main character. But hating due to the character not having the right skin colour is stupid in many ways. I'm mixed race and I do like it whenever the main character is of any race except white, not because I don't like white people, but because I like to see more of different races, especially minorities. Kinda makes me feel more at home on the earth, y'know? Because this fkn planet is filled with people who don't accept... well... me.

 

You talk about how not just white people give racism, which is true. But remember who the minorities are. It's like the small bullied kid insulting someone who's in a big group, doesn't really matter to the big group, but I'm sure it makes that kid feel better, lol. However some black people should be better than that. You would've thought they'd learn from their history and not hold a grudge when the right option is to move on... Forgive, but don't forget.

 

The thing I hate, though... Is when white people try to be the ones who judge what is considered as offensive to black people or kick up a fuss upon the slightest bit of racism. And when white kids run around using the n word. But I guess rappers can be blamed for that. I guess that's a slightly different topic that has a few different ways of thinking about it, though..
