instead of what we use this as our spoiler, i saw another method of using spoilers in a different forum:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

and as it says you would click if you wanted to see the spoiler and it would appear underneath

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Spoiler appears here.

and click it again to hide it.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

now im not saying we should copy them im saying we should do something like this:

*Spoiler* Spoiler Topic Here *Spoiler*

and click it to show the spoiler and make it appear

*Spoiler* Spoiler Topic Here *Spoiler*

Spoiler appears here.

this may be better if someone un-intentionaly rolls their mouse over the spoiler and sees the spoiler.

c&c appreciated.

What if you accidentally click it though? Then you have to click it again to hide it and oh god you might look at it

wait

Nevermind.

The main problem with spoilers is that nobody actually says what it spoils.

yes, but with this you give the topic of the spoiler like "tv show results" or something.

If it’s not broken, it doesn't need fixing.

Why would they change the spoiler BBCode? This one is just fine and no one seems to have any problem using it.

If you accidentally scroll over it is goes after your mouse goes anyway.

We already went through that quote:

If it isn't broken, then split it apart and break it.

Not that I think it needs changing, but if it were to be changed, the best solution would be to change it from an 'onmouseover' event to an 'onclick' event, and add a 'title=Click to see spoiler' attribute to the spoiler span.

IMO.

If it were possible, I think this one's the best (highlighting) but may not work on some skins. Or am I thinking about it the right way?

unless for each skin it would be a different colour.

anyways back to my idea, the code:

[spoilerb=Spoiler Topic]Spoiler Here[/spoilerb]

Maybe spoilers could be like this? That way you can only read it if you really really want to.

Nah, I think they work fine as-is.

We can learn a lot from Uncyclopedia and their spoiler warning template.

it works? i thought it was broken for everyone sad.gif

None of the spoilers have worked for me in this topic, or any other one for ages. I've had to roll over the writing in order for the spoiler to box to appear. By which time i've already read it

What skin are you using? I had that problem with GTANet.Lite.

I use the GTA3.com skin, and like grandthefter have to actually hover over spoilers before they go black, which isnt that helpful really.

@ last three posters

The spoilers work fine for me using the lite skin, in both IE and Firefox. I have no idea why they aren't working for you guys.

.spoiler {color: #000;background: #000;border: 1px solid #358;}

Isn't in the CSS for the GTA3 skin, so

<span class="spoiler" onmouseover="this.style.color='#FFFFFF';" onmouseout="this.style.color=this.style.backgroundColor='#000000'">blah</span>

there is no spain class "spolier", which results in the having to hover over it for it to do anything.
