Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

No one has mentioned this before... probably because barely anyone plays on PC here and on top of that, no one really cares.

 

The team of the great modfication, Galactic Warfare for Modern Warfare, have released a beta not so long ago (Christmas time). I can only say: if you own a PC and a copy of Modern Warfare (Call of Duty 4) on PC that you must download this and check this modification out.

 

If you like Star Wars... and if you like Call of Duty this is the perfect match. Plays really well, looks fantastic and there is more to come! The map in the Beta is Mos Eisley (Tatooine)... but something tells me (and trust me on that) that Bespin (Cloud City) and the plant of our 'Furry Friends the Ewoks' (Endor) might come out in the future.

 

I'll post some screenshots I made of it later on. Two playable sides: Republic and the Rebels. Each have their unique weapons divided over four classes. Perks are still available but they now suit the Star Wars setting. All gamemodes are supported (TDM/DM/CTF/DOM/SAB).

Installation is pretty easy; just follow the readme. To start it up just fire up Modern Warfare, go to the 'Mods' tab and selecht SWGW (or whatever it states). It'll automatically start the mod. To browse for servers make sure you have mods and such selected in your filters. Now just sorts the 'maps' on alphabetically and look for 'Mos Eisley' in the list of maps.

 

Join a server and have fun!

Dude. First of all I fcking love you for bringing this topic back alive. Secondly that looked awesome as f*ck eventho' I play on 360 so that ain't gonna be nothin' for me. Really great. It's kinda like Battlefront III but better.

 

So lately I've played a whole lotta Modern Warfare since I got Gold and I'm not getting MW2.

I have tried MW2 online and as said by GTA1 I prefer CoD4, but maybe just 'cause I have played it so much and it's a classic.

One thing I've been wondering, what kinda Create A Classes you guys use?

Yeah lets keep it alive I usually use MP5 with silencer, perks dead silent and uav jammer. Sniper class M40A3 with ACOG scope, perks stopping power and deep impact.

My connection is the main problem in CoD4. It's a decent connection actually but it won't play nicely with CoD4. My ping is always in the 200s and sometimes 300s and that's slowing me down. I see enemies disappearing and appearing meters away while I'm spraying the area in between trying to get a shot.

I played 2 days ago, and I swear mostly every game I joined people where sniping, and most, if not all sucked at it.

Oh yeah pretty much every game is full of 2 or 3 people trying to be all 1337 and no scope/quick scope, it's annoying.

Same. How they do it is beyond me. I mean obviously they have to spend hundreds of hours to perfect their methods, but that's way too much time. I know a guy who doesn't play CoD4 but he has 4900 hours on CoD2.

I just got to level 70, wondering if it's worth prestiging. What exactly is it? Are there any snazzy rewards for doing it? Or maybe I should just stay at 70. Eh, I dunno.

 

What do you all think is the best assault rifle? I'm rather liking the TAR recently, and it seems to be rather underrated which somewhat makes me like it more . Highest damage of all assault rifles, only problem is the recoil, but just burst-fire at range and it should be grand!

I'm planning on picking up CoD4 from Steam sometime soon, since I've both never played it on PC and haven't even seen the map pack maps yet.

 

Is the online community still active? I saw over 100,000 players playing it on the Xfire website so I'm assuming it's still worth playing.
