s14kouki89
Hey everyone just asking for a helping hand here, my situation is that I've upgraded from XP pro to Vista ultimate on my computer and when i try to load my previous save game (used while still on XP) GTA SA now cannot see it. I have a feeling that its because the change of directory as XP uses 'C:\\My documents and settings\ My documents\[GTA save game file]' whereas Vista only has C:\Users\(Accountname)\Documents. If anyone knows how i can sort out this dilemma it would be greatly appreciated! Cheers everyone. TheTank
Yeah, I'd like to know too. I recently got new laptop with Vista Home Premium. And I'd like to play it with this, 'cause it's better than my desk computer Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/292376-xp-to-vista-game-save-dillema/#findComment-4489105 Share on other sites
VCHolmes
If you had installed the game for all users, the saves should be in C:\Users\Public, assuming that Windows is installed in C:. Put your saves in there. Or do search: Start the game, save in a slot that you generally don't use, like Slot 8. Search your computer for that save file, like 'gtasasf8.b' The path of the save file will tell you where the User Files folder is now located. Girish
Locate the folder by doing a search and move it to My Documents. Also, delete the gta_sa.set file present in the GTA San Andreas User Files folder. Ring_of_Fire
When you try to start a new game, can you at least save the game? If you can, then do what VCHolmes tell you about doing a search for ".b" in Windows. It will show you where the folder is located. Now put your saves files in there. How to do a Windows Instant Search! 1. Click on Windows Vista logo at the bottom-left of your screen. 2. Type ".b" in the Start Search box w/o quotes. (This will help prevent typos should you try to type in the whole filename.) Now for A Bit of Tweaking! After following girishb's advice about deleting [.set] file (search in Windows if you can't find it): right-click the [.b] extension and select Properties. Now simply uncheck "Read-only" and select "Unblock" (if it's there). Apply & OK.
