I want this game so badly... I'm going to get it before I get my 360 back.

I have a few questions, though.

-Is the driving like previous MC's where you go into a drift every 2 seconds? I hated that

Nope, the driving system is great. Somewhat like an edited version of IV's except a bit less realistic.

 

-Is it really as hard as people make it out to be?

At times you'll want to smash it.

 

-Are the AI traffic cars un-detailed boxes like they were in other games?

The AI traffic looks really good actually

 

-Has anyone gotten the R8 yet? I signed up for Social Club, I'm getting the R8 as soon as I can

Nope, sorry.

 

-Is the vinyl system like Forza 2's? Like are they all preset vinyls, or can you have many different layers, and manipulate their size/shape?

Vinyl editing system is really good, you can pick preset ones but you can also custom create your own with different layers editing their color, shape, size, position, skew, etc.

Lots of fun, but not as good as Forza.

Afaik, the AI traffic is modified Dub Edition Remix addon cars, few less polys, import into game and then that's their cars.

 

 

So you often see Cobalt SS's, Chevelle SS's and Escalades driving about.

 

 

Edit: f*ck.. I had the 360 vertical cause I needed room on my desk, I know, stupid, but I have done a mod to it so it isn't meant to scratch the disc, anyway, I was playing MC:LA, with the radio on and I must of had it too loud or something, it fell off my printer and onto the 360, no damage to the 360, but my disc is scratched as f*ck, so I need to get it replaced this Friday.

Just played this for about 30 mins last night and it takes quite a bit of time to get used to the driving, the handling seems worse than the previous games. Also are you actually supposed to win those first couple of races or i am just sh*t because the opponents car seems to zoom off.

 

Anybody come across any loading difficulty's yet, some times the buildings and roads textures don't seem to load fats enough for he cars speed, i suppose downloading to the HDD when the option becomes available will sort that out..

I got some pop-up with cars, trees, etc, as well as LOD's appearing instead of the actual objects, annoying.

I'd suggest waiting for the series races at The Great Palace and The Parking Lot until you have one of the unlockable cars, such as Nikolai's Camaro, or the Eclipse from the time trial races, if those are the ones you've been trying.

 

Until you get those two cars, just find easy races. I suggest cruising on the highway to find highway racers, which are literally the easiest to race.

Admittedly, the vinyl system confuses the f*ck out of me. I haven't even found out how to get stripes across the whole car, or even move the vinyls from their original position.

 

Edit: What special feature would you guys recommend for the third time trial race? It's between Agro and Zone. Zone is good, because I can use it to avoid crashes, but Agro is good, because I can just plow through the traffic.

The rims on the Eclipse are a bit too big for my taste, but whatever. I'm loving the license plate, lol.

The first car is a VW Scirocco.

 

As for the Eclipse, they were 23" when I took the pictures. I've sized them down to 19" since then.

Can you still unlock police cars? Is there a 2 player freeroam mode?

Squad cars, no. Two player freeroam, depends. You can freeroam online, but I don't think you can do splitscreen.

 

Though, a lot of people have been recreating squad cars on Rate My Ride using the '96 Impala. There's a really good one, I believe it's twelfth on the top rated car list, which looks almost exactly like a squad car. It also looks like it has the word "F*CK" spraypainted over the word "POLICE," on each side.

I use EMP, very useful especially when there's a car right in front of you near the finish.

Move the right analog stick when the game is paused.

Well I am really enjoying the level of difficulty so far, I think it sits at the right level making winning better. Sure there are frustrating moments but that's part of the series, if you don't yell at the screen or chuck the controller across the room then you aren't having fun!

 

Its good, I am still using my first Golf GTi which might be a bit sluggish but its cornering ability is great. It gives you a good underdog feeling because mostly you are racing RX8's, 350Z's, Impala's, etc.

Dont know if this has been said before here but i was playing before and found a glitch (if no one else has yet)

 

When your on a bike and crash out and your guy is lying on the floor press to sound the horn and when he should reappear he doesnt itts just a bike and the guy is still lying on the floor.

This week is going so slowly.... Well I'm getting the game tomorrow, and my Xbox within the next 3 days, so I'm close to playing it.

 

This game's graphics are beast. I heard somewhere that there are over 100k poly's on each car.

Got it Friday and I love it. Its fun racing people on the highway and the rate a ride feature is a great addition as well. The customization blows the NFS out of the water, not to mention the the detailed cockpit views. The actual map is small though. Wish they would have included long beach and more of the suburbs.

 

So far I have a 69 Camaro RS/SS (Baldwin Motion Replica), 79 Trans Am, 95 RX-7, Ducati 999 (Stock),

 

 

 

 

The pictures look a lot worse than the in-game graphics.

Beat the guy who had the silver Focus, and just barely, too. Though, that series did help me learn a valuable lesson:

 

1. Get slipstream/nitro

2. Charge Agro

3. Activate slipstream/nitro behind opponent and activate Agro before colliding into them.

 

I did it to him on the highway, and he ended up a mile behind me. He caught up, though, and I won by about a second.

 

Of course, after trying and losing a race with it that would've been a breeze with the Eclipse, I quickly put it back into my garage. I also gave both cars a new look.

(it's hard to tell, but the Focus has the Camouflage vinyl package, a carbon fiber hood, and I picked a green similar to the green used for the vinyl for the interior, including the interior neon. Just seemed too dark in there without it.)

It said that if you start to win a bunch or races in a row that they AI will start to become more difficult. However if you start to become 5/5 for a few races that the AI will dumb down and it will start to become easier to win again.

 

I just wanted to know if this is true or any of you guys had heard this, i would post a link bt cant remember were iread it.

I can honestly say that I've only gotten that mad with games that I've really enjoyed....which seems weird but it's true. I'm going to get this game in a week or two along with Guitar Hero WT. Got me a new job so I should be set till I go off to college.

I think that's true, but your not going to get any achievements/trophys if you get used to that.
