Okay guys, let's get this thing going.

-------------------------------------------------------

The vivid sun approached the horizon early on the morning of October 16, 2007. In fact, it approached an approximate 20 minutes earlier than normal. As the glowing, orange aura flooded the Liberty City skyline, there was a strange sense that everything was about to change, and nothing would ever be the same again.

Nikolai Bellic sat fresh on a bench outside Terminal 31 at Liberty City International Airport as he slowly sipped down his coffee from Starducks. His gritty, urban appearance gave the impression of a cold-blooded killer. He looked like a man who knew what he was doing; where he was going. But in fact, Niko knew nothing of Liberty City, or America for that matter.

Finishing his coffee, he stood from the bench and halted a cab.

The driver turned to him with two obnoxious eyes. “Where to?”

Niko glared at the man with authority. “Take me to Broker, there’s someone I need to see. I can find the place from there.”

As the driver pulled out and approached the entrance ramp of the freeway, Niko pondered about how he would find him. His cousin Roman, that was.

Niko had received an e-mail from Roman one week prior, telling him of the freedom that Liberty City offered. For all of his life, Niko had been on the run back home. But now, there was a sense that Niko had found a new home. He was here for one thing, and one thing only: He wanted to live the American Dream, like Roman had told him about.

And so, Niko boarded a plane to America for an unexpected visit to see his wealthy cousin. The only problem was that Niko only knew of Roman’s taxi company in Broker, but no information as to the address. He would have to find a way to obtain the information, but he had too much respect for himself to simply ask someone on the street. No, Niko was a man’s man, and he refused to let anyone know he was a tourist.

The taxi cruised along in the morning rush hour traffic, crossing bridges and passing towering landmarks. Hordes of people commuted to work on foot, by car, taxi, bus, and almost every other form of transit possible.

Niko watched the sun, settling over the distant water off the coast of the urban, autumn setting. There was suddenly a sense of change in him. For once, maybe Niko knew where he was going. Maybe this was the place to be.

But little did Niko know that he was only digging deeper into a dark hole that he would not be able to climb out of.

But little did Niko know that he was only digging deeper into a dark hole that he would not be able to climb out of.

Niko watched though the window as the taxi sped on the roads of Liberty City. There were skyscrapers, heavy traffic, and people who were hurrying along the pavement. It all seemed new to Niko. He had never been in a metropolis such as this. In the distance, Niko caught in the corner of his eye, the Statue of Happiness, which welcomed ships to Liberty City.

Niko had had a bad life back at home in Europe. He always wanted to live comfortably; and now he thought, he could live such a life. “Perhaps here, things will be different”, thought Niko.

The taxi stopped. “This is Broker. Where exactly do you want to go?” asked the driver.

“Never mind, I’ll find the place myself”, replied Niko.

Niko then paid his fare and started walking. He asked around for Roman’s Taxi Company. Some did not know where it was; some seemed to know but simply gave him a questioning look. Niko started to think that something was wrong with Roman.

After a few minutes of walking, Niko spotted a taxi with “Roman’s Taxi Company” written in bold letters on the side. He hailed it.

”Surely the driver would know where Roman lives”, thought Niko.

”Surely the driver would know where Roman lives”, thought Niko.

"Roman? I don't know where he lives man, but I can take you to the garage. He shows up there every now and then."

The taxi drove deeper into Broker, which seemed to look more and more ancient the further they moved inward. Niko could not imagine someone as wealthy as Roman owning a business in this part of town. But could it be?

Niko saw the ramshackled sign for "Roman's Taxi Service", which hung by a single nail above the door of a rusty warehouse. The place looked horrible. Gang graffiti had claimed the hopeless walls of the building, and several windows were broken.

"Here's the place," the driver announced.

Niko took a second look. "Uhh... are you sure?"

"Look pal, you asked me to take you here, I got places to go and money to make. We all do. Come on, time is money, time is money, time is..."

Niko stared down the driver, who swayed back and forth clasping his hands into his chest. He was obviously on some kind of drug. What kind of people where Roman hiring? Niko could not imagine that a profit could be made off of such trash. Nevertheless, he payed the fare and exited the cab.

As Niko proceeded to the entrance, a feeling of regret had come over him. This wasn't what he had expected at all. Maybe he had made a mistake.

There were no front offices to the building, and so Niko walked straight into the garage. No sign of Roman.

All of the taxis inside looked beaten-down and broken. 7 cars down, a bulky black mechanic inspected the engine of one of the machines. He turned to look at Niko before shouting, "Can I help you?"

"I'm looking for Roman, is he around?"

The mechanic chuckled a bit before replying, "here to collect, huh? And how much does he owe you?" He walked closer.

Niko looked up at the man who seemed nearly twice his size. "I'm not sure I know what you mean..."

"Sorry" the man said as he wiped the grease and sweat on his shirt, "I guess I should introduce myself first. The name's Benny, but most people just call me Blue." He outstretched his dirty hand, but Niko rejected it.

"What do you mean 'how much does he owe me?'"

The man called 'Blue' sighed. "Well, you look like a determined person. My guess is that he owes you some money, and you're here to collect."

"What?" Niko questioned. "Why would you think that?"

Blue laughed. "Mannn, Roman owes everyone money. Brokest motherf*cker I know."

Niko's eyes bulged out and his temper ran short. His cousin had lied to him, and Niko had fallen into a trap.

"You know, I don't just work on taxis," Blue continued, "Why don't I leave you my number, you can come by here anytime if you need a fix-up."

"Just tell me where Roman is," Niko demanded.

"Oh, I'll tell you where he is, but you gotta do something for me first."

"Oh, I'll tell you where he is, but you gotta do something for me first."

"What?" Niko asked, annoyed. It was all becoming clear that he would be miserable for quite some time.

"Well, ya see, there's some assholes who think it's funny to steal my parts. They've taken 3 tires, a muffler, some windows, and even my damn radios! I need you to get that stuff back, man. It's real important that I get them soon, 'cause this taxi here is needing some work to get back on the streets," said Blue.

"Where can I find these thieves?" asked Niko.

"I heard they're hiding out at some apartment across Broker. You'll need a weapon, because they don't mess around. Here, take this..." Blue walked over to a work cabinet and opened the drawer. He took out a 9mm pistol and handed it to Niko. "You're gonna be using that, I guarantee you. You're also gonna need a ride to carry my stuff, so here, take my truck."

Blue pulled out some keys from his pocket and threw them to Niko, who immediately went out of the garage and opened the large pickup truck parked nearby. He started the engine and drove off down the block, searching for any suspicious people around an apartment.

After several minutes of searching, Niko found himself in front of a tall, dilapidated apartment building. He guessed this was it, as it was the only apartment he had come across while searching. He got out of Blue's truck and locked it. The door to the apartment was ajar, so he didn't have to deal with tricking the lock on the door.

As he climbed the stairs, he could hear many voices speaking in different rooms, and TVs on in others. Once at the 4th level, he stopped. He could have sworn he heard metal clanging in the room to his left. He pressed his ear to the door and listened...

"Hey, keep it down Mark! The neighbors will hear ya, for God's sake!"

"Sorry Greg, this sh*t is heavy. How about givin' me a hand, huh?" said Mark.

Niko could hear someone getting out of a squeeky chair and walk over to the man apparently called Mark, and lift the heavy object. They groaned and grunted across the room and toward the door. Niko jumped to the side and took the pistol out of his jacket, ready to break in the door. He counted to himself, readying to burst in...

'1...2...3!" He kicked open the apartment door and waved his gun around. Inside, he saw that there were four men in t-shirts holding various car parts, one being the car door that Mark was lifting.

Three of them immediately reached for their back pockets and pulled out pistols of their own. Niko quickly squeezed off 4 shots at the one who seemed to be Greg. Greg stumbled and fell to the ground, coughed a couple times, and went limp. Then the remaining two with guns began shooting at Niko, several shots nearly missing his head. He ducked for cover behind the wall and shot blindly from behind it. He could hear one of them yell, and another one running. Niko looked around the corner and saw one of them was limping with an injury from Niko's blind shots.

Niko quickly finished him off with a bullet to the head, and began looking into the rooms of the apartment, looking for the other guy.

tbc, by someone else.

Keeping his weapon handy, Niko loaded a second clip and continued from the living room down a short hallway, past the bathroom and to a bedroom in the back. The door was locked.

Niko stepped back and fired two shots at the hinge, which broke free, allowing him to burst through. Facing an empty room, he looked suspiciously around before noticing the open window. There was a fire escape just on the other side, and it seemed to be the only other way out.

There was a fire escape just on the other side, and it seemed to be the only other way out.

He ran over to the window and climbed out. Running down the ladders and stairs, he looked around to try and find the last guy. He seemed to have gotten very far away for only about a minute to run away.

As Niko reached the bottom of the fire escape, he heard an engine rev. He looked behind him to see the last man in a blue Sabre revving his car at him. The man then sped at him across the sidewalk. Niko jumped onto the fire escape and waited. Right as the Sabre was driving under the fire escape, Niko let go and fell onto the car. He held on with his right hand, and proceeded to shoot at the man through the window.

It seemed he had shot him, as the engine became quieter and they began to slow down slightly. Niko opened the door, pulled out the dead man, and dove into the car. He was quickly rolling toward a wall, and he wasn't even sitting up properly. He kicked his foot on the brakes and held on for his life. The Sabre stopped inches from the wall, leaving Niko sweating and tense. He got out of the car and went back to the apartment to get the parts...

He got out of the car and went back to the apartment to get the parts...

“That Greg guy was right, this sh*t is heavy,” thought Niko as he lifted the car door. Niko brooded upon how he was going to carry the heavier of the parts all by himself. He couldn’t risk asking someone for help; they would probably call the cops after seeing all the stolen parts. After a lot of thinking, Niko carried the door down to the pickup. After a couple of trips back and forth, all the stolen parts were securely tied together in the pickup. Satisfied with his work, Niko drove back to Roman’s Taxi Service.

“Here you go, your stolen car parts,” said Niko to Blue as he pulled over.

“Hey, I knew you were the man for the job the moment I saw you. So who sent you to beat up Roman?” asked Blue.

“Beat up Roman? Why would I do that? I’m his cousin.”

“Oh, I’m sorry. You sure look like some hired goon.”

“Alright, where is Roman?” asked Niko, who was growing impatient.

“He rented out an apartment a couple of blocks away, always expecting some creditor or the other” said Blue, who then scribbled an address on a piece of paper.

“Here, this is the place. Go straight up ahead. ”

Blue then gave him the piece of paper with Roman’s address.

Niko took a look at it and marched towards Roman’s house.

He had a lot of questions to ask Roman.

Niko walks down a dirty looking hallway with faded wooden faded wooden doors running down either side. He is holding the piece of paper Blue gave him, and is reading the numbers on every door.

Eventually he stops in front of a door. He looks down at the piece of paper and up at the door. “Number 69.”

He nocks on the door and hears a voice with an eastern European accent say “Hold on!”

On the other side of the door roman squints through the peep hole. “Who is it?”

“Its Niko open the door.” Roman stands their for a second in disbelief and then opens the door.

“Cousin what are you doing here?” Roman asks. Niko walks in to the room and starts to walk around Roman’s cheap apartment.

Niko eyes wonder around the dull looking apartment he then in a calm voice says “So this is your wealth? this is your fortune?”

Roman stares at him and in a slightly worried voice says “Niko... ” but Niko talks over the top of him “So this is the great American dream!?”

Roman stared at him and in a slightly worried voice said, “Niko....” but Niko exclaimed on top of him, “So this is the great American dream!”

“What did I ever do to you to deserve this? Is this your revenge for something wrong I did to you in the past?” asked Niko, raging with anger.

“Niko, please calm down. I can explain,” replied a trembling Roman.

Niko realized that there was an ulterior motive in his cousin’s actions.

“Okay, now tell me why you really called me here,” said Niko who had calmed down.

“Niko, I needed your help. I am in debt and owe a lot of people a lot of money. You surely wouldn’t come if I told you the truth; I’m sorry.”

Niko slumped down on Roman’s couch. He was stuck here with his broke cousin, without enough money to go back home.

“Roman I need money to go back home,” Said Niko.

“But Niko, you know that I am in debt. Please stay and help me Niko. You could also earn some money that way.” replied Roman.

After a lost of consideration, Niko agreed. He was stuck here; he may as well as help his poor cousin.

“Thank you, you will not regret it,” said Roman, “You know, if you want to realize the American dream, it isn’t too hard here in Liberty city. You will one day live the life that you dreamed of.”

“Alright Roman, I’m tired. Lets get to work tomorrow morning. Where’s the bedroom?” asked Niko.

“I can’t afford to have that Niko. I sleep on the couch every night. You can take the floor.”

“I can’t afford to have that Niko. I sleep on the couch every night. You can take the floor.”

The next morning Niko woke up to the sounds of the city, garbage trucks, Horns, you know the stuff. He looked out of the window to see the city. Roman - already up - called him from the kitchen.

"Niko"

"Yeah i'm up"

"I've got a little job for you"

"What?"

"Well, the taxi companies here are in tight competition, and a couple of them have even hired some goons to do some dirty business for them, you know breaking other companies cars, asking for fares from a place way outta town, and then when my guys get there, well, theres nobody there, if there lucky."

"What do you mean if there lucky?" asked Niko

"Well, if there not lucky there are some goons waiting for them, and because its way outta town, well they get beat up, if it goes on like this for much longer noone will want to work for me"

"So, what do you want me to do about it?" Asked Niko

"So, what do you want me to do about it?" Asked Niko

"Listen, Niko. I need you to find this one place near my depot. Its about a mile north, right by the Alonquin Bridge,"

"Okay," Replied Niko.

"That is where the thugs have a sort of hangout. It's right next to a Burger House, not that horrible Burger Shot crap. Anyway, you can recognize the thugs because they wear black pants, black shirt, and a skull cap.

The taxi dropped him off at the point, right next to the burger and steak house. Niko felt the reassuring bulge in his pocket which was the gun. He began to scan the street, and after a few seconds saw a bunch of guys who fit the description smoking on the other side of the street. Niko began to walk through the one way street while there was a red light, and reached the other end.

"Excuse me, friends?" he said loudly.

"What the f*ck do you want?" said the tallest man. They all turned around and began to walk slowly at him. "You an Alderney boy?" the man asked.

"No. I was cheated in to coming here," Niko replied. "But what difference does that make?" Niko said. He began to reach in to his pocket, but it was too late. One man had him in a headlock. Niko struggled against him, but it was no good. Then, he heard gunshots. Niko was in the Balkan Peace Force, and remembered hearing the AK-47s go off in the Krkonoz mountains as he shielded his ears. The grip around his neck was loosened, and Niko fell to the ground gasping. As he looked up, a short, dark man was looking at him, holding an AK-47.

"Are you all right?" the man asked.

"Yes, thank you, friend!" Niko said in a gracious tone. "Who are you, and how can I repay you?"

"My name is Little Jacob. I am an arms dealer who lives in an apartment here. But tell me, what were you doing, messing with them?"

"My stupid cousin Roman sent me to kill them," Niko said.

"Roman? That stupid idiot? He is still in debt to me!" Jacob said. "Here, I'll drive you there. Follow me." They both walked in to the alley, and in to a blue, beat up car. Niko sat in the passanger seat, while Jacob started the car. He could hear the radio. "This is WKTT Talk Radio, America's Premiere talk station!" The car moved out of the alley.

"This is WKTT Talk Radio, America's Premiere talk station!" The car moved out of the alley.

“Wait,” said Niko, “Are you taking me to Roman’s place?”

“Yeah, of course, I might as well drop you and get my money back from that son of a b*tch,” replied Jacob.

“No wait here. Those guys ran a bit down the road. I want to finish them off.”

“Are you sure man? You must be shaken by that headlock.”

“I’m fine. Just stay here.”

Niko then got out of the car and ran down the road. Nobody had ever messed with him before and lived. He would make no exception in America.

Niko spotted them near a dumpster and ran towards them.

“I’m coming for you b*stards!” shouted Niko.

The thugs saw him; but it was too late. Niko shot one in the chest while he gave a powerful kick to another. The remaining two goons got their guns out, but he immediately shot them too. He then turned his attention to the fallen goon whom he had kicked down. Incidentally, it was the same goon who had him in a headlock. He immediately gave the goon another kick.

“Nobody, I mean nobody messes with me!” shouted Niko as he shot the goon in the g*nitals.

Niko’s anger dissolved.

He then realized that he had been spotted by a police car. Two armed policemen got out of the car and moved steadily towards Niko. There was no where to hide; Niko was sure that he would be arrested.

Just then a beat-down blue car pulled over in front of him.

“Quick, get in! We’re out of here!” shouted Jacob.

Niko quickly got in and they sped off. Niko looked behind and noticed that the cops had got back into their car and their siren had sprung to life.

“We need to shake the cops!” exclaimed Niko.

“We need to shake the cops!” exclaimed Niko.

Jacob casually lit up a cigarette, took a hit, and floored it. "Keep em' busy, mon," Jacob said in his rough Jamaican voice, "I'll loose em'."

The police car followed close behind at a similar speed, sirens shrieking. Unknowing pedestrians turned their heads at the incident.

Niko rolled down the passenger window and leaned out a bit. He fired two shots, fracturing the cops' windshield. After the third shot, his 9mm clicked empty. "F*ck!" exclaimed Niko, "I'm out!"

Jacob glanced in the rearview mirror to see that another cop was fast approaching. "Hold on!" he demanded.

Jacob pulled the handbrake a bit and steered slightly left. He suddenly swerved the car to the right, causing the vehicle to drift over the pavement. Taking another hit of his cigg, he released the brake and floored it into a back alley.

"I keep all of the heavy weapons in the trunk," Jacob explained, "but you should be able to find something in the back seat that will suffice."

Niko turned and searched through the trash in the back of Jacob's car. Looking out the rear window, he saw that both cops continued to have their tail. Niko returned to the front seat weilding an uzi.

He blindly fired from the side window again. The weapon pushed pack at him with power as the clip unloaded on the cops' car.

POP! The cops' tire went flat. Niko watched as the driver struggled to keep the car under control at such high-speeds, but it was no use. He veered to the right and made contact with the wall, before colliding with a dumpster, therefor disabling the car. The alley was too narrow for the second cop to pass.

Jacob and Niko shared sighs of relief as they proceeded to the end of the alley. But it wasn't over. A third cop approached the other end of the alley straight ahead of them and blocked off the exit with his vehicle.

Trapped, Jacob hit the brakes and came to a stop. Facing the vehicle ahead of him, he also saw that the cops behind were now pursuing them on foot.

"What do we do now?" Niko feared.

He searched the back seat of Jacob's car again, and pulled a glass bottle filled with flamable substance, topped off with a dirty rag. He grasped the motolov in his hand tightly and turned to Jacob.

"Let me see your lighter."

"Let me see your lighter."

Jacob took a puff on his cigarette and looked at Niko suspiciously. He reached for the lighter in his pocket and handed it to him.

"I just wanna have some fun." said Niko lighting up the molotov. Orange - red flames burst out, as the Molotov began to light up.

"Sh't!" said Jacob. "Throw it! Throw it!"

Niko leaned out of the car and threw the molotov just as one of the cops got out of the car. The flames engulfed one of the police cars, making it burn up and explode. The other car was just as unlucky, as the fire spread to it's engine too, and pretty soon it exploded.

"Damn Niko!" exclaimed Jacob. "You're my brand new friend! High five buddy!"

"What? Is that some kind of drink?"

"Never mind bud." Jacob took another puff, as he drove out of the alley and down the street.

Jacob's car skidded in front of Roman's garage and stopped in a parking space. Jacob got out opening the trunk, while Niko walked inside to his cousin.

"Niko! You're alright." Roman said, shoving a piece of meat into his mouth. "Come, I cooked breakfast."

"Hey cousin? I met someone that says he knows you"

"Who?"

"Jacob? Little Jacob I think his name was." Niko looked up at the ceiling rolling his eyes.

Jacob walked through the door with an AK on his hands.

"Roman you broke motherf*cker!" he pointed his gun, "Give me my money or I'll blast you!"

"What!? Jacob! Sorry, I'll give it to you soon!"

"Just kidding mon" laughed Jacob. His laughter echoed through the room. He tossed the gun at Niko saying "It's my gift to you, my new friend. I hardly give out my guns, but you're special. Don't expect anymore though alright?"

"Thanks..."

"Here's my number," Jacob said as he handed Niko a slip of paper, "You let me know if you need anymore firepower. I can hook you up with almost anything... for a price."

Jacob lit up another ciggarette and pleasantly took in the fumes before turning to the door and leaving.

Roman and Niko shared breakfast as they talked.

"Look Roman," said Niko, "I need money if I'm going to make it in this city. I can't make a living for myself sleeping on your floor with no money." "I understand, Niko," Roman empathized, "But there's not a lot I can do for you."

Niko stared at the ground with a glum look.

"Look," Roman continued, "Maybe there is something I can do. I have a few oddjobs you could take care of for me---" "Roman!" Niko interrupted, "Don't you understand? I'm trying to get away from that lifestyle. Sooner or later I need to leave the criminal world behind. That's why I came here."

"Alright, alright," Roman accepted, "How 'bout this. Go down to the taxi company and talk to Blue. Let him know you're related to me and that I sent you to him."

"Yeah, I've met the guy."

"Right," continued Roman, "But if you want to make some legit money on the side, you are welcome to use any of my taxis."

Later that day, Niko dialed the number Blue had given him. "why don't you come down and see me?" Blue questioned over the phone, "If it's money you need, I got some work for you."

Niko walked a few blocks down to the Taxi Service and went in to see Blue.

"How's it going man?" Blue said as he came to shake Niko's hand. This time, Niko regretfully accepted the handshake, and wiped the sweat and grease off from his hand onto his jacket. "Roman said I could use a taxi to make some money?" asked Niko.

Blue chuckled. "Mannn, you don't wanna be in that business. You want to know where the real money's at?"

A confused Niko stood in interest. "Where?"

Blue moved closer, almost whispering to Niko, "I run this underground chopshop. You can find the place on the east side of Broker. You steal a car; you bring it to me, and I'll pay you for it."

Even though the task contradicted the statement Niko had made before, it seemed to be an easy enough job, and the reward seemed to be good.

"Here's a list of cars I'm looking for," Blue said as he handed it Niko, "Just bring them to me in good condition, and make sure the cops aren't on your tail when you come."

Niko stepped outside and looked over the list.

Niko stepped outside and looked over the list.

“Wait a second,” said Niko. He was surprised on reading the list.

“How am I supposed to deliver this long list of cars? I am new in Liberty, so I’ll have difficulty in telling one from another. Even if I do manage to identify the correct cars, it’ll take me a long time to deliver all of them. No offense friend, but I am looking for a quicker source of money,” he said.

“Hold on there a second pal, I’ll pay you for each car you deliver; not altogether. And I am not asking you to get me all of them at once; take your time,” replied Blue, “So you happy?”

“Fine. It’s going to take a long time before I find these cars though.”

“Alright, cool. See you later.”

Niko was about to leave when he heard a phone inside the office ring. He thought that it was probably on of Roman’s creditors and decided to talk to the person to know how broke Roman was.

But Blue bet him to it.

“Hello, this is Roman’s Taxi Service. May I help you?” asked Blue, with his most polite voice. He then listened to the voice on the ends and grunted acknowledgments now and then. “Alright, don’t worry man. Help is on its way. Stay in one piece,” said Blue and hung up.

Blue turned around and saw that Niko had still not left.

“Man, am I glad that you’re still around. One of our boys is in trouble. Some wiseguy’s been threatening him into using his taxi as a pimpmobile. If the cops come to know of this, we’ll have to close business for no fault of ours. Go teach this pimp a lesson that he will never forget.” said Blue in a hurried tone.

“Am I getting paid for this?” asked Niko.

“Well, lets just say that the pimp will pay you. Now go meet up this kid in Seickler St. You know the place?”

“I’ll manage to find it.”

“Okay, he’ll be in his cab. Find the kid and he’ll take you to this trouble maker.”

Niko nodded and left Roman’s office.

Niko nodded and left Roman’s office.

Niko left the Taxi Depot and ran a couple of blocks before finally reaching Seickler St. He looked around and spotted the Taxi Blue was talking about.

"Hey you the guy that needs help," Niko asked.

"Ya man, so your Blues friend," The driver replied.

"Ya so where is his guy at."

"Right over there, you see that guy in the green jacket talking to the girl?"

"Ya I'll go chat with him," Niko said as he walked across the street.

"Hey kid! You better stop messing with or taxis if you know whats best," Niko said in a menacing voice.

"You got a problem cr*cker," The pimp yelled.

Just then Niko pulled out his 9mm and pistol whipped the pimp in the face. The man fell to the ground coughing on his own blood.

"Thats my problem b*tch," Niko said as he walked back to the taxi.

"Thats my problem b*tch," Niko said as he walked back to the taxi.

"Look out man!" warned the driver.

Niko suddenly fell to the ground from a blow to the back of the head.

"Where the f*ck you think you're going?" said the pimp as he clenched his fist together in a knuckle.

Niko quickly stood to his feet and readied himself for a fist fight. A crowd began to form around them.

The pimp made the first move, swinging his fist towards Niko's face, who quickly bolted backwards out of harm's way. Niko retaliated with a punch in the pimp's face before following up with another. Angry, the pimp made a second attack by lunging for Niko and tackling him to the ground. But Niko would not allow him to gain control of the fight.

Niko quickly pushed the pimp off of him and stood back up. The pimp began to stand in a daze but Niko made an unexpected hit in the back of his head. The pimp struggled a bit, but continued to go after a determined Niko, who furiously forced his fist towards the pimp without aim, hitting the man in the adam's apple. The man clenched his neck and bent over gasping for air, followed by Niko grabbing the pimp's upper body and shoving his knee into it. The pimp fell backwards with a bloody face.

Niko waited for the crowd to disperse before reaching down into the pimp's pocket and snatching his wallet.

"Stay down if you know what's good for you," Niko threatened as he wiped the sweat from his face. Admiring his own toughness, Niko stared down his defeated opponent and, without hesitation, disrespectively spit on him before walking away.

"Thanks, man," the cabbie said, "I owe you one."

Niko walked closer.

"My name is Vinnie," the young driver announced, "what's yours?"

Niko ignored the question. "Here's my number, kid. You let me know if you have anymore trouble."

"Thanks, I'll do that." And at that, the cabbie drove away as Niko began to head back to Roman's place.

But then... out of the corner of his eye, Niko saw a small parking lot across the street.

Niko stared at the empty silver Cheetah. What was a sleek car like that doing in Broker? Someone rich must have owned it. Niko checked the list Blue had given him and to his content, there, listed at the very bottom was the word, "Cheetah".

Niko glanced around to make sure no one was watching him and began walking to the car.

at that moment Niko's phone rings its...

Roman, he seems slightly nervous.

"Cousin, I need your help." He said quickly.

Niko sighed, wondering what kind of nonsense he'd be getting into this time.

"What do you need my help with, I've been all over this horrible city running errands all day, what makes this one more important." Said Niko angrily.

"Yes, and for that I am sorry, I didn't mean to mislead you cousin, but I couldn't tell you that I have nothing..."

"Could you get to the point Roman" He didn't have time for grovelling

Roman took a few seconds, then began to speak.

"Some guys are coming to my apartment soon, they'll want money, if I don't give it to them, they'll hurt me, maybe even kill me. I need you to go and see Jacob, get any guns you can, quickly, and come to my apartment, stop these people before they do something to me"

Niko, unable to believe this situation punches a nearby door, then holds his hand for a second as if in pain.

"And why should I do this cousin, you have lied to me, told me you were rich, successful, why shouldn't I leave you there, to rot!" he raised his voice towards the end, clearly exasperated.

"You could do that Niko, but don't you remember what I did for you in the past, without me you would be dead by now, surely I deserve something"

"You bring that up now, it's something I'd rather forget Roman, OK, I'll go and see Jacob, I'll get some weapons, and help you, even if it's more than you deserve." He pressed the button to hang up, then dialled Jacob, waiting for a moment and a short dringing tone, for an answer, Jacob is coughing as he answers.

"Hey mon, who is this, what you want?"

"Jacob, it's Niko, I need some guns, fast, to save Roman" He said hurriedly.

"Sure, Sure Mon, you meet me under the Broker bridge, ten minutes I sort you out, but I warn ya mon, even if I know you, I see cops these guns gonna be tested on yer ass, you got me?"

"Yes, I understand, I will see you in ten minutes" Niko sounded relieved.

Niko ran to the roadside raising his hand and calling out for a cab.

He watched the cab come by. It was one of Roman's. Niko clambered in, and said "I need Romans' apartment!" he yelled. The driver turned around. "Здравствулте!, друг!" said the driver. Niko sighed, and asked in Russian. The driver sped off and Niko rolled up his window.

The taxi arrived at Romans flat a minute too early. He could hear noises. Niko darted behind a wall, and began to pull out his knife.

The taxi arrived at Romans flat a minute too early. He could hear noises. Niko darted behind a wall, and began to pull out his knife.

"What was that," said one of the thugs.

Niko knew something was up. He regrets not bringing his 9 mm with him, but he has to worry about what is happening now. He has to put all the trouble Roman caused him and focus on what is at hand.

As Niko remains behind the wall, his mind wonders back to that evening in Moscow. That day that he was in trouble and frantically tried to find a way out. He had to pay Roman back. Niko is the kind of man that doesn't want to be wrong or to give up. He also doesn't like the fact that he has to be helped. He has always struggled between what he wants and what is right. He knows he must help, but his anger is what gets him.

The adrenaline pumps through the very veins that spread through every inch of his body. He is willing and ready. It was showtime. Niko carefully looks around the corner and finds a big, delivery truck parked in the front.

As Niko was about to enter, he heard them approaching. He duck behind a nearby car. He notices one man was carrying a box and the other had Roman, firmly in his grasp. They opened up the large door behind the truck and threw Roman in the back along with the box which wasn't the only one. There were tons of boxes full of something. Niko knew it was more stolen parts and he knew they took Roman so he wouldn't cause any trouble.

With just a knife, Niko knew it wouldn't do any good. He had to resort to an idea he surely wasn't looking forward to. He had to jump onto the back...

Niko jumped. He grabbed the metal edges of the truck. Niko felt the wind rush past his ears as he held his grip tight on the metal bars. There was a quick, sharp, turn, and Niko nearly fell off.

He shut his eyes and attempted to move his feet towards the truck, which was no good. He could see the truck passed Roman's taxi depot. Niko yelled for help to one of the taxis that was outside. "Roman's in here! Get you fat arse in that car and help!" as he zoomed by. Niko stared at the truck's shuttering back. Then, he heard the honking of a horn. He spun around.

"Yo, mon! I gotcha!" the voice of Little Jacob sounded through the air as there were several gunshots to the tires. Niko saw the old car zoom behind him, and next to him. Jacob leaned his head out of the window.

"Listen! I'm gonna throw you a gun!" Jacob yelled.

"Okay!" Niko yelled back. Jacob held his hand out, and threw a snub nose pistol to Niko. Niko gave him the thumbs up, and then heard the scream.

"OH SHEEEEEEEEEET!" screamed Jacob as his car smashed through a vendors stand and in to a bank. Niko held the snub nose in his hand, and pointed it at the lock of the door. He fired, and the door opened up. Inside were the thugs with Roman, who was tied to a chair. Niko fired at one with his free hand and jumped in. He did a quick spin kick to the face of the thug pointing the gun at Roman, disarming him. He then did a judo throw and threw him out the back. Niko then pointed the snub nose at the third man and fired. He then quickly darted over to the sobbing Roman, and cut the gag, and the ropes.

"Thank you, Niko,"

"I must finish this!" Niko said, and plunged the knife in to the thin metal wall. The knife went throug, and Niko continued cutting. He then kicked through it, and saw he was behind the cabin of the truck. He stepped out, and began making his way around to the side. Niko was at the door of the old and crappy vehicle. He pulled it open, and looked at the driver.

"Surprise!" Niko said as he stabbed him in the neck. Blood sprayed around everywhere as Niko forced the knife out and the writhing body out of the truck. Niko climbed in, and saw they were headed for the Broker Bridge. Niko attempted to turn, but the wheel didn't work. It seemed this peice of sh*t was going down. The truck was headed for the side of the bridge. Niko yelled to Roman "Jump!" and jumped out himself. He watched the truck plunge into the water, and went in to freefall. For a few seconds, Niko screamed. Then he hit the water. He swam, and swam, and reached the surface. He breathed as hard as he could, and looked around. Roman popped out, and Niko breathed a sigh of relief. They both looked at the sinking truck ahead of them.

"I planted bugs in Romans flat" McReary smiled then left.

"Whats the address?"Asked Roman whilst getting out of the water.

"177, Redburn Road" Said Niko."Little help?" Asked Niko

"Sure" Said Roman, helping Niko out of the water. "Well i've got work to do, so see you later, oh by the way what are you going to do till tommorow?"

"Well I don't know ..."

Niko saw an expensive blue car waiting at the traffic lights.

"Maybe thats on the list" Niko said out loud. "Roman, is that car over there on this list."

"Yeah, 4th one down, I can't pronounce the name, Italian, you know, but I know its called that"

"Thanks, see you later"

Niko walked towards the car.

"Niko, Niko, ah forget it see you later"

Niko awoke the next morning, ready to meet McReary. He sat up in his bed. After several minutes of silent thought, Niko was ready to have some coffee. He made himself a cup, got in his good clothes, and drank it. Roman said he would meet him there, saying he had "other buisiness." Niko exited the apartment and began walking down the street. He stared at the Alonquin skyline. Perhaps McReary would take him there. Of course, he spent the last few days in Liberty City, yet, he just drove through Alonquin whilst half asleep. He dreamed of seeing Star Juction, or taking a walk in Middle Park. After a few minutes of walking, Niko arrived at the Taxi Depot. He walked inside, and was greeted by the workers.

"Niko, how's things!" asked one man. Niko shrugged.

"Fine, I guess. Here, can you take me to 177, Redburn Road?"

"Of course, my friend!" said the man.

The car stopped outside a nice, small, classy building. Roman was outside already. Niko walked up. Roman was wearing a suit. Roman nodded, and rang the bell. Within a few seconds, McReary appeared at the door. "Welcome, Niko!"

"Hello, Mr. McReary," Roman replied.

"Niko, call me Francis. Roman, you may call me Mr. McReary, you half-witted peice of sh*t!" Roman closed his eyes. "I am still waiting for the money you promised me! And do I get it? No! 2 f*cking months, Bellic!" McReary screamed. Niko was staring at McReary.

"Francis, what do you want us to do?"

"Earlier this year, I ran over some stupid kid in Bohan. The parents of that retard are suing me, using a mister Thomas Goldberg, an Alonquin lawyer. Goldberg is a citywide famous lawyer. He has never lost a case, except for one dealing with food poisoning in a Chinese Restaurant. Anyway, if Goldberg wins, I am about to get all my retirement funds taken away. Anyway, I need you to go to a place called the [email protected],"

"The what?" asked Niko, laughing. "I'm going to a brothel now?" McReary smiled.

"No, Niko. It is a cybercafe in Alonquin. The [email protected] is where you will submit a resume I have made for you to Goldberg. Once you are going to interview Goldberg, kill him. You need to look like you just came from Russia, and are on a buisiness trip. Your name will be Boris Dvorski. You will be staying at a classy hotel in Alonquin to make it seem totally real. Understand, Niko?" McReary finished explaining. Niko nodded.

"And Roman?"

"Roman will be MY lawer. Roman, I know you are good at weaseling your way out of things, eh?" McReary smiled.

"But, I don't know a thing! Please, please, what if we loose?" Roman began to sob. McReary frowned.

"Then I send your cousin to the big house, while you are going to forcefully jump of the GetaLife building, and we shall make it look like a suicide. Understand?" McReary said. Roman gulped. "And Niko, here is a coupon for the best tailor in Liberty. Get yourself some new clothes. An expensive suit would be nice," said McReary. Niko frowned, and looked at the sobbing Roman.

"Very well, Francis. I'm going." Niko said. He pushed Roman, and they both left the building.

"And be sure not to run. I did plant that bug in Roman's flat, eh? Be at the [email protected] within two hours. The resume will be a text file in your email," McReary called as they left. As soon as they shut the door, Niko grabbed Roman.

"You see what you have done now, little bastard! Because of your promises, I have to act like some dumbass lawyer from Vladivostok! You better win that case, Bellic."
