Claude,doesn't speak,he was made that way on purpose,he is the only GTA protagonist that has the ability to be molded and shaped in the player's desire. His hatred fueled him trough his long journey to get one single thing,which is,revenge. If Claude spoke,he would NEVER be half as cool or badass he is today. That is my opinion,and I respect other people's opinions,and I agree,Toni and Tommy are awesome. But CJ is a total twat,a failure of a protagonist. Just like Salvatore, he tried to set him up and the day after he's sleeping over his grave (though I hated that), and he didn't speak which made him damn cool. Donald Love tells him to kill Kenji, someone he works for, no problem! 2. Carl Johnson: I hate how most people dislike him. Tell me who would dare to go into a military area (69) with dozens of well-armed M4 army's bastards. Just to steal a jetpack, or blow up a plane of FBI. And take over half of LS to find Smoke and kill him, the final missions are mostly similar. He makes his way through a "house" full of crackheads and stole a SWAT tank just to get in then kills hundreds of Ballas, Vagos and even some SWAT + workers using, M4, AK's, MP5, Mac10's, and even shotguns to end up killing Smoke wearing a bulletproof vest. Don't focus on the negative! 3. Tommy Vercetti: He was such a great guy, a psycho. Wouldn't give a sh*t of who it was, he tried to be nice to anyone but when they treated him -, he simply kills them or takes revenge in a way. Special mention to Auntie Poulet, he destroyed her drug factory. Then I like how he killed so many of Sonny's men and himself as well as Lance to stop the heat and finish it all. Also I am still wondering why is he and Lance both whispering in Keep Your Friends Close. You sold US out. I could barely hear it. Then I'm yet to play the stories. He apparently wants "revenge" but seems contended to do everything else. Street racing to driving people to dog food factories. Heck he even gets 2 chances to kill Cat but ends up letting her go. The fact that he's mute is again a negative. I found him to be the weakest - characterwise. Its like he was bred to be everyone's lapdog. the guy can't even make his own decisions. The fact that he let off Maria screwing him up with Sal like it was nothing seems to pretty much indicate this. He even needs Asuka to tell him to get back at Sal screwing him up. Don't get me wrong. He has his pros too. Killing Salvatore and Catalina were some cool moments. I also somewhat like his implied badass persona. Still I feel he could've been a lot better than what he ended up to be. 6/10 & alike 2. Tommy - The reasons stated by everyone here should be enough to justify my opinion. IMO, the perfect character. Although, he had his cons like taking **** from Diaz and Sonny and being easily manipulated by Auntie Poulet but hey, he gets back at them big time, right? Then again, I didn't like the way he acted like a pussy in front of the Psycho Ice Cream lady. Totally out of character. Neither do I appreciate him dumping Ken during SA. I justify it but don't appreciate it. 9/10 3. CJ - Again a perfect character IMO. Had the great makings of the "younger generation" protagonists in GTA, felt like a perfect passing of the torch from Tommy to him. Brave, adventurous, ambitious, funny sense of humour, cool, practical and totally bada** IMO. I could go on but, whats the use. The haters should really play SA with their eyes, ears and brains in full working conditions to like him, if you ask me. 8/10 But yes, I believe that he does certainly OVER-REACT in situations when he's shocked. True anyone would be scared in case of Cat's encounter but it didn't seem to fit his character to act so much of a lover boy to get in her good books (yes THAT was why he "acted" like a wimp). Same case for discovering that Toreno's alive. Sheesh bro, its no big deal, don't make an idiot of yourself. Put a gun on his head and threaten him instead. Who would go single-handedly to a well-guarded military area (Area 69) and get deeply inside with soldiers using M4's. Or somebody break into a plane just to plant a bomb in it. Toni is real decent: He's pretty loyal to his Mafia family, always proves his mum to be wrong. He just goes through a lot as well as kicking out two Mafia families on his own. See, I've always found this to be one very common thing about CJ haters : 1. When CJ takes **** - he's a wussy. 2. When Tommy and the others take **** - at least they talked back and killed those guys 3. When CJ talks back - he whines too much 4. When CJ gets scared for perfectly logical situations - he's a wimp 5. When Tommy and the others are stated to be scared in similar situations - at least they did awsome things that showed they were [email protected]** 6. He went through a lot of crap, and he managed to end up kicking the Ballas' arses. 2) Toni Cipriani - I liked Toni; in my opinion, he was the most intelligent protagonist. Not too badarse, but also tough. 3) Vic Vance - Had correct morals, which is good. Nice person; a little confusing, albeit nice. 4) Tommy Vercetti - I liked him a lot, although he was a little too badarse for my liking. 5) Claude Speed - Cold hearted arsehole.
