Algonquin Assassin
*Bump* In order 1) Tommy- "Harwood Butcher" Need I say more? Plus his personality was awesome. Thankyou Ray Liotta 2) Tie between Vic and Toni. 3) CJ- He was a badass at times, but his "Friends and Family" caring made SA too much like a soap opera. 4) Claude- Yes he was cold, but we know nothing about him, other than a small explaination in SA. I would like to know why he's a mute, what made him date that bitch Catalina, and what his previous history was before he met Catalina. Maybe R* could make "Grand Theft Auto: Claude's Stories". lol Edited October 16, 2007 by Miamivicecity AkshayKumar

.:Alex:.
1. Tommy Vercetti - He is simply the epitome of Grand Theft Auto in every way. 2. Vic Vance - Vic is also pretty badass, and is more 'human' than the other protagonists too. 3. Toni Cipriani - The fact he's a gangster, and his personality is pretty cool. 4. Claude - He is also a good representation of GTA, but his silence kinda ruins it a bit. 5. CJ - Too much of a coward. He's either running away from something (LS) or scared of someone (Toreno). Just shut up and do it for once!
Taste Of Chaos
1)Tommy vercetti ~ just badass, sometimes funny and has his priorities right, 2)Tony cipriani ~ for the sole reason for the line "You want some more you sindacco f*cks?!?!" in one of the missions in lcs, made me laugh like a bitch. 3)Claude ~ Mysterious killer, dresses cool, and has no need for words (crappy pun) 4)CJ ~ Annoying, always talking to himself like a moron, big headed and a general pussy IMO. 5?) Vic vance ~ Having not played vcs I wouldn't know, so he could come anywhere in the chart, i just dont know lol. ~TOC Opportunity knocks once in a lifetime, temptation will lean on the doorbell. Toni Antonio Cipriani
Toni Cipriani, because he's generally like me: 1. Can't swim 2. Has an unreasonable Mother who nags at you 90% of the time Claude is second, he looks *quite* cool. But Tommy Vercetti's my third favourite, bcause he runs very funny CJ is my forth fav, he can swim Vic Vance is fifth, Mike is last.

Rucke
Vercetti. Not the richest, but the baddest by far. In a mosh pit with all protagonists, Vercetti would most likely be the only one standing. Fido(Claude), would be a close second. Tommy Vercetti is one of the richest characters CJ and Vic to. (At the end) Toni and Claude was more of the hard street guys style.

Tomass2010
Tommy- Because he was bad ass, never showed fear Claude- Because he was silent, he was the kind of character that YOU molded into which made you feel THAT closer to the game Vic- Because he was the only Good main character. He did everything for his family even though the way he did it and why didn't make sense CJ- Because he was a wimp. You can have 100% muscle in the game and he is still on his knees begging for mercy by some of the characters. Plus have the stuff he did was unrealistic....I mean i know its a game but would you really blow up a plane because James Woods told you? (lol) Toni- Because he didn't have a mind of his own! Everything he did was to please either Salavator, Maria, His mom, or Donald Love....He didn't have any kind of personal goal...He makes a great Capo, He is loyal but other than that he makes a better henchman than a main character
Vanilla Shake
-1. Tommy Vercetti: Mainly because he was just the perfect protagonist. He lacked fear, had an extensive (to to mention bloody) relationship with the Liberty City mafia, turned his environment into his own product, and was just in general a badass. Not to mention he was masterfully voiced by Ray Liotta. -2. Toni Cipriani: Again, another great mob character. While he may not have become as rich and successful as some of the other main characters in the series, he was still a sadistic motherf*cker. -3. Victor Vance: A good, cleancut, respectable all-American whose had a bit of misfortune for most of his life. While in most cases this character wouldn't fit the bill as a main character in a Grand Theft Auto game, Rockstar was able pull it off. Although he did try to stay away from drugs and was reluctant in engaging some criminal activities, he still did it. And in a fun manner. -4. Claude: The mute, fear/emotion lacking henchman who was personified by the barrel of his gun. He was probably the only protagonist in the series who wasn't in it for money, or respect, or even both, but out for one thing and one thing only: revenge. Throw that in and pepper it with a solid cast of characters, serve it on the plate we know only as Liberty City, and voila! You have a genre-defining video game in Grand Theft Auto III. -5. Carl Johnson: My least favorite protagonist in the series. I'm not saying that I dislike him, but he was probably the character that I couldn't connect with at all, mostly because of all of the customization features that just took the whole storyline with him way over the top and unbelievable in my point of view. Imagine a man with an afro, hockey mask, boxers, and cowboy boots jumping out of an exploding aircraft. While he was still a decent character, the main interest in that game I'd say was the charcters that he knew/met. Big Smoke, Officer Tenpenny, The Truth, Mike Toreno, Zero, Woozie, and not to mention some returning characters like Salvatore Leone, Ken Rosenberg, and even Grand Theft Auto III's thug himself, Claude. Still a good character (the emotional stuff never bothered me; in fact, that actually made some parts a little more realistic than other entries in the series), but just not the one I'd pick over any of the afforementioned four. And just sitting here, typing and reminiscing about Grand Theft Auto's past characters gives me high hopes for Grand Theft Auto IV's leading man, Niko Bellic. In my eyes, he could be the one to finally top Tommy Vercetti on my list and exceed any past character's badass level. TC718 / <629 / CF5

Typhus
My favourite characters... Tommy Vercetti I admire this guy. He went from being the hatchet man of Sonny Forelli to a true master of his surroundings. He kept everyone at arms length, never got too attached and would never let morals stop him from taking control of his life. The biggest success story of the series. Toni Cipriani He was really interesting. Sarcastic, bombastic but smart enough not to irk the wrong people. I enjoyed with interaction with JD and Donald Love and his stone cold loyalty to Sal. But by far the greatest moment was the ending. When everything he worked for was thrown in his face. "Every dog has his day" has to be one of the best cutscenes in any GTA game but it's hard to explain why. CJ Not terrible but way too stupid. He surrounded himself with all manner of idiots, seemed genuinely surprised when Catalina dumped him and, when the going got tough, ran out on his family. He was a moral coward and could never get past his thuggish beginings. There was no class to the guy. He spoke and acted like nothing but a two-bit pimp who sells crack in his spare time. I mean, it really says something when one of the main villains (Big Smoke) is more morally complex than the protagonist. Fido Or Claude. Or Claude Speed. Or "Kid". This guy was nothing. He looked cool but lacked any sort of sparkle. I can chalk this down to his inability to talk. As well as the fact that he must have been deeply hurt by Catalina's betrayal considering they were an item since 1992. Ultimately though he had a bit of style but no substance. In fact, his inclusion in the number 4 spot is only due to the fact that my fondest memory of the series was in Grand theft Auto III. If it were not to that then this empty shell wouldn't be here. Vic Vance Crap. Utter crap. You know, they could have done so much with Vice City Stories. This angsty character was symbollic of the game itself. A massive disappointment. He got involved with some woman who treated him like a total John. He clearly didn't beat his brother enough to snap him out of his drug addiction. You know, he didn't even deserve his own story. At all. Sonny Forelli for sure. But Vic Vance? No. He had no redeeming features. He whined, he moaned, he tried to be moralistic but didn't even have the backbone for that. I mean. Getting attached to some hick bitch? Cry me a river, it sucked! He sucked!

DarthTemplar
My favorite protagonist was Claude. Since he never showed any fear in what ever he did. He always did some of the most impossible missions ever yet in style. He destroyed the entire columbian cartel in one fell swoop in the last mission. The last mission of GTA3 is second only to End of the Line since it encompassed everything the title of Grand theft auto stands for. Crimes, Stealing and driving cars. It included Driving, Driving combat and combat just like End of the Line did. Plus it was f*cking hard. Tommy came in close second. Tommy Vercetti was a great protagonist since he didn't like stabbing people in the back unless they did so before him. Like how Lance betrayed Tommy and he single handedly killed all of Sonny's men and Lance as well. Victor Vance in third. This guy had morals. He hated how he had to work with drugs to pay the bills. He always wanted out but it wasn't easy since Lance kept pulling him back in Toni Cipriani in fourth. I liked Toni since he had a badass sort of flair. But one pet peeve I have with him is that every game has an actual antagonist who betrays the main character and dies at the end. (GTA3 - Catalina, Vice city - Sonny Forelli, San Andreas - Smoke/Tenpenny, VCS - Martenez. But LCS only has Massimo Torrini and he sucked as an antagonist. Since I didn't even know why he had to die at the end. Because he wanted the Scilians to take over? CJ in fifth. Even though CJ had morals I still liked other protagonists more. He did do a lot of cool things like going inside a government base and stealing a jet pack Edited January 5, 2008 by DarthTemplar

The guy is always pissed off at nothing! How about cracking a smile every now and then? When he puts on that face to try and look tough, he just looks plain constipated.
