The ending of mafia 2 is bogus, i dont make sence and leaves off with a cliff hanger. 2K should be ashamed. I worked my A** off to get the ending as the game is really hard, then i do that, then the cars pick me and joe up. Joes car goes somewhere else and leo says "sorry, joe was not part of the deal." Then the game rolls the credits. WTF?

I want my money back. I will not support mafia 3 if its gonna be like this. I like the game till that, its dumb and you cant even play after the ending, AND its a really short game. Beat it in under 3 hours. They waited about 9 years to make mafia 2 after the first. Whats next? Another 9 or 10 years to see the real ending?

First he says the game is too hard and he worked his ass to get to the ending, and then he says it's 3 hours long. But that's not all. You should see some of his other posts. He is fully retarded.

oh yeah, anyone likes the dlc "the betrayal of jimmy"?

i haven't played much of it, but i don't like the arcade style. and the character, hm, well, nothing spectacular.

Now, more than a year has passed and I just started MAFIA II over again.

Still, this game is great. I also got myself the DLCs "Jimmy's Vendetta" and "Joe's Adventures".

As much for Jimmy's, it's really entertaining and actually very close to an old school GRAND THEFT AUTO game.

- There aren't many (two?) cutscenes (intro, outro, hardly any speech, if at all).

- The protagonist is a hitman for hire, like Claude in GTA III, like you yourself in GTA or GTA 2.

- It's a total freeroam. You accept jobs around whole town, car jackings, rampages, assassinations.

- in "The betrayal of Jimmy" and "Jimmy's Vendetta" the weather and time of day do change (after missions/savings), you are not stuck in a certain weather and daytime in chapters.

Joe's Adventures gives an insight on the time while Vito was in prison.

I haven't played much so far but it fits very well into this movie-esque game.

Some features I already praised back in 2010 still impressed me:

- The police searches for the criminal and car seperately.

- You can't carry too much ammunition. Sure, it's still a game and you can still carry an impossible amount of guns. But at least you get to use them. I'd probably be shooting my way through with the Thompson guns all the way but ammo is limited and you usually have to switch guns, unless you ain't a marksman who only delivers headshots.

- The player can die in a car crash. He also cannot shoot while driving a car or jump out of it. People might not like these facts, because they are already implemented in GTA nowadays and leaving these features out would perhaps be seen as "reducing the game, making it worse..."

Well, to me it's a certain degree of realism I welcome. And if GTA V would be like that, I would not mind.

Multiplayer games could be more suspenseful, one has to drive and only the passenger(s) have to "ride shotgun".

Just to let you know you are quoting something that has been written 1 year ago.

I got the collectors edition and don't regret it at all, I will buy the story DLC and if there is some change I shall buy those mini packs.

Can't wait for the next one.

I quoted MYSELF and if you read carefully, you'd see I was talking about certain aspects of the game I notice now and back in the day and how they still manage to entertain.

Another thing:

If you f.e. equip the Colt Government 1911, which holds 7 rounds, you shoot 5 rounds and switch to the shotgun or anything else and switch back to the COLT, it will hold its 2 remaining rounds. This is the certain degree of realism I appreciate.

The "betrayal of Jimmy", which is the prequel to "Jimmy's Vendetta" doesn't feature too many cutscenes or dialogues. There's an intro, there's a cutscene when you finish your first job and an outro.

Don't expect any movie like scripts like in Mafia 2 itself. "Jimmy's..." is more like an arcade game, it's like an old school GTA. No talk, just accepting missions, car stealing, gunfire, police chases, making money.

But it's funny all the way.

I got the game (finally) and am done with Chapter 6. Are any of the main DLCs worth it?

I'd rather play one that gives me a new view of the game. Don't get me wrong, I really love M2 even without a real free roam.

I've also seen the few outfit+car DLC, Made Man looks awesome imo. I'll get it too.

I thought Mafia 2 complete director's cut was released long time ago. You could get it.

Joe's adventures gives you insight on the story. At least, from his perspective.

The pros and cons about the different packages (MADE MAN, RENEGADE, ARMY, GREASER, etc.):

PRO:

You get new outfits and cars. These very cars are unique and will be in your garage even when you destroy them.

Same with the clothes. They remain in your inventory, even when your (beware, story spoiler) apartment gets burned down.

Some of the clothes do even fit better with particular parts of the game. ARMY and RENEGADE outfits would most likely be clothes Vito would wear in the very beginning of the game.

You can use these exclusive vehicles even in Jimmy's and Joe's games.

CON:

The outfits can't be used in Jimmy's and Joe's games.

The vehicles are really good, but honestly, they're prestige. You don't need them. There are plenty of cars and since there's a lack of side activites, food and gas is cheap, you can spend your money on pimping up your car(s).

You may want to buy suits and ammunition, but even when you're broke, you can rob cash registers, "sell" cars to Mike Bruski and get over 400 dollars or even STEAL ammo and clothes. So, at some point you're really wealthy in Mafia 2, with about 11 grand. You can pimp up your cars, buy suits, so, the additional packages are really just prestige.

about Jimmy's games:

"The betrayal of Jimmy" and "Jimmy's Vendetta" don't give you any insight on Vito's or Joe's story. They don't cross paths, even though Jimmy uses the very same connections (Giuseppe, Mike Bruski, Harry) and even safehouses.

But Jimmy's games are somewhat a 1950's GTA. You play a guy who is like "Mike from BREAKING BAD", a hitman for hire who does the dirty work. Already in his 40s or 50s, laid back but determined. And in these games you actually have to drive around whole town, best chance to use the vehicles from the additional packages.

I don't really mind driving around town in Mafia 2. It sure could get boring in other games, but with Mafia 2's soundtrack and overall style, I could keep on driving forever.

Thanks for the post above. The outfit and car thing you told me was kinda obvious to me as I've already bought similar packs to other games. That's why I'm only choosing one pack this time. War Hero and Renegade (or something like that) are too over the top for me. I know that Vito was in the army but I still wouldn't like to drive around in a jeep while wearing my marine uniform. I know it's pretty nice for the beginning of the game but I doubt that I'd replay the main story many times.

It's between Vegas and Made Man to me now. MM seems a bit more stylish, I think I'll go with it.

I'm also going with Joe's Adventure instead of Jimmy's. Joe is just one badass motherf*cker and I always wanted to play as him. I heard it has something that can be compared to a free mode just like Jimmy's.

Can you change outfits or have a safehouse in Joe's Adventures?

Yes. As far as the "War Hero package", I wouldn't buy it for these reasons. Just the uniform would fit to be in the inventory, storywise.

I got the "Made man package" (deluxe edition) and lately got the "Renegades package". Like I said, the latter somehow fits to Vito. At least, the clothes. The cars aren't too amazing.

I had a look on the "Las Vegas package", http://h12.abload.de/img/vegas._v188478757_vua4.jpg, the suit on the left is very similar to one of the suits in the "MADE MAN package", all suits in the made man pack also do have various colours.

Can't judge the handling of the cars in the Vegas pack, but you can't go wrong with the "Made man pack", the sports car in it is great, also, an old school looking 4 door comes with it and two suits. The Vegas-cowboy-hat-suit doesn't fit the story, nor Vito.

About Joe's:

Yes, like with Jimmy's, it's like a freeroam. You can change your clothes at Joe's, too. Joe#s style of fighting also differs from Vito's/Jimmy's.

This game is actually one of my favourites i have played it three times over now. Just a quick question, does anyone actually think Joe survived and will they continue this story? I actually quite like playing as Vito and Joe was certainly a good character i really hope they both appear in the next one.

Street mix, what I meant by story DLC is that DLC that has missions.

I finally finished the story and both DLCs (on hard no less) a few weeks ago, and overall, I felt this was a great game and a worthy second entry to the series. I'm left puzzled by the lukewarm metacritic ratings that it got. I suppose it's the decade-old GTA Effect, a curse that's going to instantly overshadow a game like Mafia II just for using an open city map.

The last three missions of Jimmy's V were p damn challenging, especially when I was going for as many headshots as possible..

I've bought Joe's Adventures and I'm going to finish it before ending the main story so I fill in the hole.

I'm in Chapter 8 in the main story.

I've heard about the mission design in Joe's, where you drive around, pick up icons and get introduced to the mission with a pile of text. I can live with it. It's not that bad. Plus, I'm playing as that fat f*cker Joe. Nothing can possibly go wrong.

It could of been better. The reviews are harsh, but oh well. There still *might* be a third, cause the game sold well.

I played a few missions as Joe now. You get introduced to te game like in MAFIA II itself. You have cutscenes, you have dialogues, Luca appears, so does Henry. But when it comes down to doing random jobs it's like with the JIMMY-games.

Just text and icons.

But it's all good. Playing as Joe certainly is funny. Also, he seems to be much stronger in fist fights than Vito or Jimmy.

He might not have these punches, his way of fighting looks more like "using his physique in the best way he can", but I beat down enemies very fast with Joe.

Survived? What do you mean with survived?

Mati, and anyone who hasn't finished this game, don't read! Major spoiler!

In the end, it is implied that Joe died, he wasn't part of Gallante's deal. Still, it's only implied and Joe could have survived. Anyway, I hope the next Mafia game is set in the 90's with Vito as an old MAFIA don.
