I will still get this game despite average reviews, it looks great if you ask me.

I never understood that, what was so bad and KAL1 i loved it, the story was pretty good, gameplay was solid and it was just cool.

Well... they focussed on the story, the characters and the missions so if those parts are still as good as the first Mafia the value is definetly there (i replayed the original 5 times, so far..).

But if you think bowling with Michelle, homo dates and delivering packages for Little Jacob over and over is "value" this probaly wont be for you.

 

And the IGN review... the reviewer was probably a butt hurt PS3 fanboy .

How is replaying Mafia 1 5 times "over and over" any different? A lot of good games are repetitive.

I never understood that, what was so bad and KAL1 i loved it, the story was pretty good, gameplay was solid and it was just cool.

Offtopic but I need to adress this nonetheless... Kane and Lynch would've been a great game if it wasn't for the downright broken gameplay. Weapons don't do any damage at certain ranges... you don't hit the target where you "shoot" (the crosshairs are located)...

 

It's just a mere fact... Kane and Lynch 2 improved on this ALOT. Cover system is still jiffy but apart from that the sequel improved alot.

 

Mafia 2 will be a game for people who care about story, gameplay that works and is fun and atmosphere. If you want mindless sidemissions and such this is NOT your game. Atleast, that's how I look at it.

 

Blasting your way through the city should be fun... it was already damn fun in the demo 'area'.

IGN gave it a 7.0. I thought this game would get higher reviews. The demo was fine. It was so great until I realized that this game is just a classic third person shooter.

I will hopefully get this by the end of the month for PS3, liked the PC demo, and those grass, blood, etc bits don't bother me much, nor the DLC. I want the atmosphere, story, and all the fun stuff i did in the PC Demo. That's enough from Mafia 2 for me.

It looks amazing. If there isn't any weather cheat or such, i'll make one save for story progress on PS3, and one during the winter part of the story, just to enjoy the snow.

The game begins in the winter. After every mission, it changes a little bit.

 

Example: It will be snowy and dark, but after a mission, there's still snow on the ground, but the snow itself stopped. On the next mission, there's flurries.
