i dont really like modding my game. unless its an awesome TC or something its worthless to me maybe a skin mod here and there that changes clothes or the face or something, but i dont like when things go out of place like modern cars in a 50s game.

It's still f*cking sh*t for the PS3 gamers that they get a 'censored' version of the game. No matter how you turn it, it f*cking sucks for them and I wouldn't be pleased aswell.

 

Well the choice is up to you with modifications... but if you look at what some of the guys have created for the GTA franchise in a whole when it comes to 'mods' in general you'd have to respect most of them. Just the bunch of fixes, skins and mods that improve the game's quality and whatnot.

i just downloaded a ak47 and smg mod for my mafia 2, f*cking kickass. btw i downloaded it from a guy who posted his mod on a blogspot. i won't post his blogspot here though so GL finding it. cool mod. though you need sobeit get all weapons script. also use the trainer by modmywhat. epic

Well it hasn't yet. August 24th in North America and August 27th for the rest of the world. You should find at least some gameplay vids, the demo is out.

All of the packs should be available to everyone. But I have this stinking feeling they'll maybe announce 'all the packs' available on STEAM/PSN/XBOXLIVE for a hefty fee . But still we'll be able to get them then IF they'd do such a thing.

Seriously, PS3 users have the right to whine because weaker console (360) got all these things and ported from PC but PS3 was ported by some unknown average studio.

Well, the PC version was the main focus, and it seems sensible to port to the 360 as both the Windows and Xbox platforms use Direct X. If the PS3 version was ported by a third party, it was probably done so that development on the console would not affect the date of simultaneous release; if 2K Czech had spent time themselves porting to the PS3, this may have infringed upon the game's development time and perhaps it wouldn't be released on the 24th-27th of August, as we're now expecting.

 

The 360 is no doubt technically "weaker" than the PS3 in terms of raw power (the PS3's overall power has been measured at 2 teraflops, compared to the 360's power at a single teraflop), however, the architecture of the PS3 is unconventional, and, the PS3's "RSX" GPU (GeForce 7900 GTX) is certainly weaker than the 360's X1900XTX, perhaps this, coupled with some programming difficulties that may have been resolvable if it were not for the inevitable time constraints of game design, could be blamed for the lack of certain graphical features on the PS3.

 

Please do not assume that I'm at all discrediting the PS3 or 360, although I abhor the actions of both propitiatory companies, Sony and Microsoft, I genuinely like Uncharted and Gran Turismo on the PS3 and Gears of War on the 360. I'm just trying to shed some light on this controversial issue.

 

Now, to empathise with those playing on the PS3, as I did a mere two years ago, I do realise you're getting a graphically inferior version of the game, Take Two should, in fairness, do something to compensate for this, but, as Fullmetal has stressed, I just can't accept them releasing DLC on a single platform and not to another, so the issue is pretty tricky to swallow.

 

fullmetal: if the packs come to Steam, I hope 2K Czech will release them for free. I mean, this is a primarily PC-focused title, unlike Modern Warfare 2, so shouldn't the DLC be free on our platform, which answers to know overarching corporation?

I simply explored the possibility of PC gamers being given the DLC free of charge, if and when it is released on the Xbox and PC platforms. I said this as PC Games (such as this one, slapdash ports excluded) often allow PC gamers DLC for free, examples include Call of Duty 4 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2, to cite modern examples. We should be entitled to free DLC as the developer is not tied to a contract with a system manufacturer such as Microsoft to charge for the DLC for it to act as a source of income for said manufacturer.

it doesnt matter which console is best, the point is that a few textures dont change the game

 

are you going to look at the grass every time you play mafia 2 and say "wow i wish it had better texture!"? NO! cause noone gives a f*ck about grass, you kill people, jack cars, rob stored and see boobies in magazines! f*ck the grass, man!

 

and pools of blood??!?!! please! give me a break! again: would you go "aw i wish a texture that represents blood expanded from beneath this guy i killed cuz i like how it looks"

every time youd kill somebody? personally, i kill a dude, rob him off of his sh*t and move on to the next guy when i play action games.

They add to how nice a game looks, not how fun they are to play. My PC is sh*te so I end up playing the Total War games with pretty low graphics settings but this in no way takes from my enjoyment. Sometimes- you won't believe this- I have to turn off long grass and other environmental niceties so that the fighting armies run smoother. Sure, I'd like the game to look prettier but I also want it to run smooth.

Played the demo. The atmosphere is great, the graphics decent, but the gameplay's just crappy. Been kind of excited for this before, but I don't think I'm getting it now.
