Mafia 2

I was chatting with Treadstone 71 yesterday via the messenger, and he shared some stuff about this game. I was kinda shocked when I knew that the first trailer wasn't made fully by 2K Czech. It was made by Plastic Wax from Australia. That's why the first trailer was pre-rendered, and it didn't contain any in game action.

The second trailer was already made 4 months ago, and they release it now. The issue about whether the console version will be released first or not, is only a speculation.

Treadstone 71 is a lucky Indonesian who had a chance to view the developer's work closely. lol.gif

Vito looks different now, as well as other characters from the first trailer.

Well the story is set in 40's and 50's. So maybe the game starts with him entering the confession box and talking about his days in the Mafia, and that's why he looks younger in the first trailer. Cause he looks a lot older in the first moments of Trailer 2 and the rest of the trailer he looks younger, like in the first trailer. Mafia 1 also started with telling the story of how it all begun.

Good theory. The game looks really fun.

Maybe one is from console and the other from PC, notice the great difference in the hair and the ear. I really do not hope they have to scale down the PC version because of the Console version.

The 2nd trailer wasn't so exciting as I expected, but the game looks amazing.

I wonder if this game will choke PCs to death.

Probably not since these developers has proven that they are better pc programmers than their friends over at R*, I mean look at Mafia 1 and compare it to GTA 3.

It will still rape mine, or it won't even run it...*sigh* I guess I'm stuck with the console version, it's gonna be great and all but not the full visual experiance.

I am wondering if the main character's mother plays a part in this. In the first Mafia, the main character, Thomas Angelo, mentioned a mother, but we assumed that his mother probably passed on when he was either a teenager or a kid. Possibly Tommy was a loner and grew upon a very hard lifestyle. Here, in Mafia II, Vito has a mother that plays a part.

I saw that trailer, and immediately thought

"You're all a bunch of slack-jawed fa**ots around here! Chewing this stuff'll make you a goddamn sexual Tyrannosaurus...just like me.

This game is looking faxing sexy.

Maybe you didn't notice, but... everything in the first trailer was pre-rendered, and contained no in game models. That's why the characters in the first trailer look very damn detailed, while the second trailer shows the console version models which have been scaled down from the pre-render models.

Still have to play the first one though... I played the demo years ago and I was hooked. Still don't know why I didn't bought/played the full game though.

Wierd... I seriously have to play that instant classic title. From my experiences with the demo, it's on the same level as Max Payne: PURE GAMING ART!

Not many games are like that...

It's really an awesome game: Mafia. It takes some time at first try to get use to the controls, but once you know how to do it, it should be no problem.

Playing the first Mafia is a MUST. lol.gif It's just a masterpiece. Too bad it didn't survive the competition with the GTA franchise. And the PS2/Xbox port was a mess.

Every once in a while I replay the last mission just for the ending. It's always awesome. It feels like a real gangster movie. I dare to say it has better story then every single mafia flick I've ever seen. EVER! And I've seen a lot of those. Could Mafia 2 have better story? Call me a pessimist but I think it can't. You can't top perfection.

in the PS2 is a mess. in the free game mode there aren't any trams and the vehicle on the street is not as much in the PC

So I guess you do go the buildings then. Free roam must be available, huh?

Absolutely. I don't know if it's the same like in first Mafia where you had free mode separately from the main game. But yeah, it is free roaming. Buying property and clothes was already confirmed
