Mafia 2

However, what once was running great on my machine began running 15fps out of nowhere - i lowered all that settings that were previously maxed (and running smooth) and still could not get back performance. Lowest settings still 15fps - everything else in my machine runs right, gta iv is 30+ (saying that here, i mean it in the way you might say it using crysis as an example in 2006 or so, just that, all my games run right, even that one, and even mafia did, but now it's slow wow.gif)

Did you enable APEX by mistake, perhaps?

its a trainer from modmywhat.com or something. you can use it to hover above water.

hover above the tunnel and eventually youll dump into something and drown, BUT, youll respawn in the tunnel. dont get too exited the "you failed to complete the mission" thing will still appear if you go far enough.

Aah that sucks, I had my fingers crossed there for a minute.

I just can't wait for this game, it's another two weeks and when it's released I'll be to busy preparing for school.

But I'll make time for a game like this!

this game is better than gta 4. its more realistic. the car damage might not be so epic but... still overall better.

And every single black man having the colt45 in his pocket. Is enough to shoot one of them and all of them will take out their gun on you. You don't have even a chance to run out from them, you will die in the next second.

I love this game already, can't wait to mess around in the city when being bored of missions/story with a little arsenal.

City is small though, really small... (just drive around the demo part and check the map).

we don't need a huge ass city to have a great game

OverTheBelow

As some have mention, this game is more focused on the story rather than the free roam.

Been trying out the other weapons. The grenade seems very effective.

Still it a bigger city wouldn't have done the game any harm at all. On the contrary.

I already played the mission a couple of times and can't get bored of the gameplay. I want more! Also how do you get those other weapons? I thought the demo only has the COLT pistol, .32 revolver, Shotgun and the Thompson (drum/30 round magazine)?

I am wondering if it is down to the location of the demo ? I don't know much about American History but I know the time period was heavy with segregation. You may find other parts of the city are predominantly "white" whereas the area the demo is set in is predominantly "black".

I got the feeling the area had a sort of "ghetto" feel to it in some places which kinda fits the feeling of the 40/50's.

It's not how big it is it's about what's in the city and how it looks like and how it feels. Liberty City in GTA4 was fairly big but it was dull. Every part of the city felt the same. I didn't care where I was in LC. And that made it appear small. San Andreas though, that's a whole different story. That's how you make a free roaming game with size that does matter.

Anyway, I thought 2K said the city is 10 square miles. Maybe what we see on the map isn't all. Remember Mafia 1 had countryside outside of map boundaries. Maybe Mafia 2 has something similar. I sure hope so.

In the bottom right of the map it does show othe segments. Although it seems like that would be too much.

GTAIV's Liberty City > San Andreas. San Andreas was dull in general. The only cool thing was the fact you had this huge mount Chilliad... but apart from that the Desert and the Strip were disappointing.

Yes the city already feels and looks great and the more you play, the more you discover there is to do and mess around with. (alot more than in IV I notice). But apart from that the GTA and Mafia francises seem to be the superior games. They just feel so good.

Also thanks for the link to the trainer. It's awesome playing around with the weapons. I wanted some more revolvers, the Springfield rifle (maybe Mosin) as in the original but it ain't 'that bad'. Unfortunatly you also find out more things that should've been in the game like in the original. Example: being able to shoot revolvers/pistols from a car... When reloading (throwing out a clip and putting in a 'fresh one') you should lose the rounds that were left in the mag, just as in the original one. You also should take your time to 'pick up' ammo instead of automatically refilling it by walking over it. Healthpacks, 'nuff said.

They just dumbed it down as all games. Though the game keeps on being great nonetheless. I forgive them in a way (because I hope this game will be moddable and the community will make some sweet addition/changes to it).

I think it's because the majority of the free roam in the demo is in low income areas. If you walk outside your house, which is waterfront property, almost everyone is white. However, when you get near the auto garage and stuff, they're black.

Now let me elaborate what I meant when I said SA is better than GTA4's LC.

In GTA4 every part of the city is the same. You have same stores, same buildings, same people. It's all the same wherever you go. In SA you had 3 very different cities and you had country side and desert. Even Los Santos had a lot of verity. You had the gang infested ghetto and shops only available in that part of town, and collectibles only available in LS. Then you had downtown with tall buildings, police stations etc. and it felt natural. It felt like that's how it should be. I didn't feel any of that in LC. Not even with the expansions. Then there is countryside. Different people, different cars, different buildings, different law enforcement, different atmosphere. Moving on to San Fierro. Trams, a whole new car mods shop, your own garage, different atmosphere, new gangs, new people, new cars etc. Then there is desert area. Again, new atmosphere, new people, new cars, new atmosphere. And finally Las Venturas again all that new stuff, and also casinos! Like a new game. San Andreas managed to introduce us to new parts of gameplay throughout the whole story. I know I can't really compare SA with LC because LC is just one city, but in general GTA4's setting was really boring compared to SA. And it didn't even feel natural. It didn't feel like a real city. SA felt like a real state. And Mafia 2 feels like it's set in a real city. That's why Mafia 2 will be more immersive than GTA4. More immersion=more fun.

woah, I was trying to get my 56' Chevy up to topspeed on the highway/bridge thing and I got wanted for killing a cop by hitting him, so I ran for a while and a cop car rolled up to me at about ~50-60mph and stuck a shotgun into my window and killed me instantly. lol.

Has anyone noticed that black guys are really dangerous on this game?, I went to rob a Diner and every black guy in there pulled a gun out. I'll just say I didn't last more than a couple seconds, lol. I

And does anyone know if by any chance there will be a manual transmission option in the full game? because 95% of the cars in this game have a clutch petal.
