There seems to be a couple of frame rate vids floating about, not sure how "accurate" they are but it shows that neither the 360 or PS3 can maintain a stable 30fps at 1280 x 720

Tearing seems to be worse on the PS3 than the 30 according to the vids, but make of that what you will.

This game reminds me of both GTA IV and Saints Row 2. Pretty fun. I wanna buy this and Kane and Lynch 2 when they come out.

The point I'm trying to make is that they could have easily used some of the time it took to make workable faucets and showers to polish the actual mechanics of the game.

Yeah, I didn't really understand why these small, completely useless features were implemented in the game. I mean, for a second I thought I was playing Heavy Rain.

 

Has this game gone gold already? A delay to fix some stuff up and polish some cut-scenes wouldn't be a bad idea...

I have to admit even I struggle to see a difference I have turned APEX off now, I would much rather have the extra frames.

I can definitely tell the difference.

 

So I'm faced with a choice now - play free roam flawlessly with APEX on and enjoy 15FPS in missions, or turn it off and miss out on the debris which makes firefights that much awesomer.

ambient occlusion: consoles? no.

mods: consoles? not legally and for free.

1080p: consoles? cant even handle 720p at 30fps.

I'm enjoying the demo a lot and think this game has great potential, what I'm worried about thought is the replay value of the game though. I mean no matter how kick ass the story is, after you finish it you will have nothing to do and I bet people will complain about it even though saying it's a story driven game.

 

I know this as I've played the first Mafia game but considering this is on PS3 and the complaints of the replay value of GTA 4, I might wait for soe reviews.

The only difference is debris that stay on the ground. I don't give a sh*t about that. I do care about APEX clothing on Vito and that works flawlessly with that fix.

Its all very well that his coat moves in a fancy way but its wasted since the AI has sh*t animations when shot. Gunplay is more important than coat tails and it sucks in this. Love the driving though, very Driver style.

Ahem. *Cough* Forza *Cough* 60fps @ 720p. And there are 360 games with AO.

So yes, atleast 360 does get 30fps with 720p sometimes. and with AO.

 

And no, I'm not a fanboy of anything, I'm actually getting the PC version of Mafia 2 I think, because it's cheaper and its supposed to be better on PC, plus there is the possibility of mods.

 

On Topic:

 

Great game, though. Can't wait for release, It's so freaking fun tuning cars up and carefully taking them to your garage. And robbing places and getting out before the cops get there.

Got blown away, still citizen AI is bugged (they barely do anything) but apart from that everything looks and plays like a dream. Looks great, runs great and pretty much everything feels great.

 

I'm not too sure about the elements they left out from the original (sh*tloads of revolvers/'more' era weaponry like the Springfield Rifle and/or Mosin Nagant maybe, healthpacks and such). But it's still great.

Just realised you can use the environment when in hand to hand combat. Like throwing a person onto the front of their car and elbowing them or throwing them onto a table and smashing them in the face. Nice little neat feature, certainly makes hand to hand combat even more fun.

Managed to get into the tunnel using a trainer. Man, the cars go fast in there.

After playing more of the demo, I do like this game - a lot. I will want to play the whole thing eventually.

 

However, what once was running great on my machine began running 15fps out of nowhere - i lowered all that settings that were previously maxed (and running smooth) and still could not get back performance. Lowest settings still 15fps - everything else in my machine runs right, gta iv is 30+ (saying that here, i mean it in the way you might say it using crysis as an example in 2006 or so, just that, all my games run right, even that one, and even mafia did, but now it's slow )

 

also, I didn't use the demo patches or anything, so I have no idea at all what's up with it. It has updated a couple times too, which was weird but okay and cool if they are literally working on the game and letting their demo show benefits too.

I just played the demo again, and damn does the map look small, but I do like the little touches like the ability to get a beer out of the fridge or interact with things such as light switches and windows.
