Yea thats what i liked about the orignal Mafia too the whole 1930s Mafia themed game, with all the cars and buildings, and now they recreate it on a way better engine with much better graphics, awesome IMO...

Is that Tommy? It definitely looks like him. Not to mention the graphics look awesome, can't wait to see them in motion. Also looks like theres going to be a cover mechanic that is oh so popular in this post-Gears and Vegas age.

Saw the screens and it looks pretty good. I hope the can improve the gameplay fro the first one. And I though Tommy was killed in the end?

Mafia is one of my favorite games, so I'm looking forward to see Mafia 2. Hope it'll be as good as the part one (or even better). Maybe it'll be prequel and you'll play as Paulie or Sam. Maybe even as a young Don Salieri.

I saw these screenshots... looks really damn good. I wonder if the game will still take part in the City of Lost Heaven...

I just hope they make honor to the original game, and make a nice and truly sequel.

From the looks of that trailer, Mafia II will definitely be set in the 1950's.

Shame I never managed to beat the first game, I think I just lost interest somewhere. At least I played it on the PC, I've heard horrible things about the PS2 version.

Shame I never managed to beat the first game, I think I just lost interest somewhere. At least I played it on the PC, I've heard horrible things about the PS2 version.

Like what? I played it and it didnt have a single bug glitch or anything.the graphics are obviously badder,but thatis the only difference.

Ohhhh no. The PC version featured no load times except when starting a new mission or going out to the countryside. And in this particular instance, the controls were VASTLY superior on PC. And saying the graphics were worse on the console versions is an extreme understatement.

 

Anyone else notice the planes flying in formation in the top right corner for one of the screens? In the same shot there is also a bus that says "Empire City". Looks to be this one's setting.

Um the ps2 version also had loading times only when you start a mission or move to vountryside,so i dont know at what you think exactly.And about the controlls i think it is easier to play it on a joystick,welkl at least for me.

I already posted them xD, anyway they look awesome and i cant wait for more, one thing that has dissopointed me tho is the fire escapes, because like in many new games you can climb them, and it dosent looks like you can here, if you look at the 3rd screen shot, its just textured on, instead of full 3D, which i think is sad because i like exploring worlds like this one, and stand on the roof with a sniper rifle and blast people...

I can't find the press release (too lazy), but I'm positive it was announced for both PC and "next-generation" consoles, which most likely means both PS3 and 360. From what I read the load times on PS2 could be long as 30 seconds (), but these consoles are much better equipped to stand the porting of a PC game like Mafia 2.

 

I would like to see some other things taken from GTA, even other titles like The Godfather. Things like racketeering, ally and enemy gang turf (you can take over and lose of course), etc. etc.

Wow, I have been hoping that if there ever was a sequel that it would be around 1950. Honestly, I'm every bit as excited about this game as I am GTA IV. I just hope it goes to the PC first, although the console versions should be much truer to a PC version this time given that there isn't such a huge performance gap between the platforms like there was last gen.
