Just going to note, it seems that next week is that episode of GT TV on Mafia II that Geoff talked about on Twitter a while back.

Its a shame they toned down the driving, it now looks very arcade style.

 

Not sure I'd like that as it looks more arcadey than GTA IV, the graphics look good though and it should run better on my PC than GTA IV with its ridiculous recommend specs.

I'm just worried about how they focus on 'story telling' first and sandbox second. It might end up just like IV where we follow a stilted story line and when that's done there's practically nothing left to do.

This game was never meant to be a GTA like sandbox game, this game was and is a story driven game with an open world sandbox enviroment. Yes I expect when the story is finnish there is nothing left to do, just like the first game.

You on about that scene where yer watching a guy get thrown out of the window during the shootout? Cause that to me looks like a scripted event that another character does.

The only thing that worries about me is the arcadey driving physics. I hope that by the time it comes out they will have fixed it to be more like GTA IV's car handling and pyschics.

I read people complaining about this too and wasn't too bothered about it until I actually watched the video; the driving looks like that in the original Godfather game, way too arcadey. I somehow don't expect them to change this though; maybe GTA4 DID spoil us in this respect.

 

I was also kinda expecting fights in the game to be more physical than with mass gunfights; I'm sure they said somewhere they were trying to make the game about small scale fights over large scale gunfights and that gameplay looks exactly like the latter. I wanted a bunch of wiseguys breaking each other's face in with bottles and chairs, not just one scripted gun fight after another.

Driving looks fun to me! Nothing like Saints row or godfather. You can clearly see the weight and the suspension working along with the crash sound effects. Looks ace!

I have made a poll on the official forums for Mafia II since I have registered that so many have expressed their worries about the car handling from the released footage.

Of course it can change towards release but I still wanted to make a poll so the developers can see what the fans would like.

Awsome find freak2121, thanks for posting. just one question, why are so many games nowadays being made in the Czecj Republic - I'm sure the place was virtually unheard of in the gaming market of the 90's. Also nice to see the game's being made by down-to-Esrth normal everyday guys, I always imagined the game-makers to be a shadowy elite of super-nerds. Well that's probably GTA 4 was made with armed guards anfd locked doors, with the Houser brothers having pics of every developer's nearest and dearest lol.

 

Btw, haven't seen or spoken to you in some time man, how you managing?

Well...

 

I would actually be glad if the driving physics were a bit more arcadey. I think the most annoying thing about GTA IV is the handling. It just gets a bit tiring after a while.

 

And I wouldnt mind if the animations were a bit more unrealistic (faster) ingame either since GTA IVs broke the flow and action a bit (the camera animation is especially stupid IMO since half the time you cant see anything when youre jacking a car or moving behind a cover).

Wonder how high Vito moves in the family he joins. I mean, I'm not expecting a full blown Godfather 2-esque Don simulator but it would be cool if Vito was made a Captain and you could hang around in a bar with his crew, bullsh*tting n that.
