So, I've just bought San Andreas for the PC, and I pop it into the drive. I hear some whirring, but the primised installation screen does not show up. So, I go into D:, and it's empty. Wtf? Help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: The game is a second edition release.

Do you have a DVD-ROM drive?

Confirm this by going into Device Manager, and telling us the model that you see there...

LG/Samsung brands. Just go out to a computer store or look up on their websites.

For starters:

CompUSA / Best Buy / Office Depot / Circuit City if you live in the US.

Futureshop / CompuSmart / The Source if you live in Canada.

Or even Walmart... cool.gif

It says in bold letters : DVD-ROM

If you're getting a DVD-drive, you may as well as get a DVD ReWriter. They are damn cheap these days.

Say.. I'm eyeing a Sony DVD/CD Rewritable Drive Unit.. It says it's a Compact disc ReWritable, RW DVD+ R DL, RW DVD+ ReWritable, DVD R/RW and DVD Ram. Is this acceptable?

Yes. You just need a DVD reader to be able to play SA.

Does it support DVD-R and DVD-RW? Most units these days support all the major formats. Maybe you misread ±(plus-minus) as +(plus)?
