Also, it can be easily forgotten to not give the protagonist a voice actor since in GTA 1 and 2, the player was never voiced. Just like in 1 and 2, the player was suppose to represent you. How the hell do you "forget" to put in a voice actor? I reckon Claude can talk, but he chooses not to. 640509-040147- SA takes place before GTA III, despite coming out after it. I reckon R* made Claude remain silent in SA thus not to confuse people. I don't think we'll ever actually know if he can talk, unless there's like some special video or something explaining.. Why would they make someone talk in an intro and a mute in the game. You can just randomly become a mute. I agree with others who have said that he chooses not to talk. Much like Hitman, if you let anyone into your personal life you could end up dead, and Claude doesn't want to take that chance after his encounter with Catalina. llpalm08 Posted November 17, 2011 Share Posted November 17, 2011 I think they decided to make him a mute in GTA III was because they werent able to get Scott Maslen back to voice him as he was the actor who played him in the intro in GTA2. It might also just be beacause Scott is English and they might not have thaught that an English voice over wouldn't work well for a game set in America, or because DMA/R*North is a Scottish company so didnt want an english voiceover.
