blazevski
helo guys... soo... im trying to make swimming pool in sa so I dag out some info... I cant say if anyone did this befo me, but well... here it is... -2048.0 -962.0 30.40000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 -2004.0 -962.0 30.40000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 -2048.0 -758.0 30.40000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 -2004.0 -758.0 30.40000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 3 this is line out of water.dat I discovered that these values define the water plane... first 3 coordinates are 1st corner, second 3 coordinates are second corner and so on... the values that are 0.00000 in this code are probably waves... I changed a few and I created waves, but I didnt tuch em besides that... There is also another number at the end of each code... 1 or 3 usually... tried to change it, but didnt notice any difference... so i tried to replace coordinates with my own ones, didnt work, tried to add line, didnt work either... thats what I get: the wirst plane is almost on the place... one of its corners is in the midle of the coordinates I have put down (in the midle of that strange textured box which is supossed to be a pool ) than it seems like it wont stop looping... actually it stops somewhere above airport in doherty... didnt check the other direction but water thingy works actually... u can drive boat on it and swim and all... even meet fish when diving so anyone has any thoughts on what to try out? ceedj
Settle down ladies. Not much to do with the main.scm; you might check the Maps and/or Misc section; I seem to remember a topic about making a custom pool several months ago. PLPynton
you can not add any new rectangles, however you can replace existing ones, this adds small water area near the place you start originally 2260.0 -1260.0 25.00000 0.10000 0.20000 0.30000 0.40000 2270.0 -1260.0 25.00000 0.10000 0.20000 0.30000 0.40000 2260.0 -1270.0 25.00000 0.10000 0.20000 0.30000 0.40000 2270.0 -1270.0 25.00000 0.10000 0.20000 0.30000 0.40000 1 last digit is a bitmask for water type, use 1 or 3 for normal results. you should backup the water.dat before, now it seems that you have corrupted one. blazevski
Thanks guys... I found a topic created i february... bout swimming pools and water.dat file... it sais there should be no comments between the lines or ull get strange effect like I did... but my comment was a new line I created... but I have pu it in midle of em all... anyway... I deleted one line now, and added mine... I see plane is created and on its place, but soon as I come closer the game will crash... in that topic it sais game will crash soon as u come closer if u dont use rounded numbers which I do... here is code: -147.0 315.0 42.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 -157.0 324.0 42.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 -158.0 305.0 42.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 -167.0 314.0 42.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 3 and here is topic I was about now... http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=211733&st=0 what am I doing wrong? Rounded numbers are mend to be like 20 , 30 , 22 , 24 ,26 but not numbers like 25, 57 etc sometimes its just a bit impossible to do so, sometimes its easier to just create a plane with a water colfile and some alpha textures to simulate the water effect. PLPynton
your line wont simply work, it has to be rectangle with 4 corners not some crazy shape, try to imagine location of your points and you will see no rectangle. orientation along axis X and Y. use pair absolute numbers like -322.0 and follow what you have been told. btw. the game wont crash as long as the quantity of rectangles remains the same. blazevski
Thanks for hints guys, i should of think of that myself... I just ran in each corner of my collision and picked coordinates... the game actually worked after I changed numbers to rounded ones... so is that another discovery bout water.dat? anyway... I changed coordinates now again so its clean rectangle as pyton said... but I still have one problem... I get invisible rectangle under my character when on water... I got that before, but I think i fixed it with changing last value... I tried all of em now... 0,1,2,3 but still same... whats that coused by? blazevski
Double post, i know... sory bout it... I found out whats prob... I needed to delete on of existing pools... damn... thought I could add one however... it works perfectly now to everyone who searches for creating swimming pool and finds this topic... here is sumething very helpful: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=211733&st=20 thanks guys from GTAF Im startin to like comunity TOPIC ENDED! EDIT: I resized few water planes in the ocean and river so u can have 1 plane instead of 2 for example... tested in game and there is no visible dofference in water surface, but u can now ADD 5 new water surfaces have fun! http://momupload.com/files/44769/water.dat.html Edited August 14, 2007 by blazevski Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/291087-creating-a-swimming-pool/?do=findComment&comment=4463946 Share on other sites
