But people who wont post fan-boy crap here, share your opinions on the series. I've started playing Halo 1 and 2 a lot more recently, great games for multiplayer and playing online. Doesn't excite me in the ways that Half Life and Rainbow Six have. It's a good game don't get me wrong, just I don't feel it's as good as people make out. MP isn't bad. Just a certain minority can ruin the experience most of the time. Shame really, since the match making system is awesome. Glad CoD4 will be using it (or something similar). G MONEY $$$ Posted August 5, 2007 Share Posted August 5, 2007 I really don't understand why it's considered one of the best console shooters. Personally I think it got popular because the Xbox introduced a whole bunch of teenagers (the one's that everyone hates...the one's that scream 'FAAAGG!' during every online match) to gaming. These nubz got their hands on Halo and because they were inexperienced gamers, they praised it as the best game ever. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on the Halo fan-base, that's just a personal opinion/theory of mine. It's not that I don't want to like Halo, I'd like to get into it and be excited for the Halo 3 release but...everytime I try I just can't see why it's so popular. I played through both Halo's and I just can't find anything that makes it better than any other standard sci-fi shooter. I find the Covenant to be a bit ridiculous with their shiny neon-colored armor and the Prophets...well...they have balls hanging off their faces. The multiplayer is well done but it's mostly ruined by all the 12 year olds screaming obscenities. (not unlike the online players on Gears of War) Playing with friends can be fun but I still get bored with it easily. I dunno, it's obviously just not my type of game. The whiney XB Live a-holes with the high pitched voices can really warp peoples view of the fanbase, sadly. Halo 1 was pretty good, but I feel the single player campaign really fell apart at the end. Fighting the flood level after level, in identical looking interiors. Not fun. Multiplayer was great though. Halo 2 had a much better campaign, the parts that took place on Earth looked and played great. Then you get stuck fighting the flood again, in the same barren interiors. Bleh. But the multi-player got even better. I just hope the Halo 3 single player campaign doesn't go to crap like the last two did. My friend gave me the PC version of Halo as a gift, and I really wanted to like it, but I just couldn't. At first it was ok, the grassy levels were fun, I liked the warhog. Then I got to some icy level, and that's where it got boring. There were a bunch of rooms in the mountain that I had to go through, and it was just so repetitive. I seriously think the developers just copy and pasted each room to save time. Then, when I finally got through all of that, I played for a little while until I had to go into some tunnel. This robot would follow me around and then constantly leave, and surprise, every time a bunch of enemies would appear. It was about an hours worth of gameplay just going through this repetitive tunnel fighting all these enemies. I don't understand what all the hype is about. Sometimes I honestly think it's because the Xbox had nothing better at the time, while as a PC gamer, I get to play some of the best games out. I am really looking forward to Halo 3, Four player online Co-op is going to be tons of fun I imagine, not having to worry about playing with little kids while still playing with friends. I do think the whole new "equipment" set (bubble shield, power drainers, gravity lifts) are a little gimmicky, but it does add a little bit to gameplay. Even though Halo's a console-based fps, I just think that Battlefield 2 is much more fun (both with single and multiplayer). 98766654321 Posted August 5, 2007 Share Posted August 5, 2007 i really dont like the halo series, but i found halo3 beta to be pretty fun once the custom maches were unlocked. it sucks though i live with 3 people that live halo, still up everynight until 2 playing halo2. it pisses me off so much because all i ever hear is halo, i picked up call of duty3 and they complained that you cant jump high, so it sucks. there is one advantage of halo3 coming out, one of my friends is going to pay me almost retail price for my 360 next week, then i will finally pick up my ps3. I've played 7058 games of Halo 2 online to date, with about 80,000 kills. Don't know what it is about the series, but I love it. I'm an anal hardcore fanboy of the series, and I hope that Halo 3 can be even half as good as the first game (which is my favorite), but it's looking to be better than the first two games combined. And theres just something about the completely mindless killing with a Battle Rifle that takes my breath away.. And the Master Chief is Bad ass.. The campaign for Halo 2 is getting a little boring though.. I liked the levels on earth but once you get on the Halo.. No.. Then you play as the Arbiter again.. Just no.. I recently got back into the series and beat both (On the last level of Halo 2 the brute ran over the side ) I dont have xbox live but I may be getting it soon, Ive played in on xbox live at my friends house and loved it.
