Mr.Mister
Ok so the Internet on my Dad's computer in the basement is messed up. I connect my wireless router to it but it says its offline and it asks me to connect. I click connect, it tries to connect but fails to. I want to take out my modem from my upstairs computer and put it on my basement computer so that way the connect connects and stays strong. So my questions are... 1. Will it work? 2. Do I need a new IP address for this? 3. Is this quickly fixable? Becuase I need this set up by this evening (Which is like 9 hours away.)
Wolf68k
When you say it's messed up, how exactly? When you connected the wireless router to it, do you mean tried to use a wired connection to one of the ports and it just happens to be a wireless router? Or were you trying to use a wifi card that's in Dad's PC to connect to the wireless router? You want to take out the modem from your upstairs computer?? You mean ethernet/network card? I don't think I've ever heard of any cable or DSL company that offers an internal modem.
