Knowledge Novice
Hello Duffit. Judging by the date that you joined I'd guess that you may be new to modding or maybe this is just a new area for you. Either way there's a tutorial section where you can find information on how to do just about anything dealing with GTA. Click here: >Tutorial Forum< When ever i try to add a modded car to my GTA SA and try to open the .dff part of the downloaded car it says "The Archive is either unknown or damaged." Please help! To add a new .dff or .txd file to your game you will need an 'IMG Tool'. I've never modded SA so I don't really know what program is a good one, but here's a link I found to get you started. Click here: >Spark IMG Editor< Of course, there should be a ReadMe file with whatever program that you download. Hope this helped you out. Good luck. Later. dertyjerzian
just use spark to open GTA3.IMG. Use winrar or 7zip to open downloads, extract the dff and txds, then take those extracted files to spark with gta3.img opened m8
Knowledge Novice
i don't have the game yet but im getting it tommaro. To really understand how things work you're going to need to have the game installed so that you can see the files themselves. I've never used 'Spark' but from my experience using other IMG Tools here's what you usually have to do. **Make a back-up of any files you plan to change** 1) Once you've installed the game start Spark and use it to open the 'GTA3.img' file (found in the 'Models' folder). This will show a list of all images in your game. 2) Search for the TXD and/or DFF that you want to replace. Either delete or rename them. Now choose the 'Import' option and select the files that you downloaded. 3) Once you've finished editing the IMG file select 'Rebuild Archive'. This will take a few minutes while the tool saves any changes that you've made. That's pretty much the basics of adding new txd's and dff's. It sounds like you may have already extracted the files, but if you need a good extraction tool just look in my sig below. Extract Now is pretty good and works on a wide range of files. I need like what to download and how to do alll this junk. The tutorial section is a good place to start learning. It's filled with information on a lot of stuff that can be a big help for someone wanting to learn to mod GTA. Click here: >Tutorial Forum< Later.
