BlaZelatiNo
You got to insert the Audio CD, to get the Audio To work.
G>T>A
You got to insert the Audio CD, to get the Audio To work. Of course I inserted the audio CD! No, what I mean to say is that there is completely no audio, even I can't hear the sound in the menu. In the audio setup, it says 'No hardware detected'. radioman
Is your sound card drivers up to date? If so, go in to the game "options" menu and select "audio" and make sure the sfx volume and radio volume are turned up all the way. Hope this helps. btw, please read the requirements for posting a trouble shooting topic. They are: When posting a problem, be sure to include the following information about your computer: Operating system (XP users: be sure to mention if you have SP1 or SP2) Video/Graphics card type + graphics memory Processor RAM (random access memory) This will help us to identify the problem. And the volume in the audio options is full. It says that the audio hardware was not detected. btw, please read the requirements for posting a trouble shooting topic. OK, sorry about that. Didn't notice the pinned topic, I was in a hurry. My PC specs are: Windows Xp SP2 Intel X3000 Onboard Graphics with 128MB memory. 1 GB of DDR2 RAM Intel Core2Duo Processor clocked at 2.14 GHz I am 75% sure that the problem is with the onboard sound. GTA3 worked perfectly on my old PC. On this PC San Andreas works flawlessly. Also I checked out the troubleshooting in the GTA3 readme. It says that the problem may be due to the onboard sound. It can be corrected by enabling Software Buffering in directX options. But there's no such option in DirectX! I'm using v 9.0c. grahamdodds9
Try deleting the .set file in my documents\gta 3 user files\gta3.set No, that didn't work. If it didn't work, try reinstalling the game, or try copying the audio folder from the play disk to your GTA 3 Directory C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\ GTA 3. radioman
That screen shot looks like the ps2 version, because the pc version has 2 extra options-(1) is an mp3 radio volume boost, and (2) is the mps radio icon at the end of the radiostations. If all drivers are up to date, and deleting the gta's .set file and letting the gae re-create it upon next start up doesn't helps, then an unistall/re-install might be the only other option. Also try running the game in windows 98 compatibilility mode and see if that helps.
BlaZelatiNo
Do you have any speakers on your PC?
jnzooger
Speakers don't matter in this case. It is sound card. @G>T>A: Click Start->Run, type dxdiag, click the Sound tab, under Hardware Sound Acceleration Level set it to basic acceleration (1st notch). G>T>A
I tried all levels of hardware acceleration, it still does not work!
Heihachi_73
That is not a PS2 screenshot; radio stations are on the bottom on the PS2, along with a menu with Stats, Load, Briefs and the rest. The yellow also gives it away as being the PC version; it's grey on the PS2. Not only that, the PS2 can't do 1024x768! To the OP - What's your sound chipset? I've had no problems with GTA3 or Vice City on both an onboard AC'97 or a Creative 'Vibra' 128 PCI. The 'no audio hardware' problem usually means you didn't put the right setting in (although, that reverts to the previous working one). I set mine to 'Miles fast 2D positional audio' and have no problems at all. Make sure mss32.dll is in GTA3's directory (along with the main exe file). The PS2 has a main menu system like that, I've never seen it. Most certainly the PC Version. Mp3 Radio Volume boost was introduced in Vice City anyway. I did not change any settings, it was just like that when I ran the game for the first time. And mss32.dll is in GTA3's directory.
