The Most Underrated GTA Ever

I said I didn't like it when you expressed your opinion as fact eg "VCS improved VC" but oh well I can't be bothered with this anymore.

Nice. And yes the improvement thing is a fact. Because VCS was an expansion to VC with more features and stuff (swimming for instance). But whether R* succeeded with this game or failed, it's up to the players to decide using their opinion. I for one thought of it as a success and enjoyed the game a lot.

Ok, firstly I am only biased against VCS becuase of all those glitches that piss me off.

That's the heaviest bias against this game. The glitches don't affect the storyline in any way so I never knew why everyone made such a big deal with it.

Here, VCS was a very weird GTA. It was heavily hyped but then when it got released, everyone started to complain about the glitches and then no one seemed to talk about it anymore. I do think that VCS is an underrated GTA. It had a great storyline and Empire Building was awesome but the real problem was that the game really lacked gameplay. There were barely cars or peds on the street when you drove by and there wasn't really much to do.

I still think LCS is the most underated ps2 gta ever, if not the most underated. I wonder how popular my opinon is?

VCS doesn't deserve to be such a underrated game, IMO. It's overall a great game, but I think one of the reasons it's underrated is because it's only for PS2/PSP.

VCS was great yet underrated, while I preferred LCS, I have to admit that VCS was very good.

VC is my favorite.

I thought VCS is the worst 3d GTA. terrible story, horrible glitches and disappointing empire building (too repetitive, became a chore to complete them for 100%). I'll give VCS one thing: Jet Skis. The Jet Skis were really fun and VCS is so far the only GTA with them. Other than that though... bad game.

The only thing I find bad about this game is that you have to be someone who dies in two years, at the start of VC. I also don't like it that your brother is Lance. But other than that, (and that it's not for PC) I think this is an okay game.

no0b? Isn't that (no offence) what computer nerds/geeks say sly.gif

Anyway, VCS really did f*ck up what was a good city. Underated means games that didn't get enough good reception, like LCS. Just because it's a story game people assume it sin't very good.

VC was underated becuase it had the best atmosphere , music, missions and gameplay, yet there are people who still prefer GTA 2, III AND IV.

VCS is a poor game which was full of glitches and pretty campy/pointless/easy missions. VCS wasn't a real GTA.

I don't know how people cannot get this fact into their head...

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is not underrated. It was the best selling PS2 game. Ever. It sold loads on other formats and was heavily praised and acclaimed, and still is to this day. That does not constitute as "underrated." An underrated game is a game that receives a lower reception than a game of it's quality deserves. If anything, Vice City had a perfectly equal reception, although these days it's slightly overrated because of that awfully delusional emotion of nostalgia.

Firstly, that does not deserve to be under a spoiler tag.

Secondly, there is no proof of that.

.:Alex:., actually, apparently, the very best selling game on the PS2 is either San Andreas or Gran Turismo 3. So yeah.

zeppelincheetah,

I came across exactly two glitches in the whole game - the cars-on-the-bridge glitch and the car-eating garage glitch. Neither is critical or game-breaking. Also, you know, you don't have to do all of the Empire missions or take over all of the sites. I did. It's not that bad.

Everybody who says that VCS is a very short game:

In VC, there are just 61 missions. And to get to the ending, you have to finish less than 33.

I agree with you word by word again.

And I have only ever come across the car eating glitch and that's it, and a couple of COOL glitches, nothing that makes the game as bad as people try to make it out.

Yeah but there were about 150 overall including races, pastimes etc. And in VCS there were 59. Oh well.

What? In VCS there were only 59 story missions, other than that there a bunch of side-missions that you can trigger by entering a vehicle. That made me think VCS was the longest GTA to 100%. VC was quite short when it came to side-missions. Now tell me this is only 59 missions. Remember every single race and stuff are not listed name by name so it would look like not much. In VC there is only four checkpoint missions I can think of (Test Track, Trial by Dirt, PCJ Playground and Cone Crazy). I think the main reason people say VCS is short is because the storyline goes pretty fast, in VC you have to buy a number of businesses that make the game feel longer and the same thing as with VCS is said about LCS because you don't buy anything, all the missions are unlocked one after another.

I was just counting the storyline missions, I knew about the side missions. Anyway, all 4 sunshine auto car lists will take ages, and the sunshine auto races and rc races . It doesn't matter, I wa just explaining that VC isn't so short if you include every story mission, race, rampage, pastime etc

If you are going to include the rampages, export lists, races and stuff for VC, then it's as fair to add the same for VCS. VC has only around 60 storyline missions, which isn't much either. I'm not saying it as a bad thing, but it's unfair to include a thing that is on both games for only one side.

Now. Look here:

http://speeddemosarchive.com/GrandTheftAutoVC.html

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtop...dpost&p=3429646

According to these guides, you have to do the Vercetti missions, the Printworks missions, and 5 other assets.

So, you do:

4 of Rosenberg's missions

4 of Cortez's

4 of Diaz's

5 of Vercetti's

2 Printworks missions

Distribution

Checkpoint Charlie

1st Sunshine list

Spend 300$ on a stripper

and the 3 Caufman Cabs missions - never Malibu or Interglobal Films.

Then, you finish with the last two missions.

Thus, 26 actual missions, 300 spent on a stripper, and six cars, all of which can be found on the Mainland.

Well I suppose your right there, but you could count in the beggining and the party as missions, as they have cutscenes. There are cutscenes in SA and IV that count as missions, but oh well.

I totally agree with you.

This is my favourite GTA game and it seems all the attention goes to GTA 4 and San Andreas.

San Andreas was brilliant, GTA 4 just seems good because of the high quality graphics, I dont think the gameplay or story is brilliant tbh.

I pretty much liked everything about Vice City Stories, especially the characters!

I don't know what it is but VCS is the most ignored gta game to date, it recieved pretty average reviews and didn't sell well. The PSP game was illegally downloaded by much of the community (I however purchased mine. I love the game, I believe that it is one of the best games from the series but somehow its predasessor LCS did much better in reviews and sales when VCS had more content, gameplay variety, characters and longer missions...but some how it was poorly recieved by critics and sales...WHY?

(evidence..this gta out of the 'new' series in the forum ranks the lowest in responses)

you think gta vcs is one of the bgest one's in the series?!? woooOOOOooow.

It probably because everyone expected a San Andreas Portable after LCS !

(In terms of features, atleast)

But it`s true that this game deserves some more attention, which it`ll unfortunately never get... confused.gif

Garage eating glitch can be removed easily!!! See Setting Garage Alarm topic. I have not lost a car since. There is no Garage Eating glitch anymore. Its only there if you want it to be. Trust me.

I too thought the game was underrated. it had some of the elements of San Andreas, such as swimming (something sorely missed in Vice City), and Empire building (a.k.a. Gang Wars, with more customization). Also, Vic's hand to hand fighting was my favorite of any other, in the 3d era. In the setting of Vice City it was fantastic! The story (though constantly bashed) I thought was great. I thought that Vic and Louise had a Romeo and Juliet, star crossed lovers dynamic going on. If my PSP hadn't gotten stolen I'd still be playing it.

All PSP GTA games are underrated because the previous console games are so good it makes the Portable one look... simple. GTA SA came out on consoles before VCS came out. Many people would have expected it to at least be similar to GTA SA in some way but guess what? It wasn't. And for that reason people did not look at the game's beauty but GTA SA's beauty instead.
