GTA3Freak-2001
Doesn't look very structurally safe, the door looks like its made out of plastic or something. Vanquish
This is actually a Lincoln Prototype that was recently sold on eBay (which can be found HERE). Of course, the idea never went into production because the lack of A-pillar meant that it has the structural integrity of a small Jaffa cake. Surprised some Sultan from Saudi Arabia hasn't picked up on the idea yet and tried it out in their own cars yet. *MURDOC*
I was thinking about splitting the doors on my truck in half horizontally and making the top half do that, while the bottom half folds down into pseudo steps. Fozzy Fozborne
Didn't the BMW Z1 do something like that? "Open" "Closed" Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/287720-space-aged-doors/?do=findComment&comment=4400848 Share on other sites
Starion
Ah, the Z1's door slided down into the body. This door folds. But they both serve the same purpose. To not have to worry about tight parking spots. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/287720-space-aged-doors/?do=findComment&comment=4400942 Share on other sites
*MURDOC*
I remember that old Caddilac concept that had the doors that slid into the sides toward the back, that was pretty cool. GTA3Rockstar
Well if they do go with it. They still need to have arm rests. I don't like it really Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/287720-space-aged-doors/?do=findComment&comment=4401058 Share on other sites
Picolini
That looks bad ass! Don't really under stand how it works though... looks like it folds up but the window is in there... hmm... As for arm rests, always drive with my left hand, so no need for me I love how these doors open though http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/33452939/ I'd say they have to be automatic, otherwise you're liable to pop your shoulder out of socket opening the door Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/287720-space-aged-doors/?do=findComment&comment=4406580 Share on other sites

*MURDOC*
Doors and seats should come together as one, like the Alpine show RLS from CES. CES Alpine RLS Pretty awesome showcar I think. Very strange too, the doors pivot open with the seats attatched, so you sit down and rotate back into the vehicle. Its also got 2 sets of pedals, an ambidextrous shifter and a steering wheel center-mounted between the seats! I also like the pivoting doors of the Koenigsegg CCR. looks like it folds up but the window is in there The door itself actually slides under the seats, so it doesnt bend or anything, the doors stay solid. It don't actaully fold down like it looks in the inside shot. As Murdoc stated.
