This is really nice actually. Really dark dancey acid. Going to check out more of their work.

Speaking of Acid. Haven't listened to Luke Vibert in a while.

And Squarepusher's brother, Ceefax Acid Crew.

While I remember, Squarepusher apparently has a new single out on the 6th December called "Vortrack". I say apparently because there aren't any previews of it anywhere and a couple of sites keeping taking down their vinyl sale page for it and re-adding it. It has no cover art and the only other song on it is a remix of the same single. I hope this is a teaser for an upcoming album. I'm weary of this band he insists on touring with. As talented as they all are, it's like a bunch of dads doing Squarepusher cover numbers at weddings. I don't dislike it but I didn't like having all of 2017 dedicated to it through an album of what is essentially covers of his older material. For such a forward thinking artist he's been stagnate these past couple of years. One of the most interesting things he's been involved with is an album of organ music with James McVinnie but I'm yet to track it down and listen to it. I just want him to go back to basics and start pissing about with electronics again. I recently heard his NTS set from this year's Warp 30th anniversary celebration and it consists entirely of unreleased songs. It's bloody brilliant.

I actually never listened to Squarepusher as much as I probably should. Just one of those artists I've only dipped in and out of, never really digesting his work enough that I could really hold myself as a credible fan. I must go back and listen to some albums. That's really odd that the new track listing keeps getting taken down and added again. Why do you think that is? Label issue? Clearing samples/royalties, maybe? Maybe he's out of his nut and is going back to remaster it/adjust the mix or something.

Keep meaning to listen to more of that Warp 30. Remember getting the email about the transmission.

Speaking of which. This came up on Spotify today as I was out taking photos at night. Lots of familiar sounds in these tracks. It's really laid back and chilled.

@Mister Pink

I would definitely recommend going back to Squarepusher's work, you'll find something in there that you'll absolutely love. As for the dipping in and out with his latest single, it appears I was onto something. He published the single on YouTube and announced a new album for January of next year called "Be Up A Hello". It sounds like he's going back to basics somewhat, which is a great relief. The single sounds great too. Obligatory epilepsy warning for both videos ahead.

The remix on the B side goes hard too:

Nice. I'll do that. I'll keep an eye out for the new release in Jan too. I'm really digging the b-side remix. It just has that level of sinister I love hearing in electronic music.

I plan on going on a long cycle today, will be a perfect time to check it out.

@spectre07U-96, Das Boot. is a classic track.

New Andy Stott.  Completely forgot about this guy. Saw him once back in 2012. I distinctly remembering been way more impressed at the live show than what I had heard which was Passed Me By (which I liked enough to go see him live). I also remember the whole venue vibrate with sub-bass and I could actually feel my nose vibrating. It was incredible. But this EP is nice.

By now, Andy Stott is the crafty veteran of techno/grime. I was aware of Passed Me By but it... well... it passed me by. I then saw Faith In Strangers and dug it, though it didn't leave much of an impression on me. At the time (and a little before) I was really into Actress and Gesaffalstein. They had a certain moodiness about their music, and from there I had a bit of a soft spot for footwork. I'll probably give it a listen, but there's so many styles and genres fighting for my attention span lately.

In other news, Kraftwerk are headliners for All Points East in 2020 at Victoria Park. I'm not much of a fan of live music, but I would absolutely break that resolve if it meant being able to see Kraftwerk in the flesh. It's a shame that it's about 300 miles away and probably as much as that in GBP.

I'm actually thinking of trying to make this. I think it might be last chance to see them live. They've been busy touring and are quite productive buy Ralf Hutter is 70+ years old now.

Also would be nice to see Johhny Marr who goes on before them.

Edit: Just found this channel. For any Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk fans, it's  "shreds" channel. Pretty funny stuff..

I know posted this a few pages back. I only got to listen to it the other night all the way through. It was a great experience. I took my camera late at night in to the city centre and got some night photography and video of lights, patterns, modern bridges etc. It was a freezing night but I wrapped up warm. Some of the long exposures and video captures really was going to the music. I played it off the app. Wasn't sure if it was actually BoC until I looked for it on YouTube and realized it was the mix you posted before.

Anyway lots of gems in this mix and I'm reposting it for sake of the topic.

Been listening to John Tejada lately. He makes really nice, kind of minimal but warm electronic music. I think his main focus is on harmonics and just layering. It just sounds very meticulous. Deceptively simple but very well-polished. It's where I hope to go with my own music. The repetitiveness is engaging and hypnotic because of the beautiful and often subtle changes and progressions.

The youtube feed comes up with something good from time to time.

Look at all these people happily stomping to 180 bpm and up. With some even their jaw is dancing to the beat. 😉

Also note: No f'in cell- or smartphones. People in this video are around 50 y/o by now, btw.

Arrows to Athens

Krewella dropped a new album, and it's decent. I like the touch of Bollywood music.
