Ok well I officially have all of Daft Punks albums although I'm not exactly sure which songs to play. What are some of their best songs that you can recommend me to play as I don't really want to go through all their songs as I'm sure they aren't all a hit.

Technologic for sure, also off of human after all Television Rules the Nation.

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger, was also great. I'm also a fan of Burning.

But no one can tell you the best songs, the only way to actualy find that out is to listen to all the albums all the way through.

I've been getting big back into Depeche Mode recently, wow.gif , any one round here know when their going to put out a new album?

Hey lads,

ya mum: some of my favourite Daft Punk tracks are;

Face to Face

Veridis Quo

Something About Us

Crescendolls

Voyager

Television Rules the Nation

Robot Rock

You may want some of the orginals too like Ewdin Birdsong's Cola Bottle Baby (Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger). They're nice and funky tracks. I'll post a vid at the end of my post you can check out.

@Tryst: Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan has just released a solo album. I've only heard the single on the radio and it sounded good. I think I'll get that next. As for a new album, I'm not sure when. Their last album Playing the Angel is impressive but you probably have it.

I thought everyone knew that about daft punk. They are part of a scene that borrows each others tunes and makes their own personal improvements. Thats what DJ's do, and daft punk are some great DJ's.

I don't listen to Daft Punk, but one day I saw a picture of them performing supposedly ontop of a f*cking pyramid with those masks and suits. Needless to say I had to look up some live footage of them on youtube and just holy sh*t. That had to of been the most amazing lighting I've ever seen. I'd definitely see them now even though I don't listen to them. Thats just f*cking astounding.

EDIT - The massive overplay of that song 'One More Time' or whatever its called has prevented me from ever checking them out. The music in the clips I saw were pretty cool though. I just hear that damn song at work so f*cking much.

Word, their light show is a sight to behold. Best live act I've seen, stage-wise.

Stefan.

Daft Punk is awesome. I'm not into Techno (I'm a House boy), but some of their stuff is just ''Taller, Better, Faster, Stronger" than a lot of others.

Has anyone here heard "Stronger" by Kanye West? That samples Daft Punk's song.

By the way, is anyone here into Fedde Le Grand?

I hate fedde le grand just because of "put your hands up for Detroit." It got so much airtime despite being really basic (and not in an artistic minimalism sense).

In other electro house news:

I wish i was old enough to goto parklife. I actually had a ticket at one point and then i realized i couldn't go. sad.gif Also too young to see daft punk in December. sad.gif

I'm not trying to be smart my friend, it's just if anyone is browsing trying to get some info on Electronic music I'd have to clear up that Daft Punk are House. Not Techno. To sub catergorise them you can say they are Funky House. colgate.gif

Thanks mate. Nobody at school knows or talks about their stuff, so I'm left to learn from you guys.

Thanks for the advice, mate. smile.gif

No problem man. Glad you like Daft Punk. icon14.gif They are a good starter for electronic music. Although I'm a huge fan of Daft Punk I feel their tracks can be very repetitive so I can listen to it to closely as I can with say an AFX (Aphex Twin) track or AIR. Although AFX can be hard to get into.

Kraftwerk are another favourite of mine but even some of their stuff is repetitive but they are in the top 3 of the most orginal and influential Electronic artists off all time. (well, electronic music is still reletively new but you get what I mean:P)

I just picked up Massive Attack's Mezzanine yesterday, due to the fact that part of Teardrop is used in House's intro. Quite an epic album. I think I'm in love with them for the moment.

Which of their other albums are worth a listen?

I remember seeing Daft punk's around the world video late one night as a was just getting into my bed (tv was in my room). It was on the top 100 songs (on mtv I think, or muchmusic) and was just captivated. I just couldn't look away, and it sounded so damn good! I also saw their da funk video and was impressed! It was my kind of sounded great. But practically no one knew about them. I was okay with this, but hoped that they wouldn't get swept under and never heard of again. This got me into the whole genre of house. Then I moved on to trance, some techno, goa/psychedelic (<-- if you want to have a religious experience, get high/shroom and listen to a solid goa/psychedelic track some where at night [man with no name's teleport did it for me, etc] and I guarantee you will have one. Some time passed, then they released their discovery album.

I remember seeing digital love as the first of their videos from the discovery album with the cresendolls (the blue people) on tv. And it just added a whole other dimension when listening to that album. It was like a story unfolding. Listening to that album was really something. I also got my hands of a copy of interstella 5555 and watch it late one night with some friends. Good times. I didn't care to much for their human after all album, didn't like it too much. There will always be a spot that I have for daft punk my in musical heart. Their live performances are very good I hear.

They're all good.

Face To Face, Harder Better Faster Stronger, Around the World, Burnin', Da Funk, Crescendolls, Emotion, Voyager, and Robot Rock are a few of my favorites. But you should try to listen to a whole album some day.

Musique is good too, I sampled it for a song I made.

You gonna say anything at all about those guys or are you just gonna start naming off random acts?

I'm listening to a few of Fennesz's tracks right now.

Little to mellow for me at the moment, I'll give them a good listen later when I'm in more of a mellow mood. I am hearing some kina cool ideas here and there though.

Wow, I don't think I have ever heard of a single artist said in this thread except Daft Punk but in my opinion, I don't really like them.

I ask people to name me 5 electronica artists and they always say OMFG DAFT PUNK AND UHHH.... I DONNO LOL?! Holy sh*t man listening to them dosn't make you cool and one girl told me she listened to them only becuase everyone else does but then I found out she really didn't... she just lied about it.

I bought two CD's today, one from eBay and the other one from Circuit City. Trance Anthems and Intuition Sessions Volume 1: South Africa with Menno de Jong.

Speaking of trance, anyone listen to ASOT? I haven't subscirbed ($40 a year) but my brother is a subscriber so I just listen to some shows on his laptop.

Anyone here own any mixers? I own a CDJ-200 and a CDJ-800MkII, they are pretty good for beginners. Damn man, synths and computer programs are expensive.
