BHunterSEAL
In Vice City (Miami), on the East Coast, the stations that don't have nicknames are preceded by the West Coast identifier prefix, 'K'. (KCHAT, for example). In San Andreas (Cali), on the West Coast, stations that don't have nicknames are preceded by the East Coast identifier prefix, 'W'. (WCTR). Seems a little strange that a game so devoted to realism would goof on that count. Does anyone know the GTA3 Liberty City stations? I'd be interested to see what prefix they used. Only very rarely does a station operate with an incorrect prefix. The only example I can think of is KDKA in Pittsburgh, PA (on the East Coast, so it should be a 'W'). It was allowed to keeps it's 'K' designation because of it's historical significance: it was the nation's first commercial radio station, first broadcasting in 1920. I don't really know why I noticed this. I feel pretty nerdy . Did anyone else pick up on this?
jnsg
I noticed this as well. I assumed it was just to make the station monikers "sound right." There are notable exceptions to the incorrectness too, such as KDST and K-ROSE (which I always accepted as deriving from its 4-letter identifier, not that I have any proof: KROS? KRSE?). Sorry, can't come up with the GTA3 stations myself.
BHunterSEAL
Good point about K-ROSE, I had forgotten about the four-letter thing. Actually, I had forgotten about K-ROSE and KDST all together, they do follow the West Coast system. The only unnamed radio station in GTA3's Liberty City--New York, on the East Coast--is KJAH, probably related to K-JAH West in San Andreas. But yeah, that has the K prefix, despite it's eastern location. Wierd. Completely irrelevenat, but wierd nonetheless.
