Rasdock
I'm noticing a problem with my gamepad all of a sudden, and I'm wondering if anyone has a clue what might be going on. I played most of the game with an old Wingman Rumblepad, and finished the game with a Saitek P2600 when that broke, and developed a weird problem afterward. Basically, if I'm holding down button 4, I can't turn right with the left stick. And, if I'm holding down button 5, I can't turn left with the left stick. I thought it might be an issue with the Saitek, so I tried with my Wingman and got the same problem (though, in this case, it's button 5 in place of button 4). I use button 4 for a fire button, and I noticed the problem when I tried playing Vigilante on a motorcycle. I wondered why it was so difficult to maneuver the bike all of a sudden, until I realized I couldn't go right while firing. An obvious solution would be to put something on button 4 that I don't need to use while turning, like a horn, but after 120+ hours, I'm used to that being the fire button. It's the same thing when I'm on foot, with a bit of a twist. I have button 4 as No and button 5 as Yes, and I can't more in the directions stated above when I hold them down. But, I tried putting walk, crouch and aim on buttons 4 and 5, and I could perform those actions while turning. Also, I can choose whether to use the analog stick or the digital pad for movement, and I get the same turning issue no matter which I use. There's a conflict somewhere, but I can't figure it out. It's in this game, because I tried another game and didn't encounter a problem. Thanks for any help. XP SP2 Nvidia 7600 Intel P4 1.5G Ram Edit: Another observation: I can't turn in those directions even if I use the keyboard for the function! N is no on the keyboard, and if I hold down that key, I can't turn right! So, I assigned G to no, and held down the G key. No right turn! What's going on? I know it didn't happen before, because I played a lot of Vigilante and could turn right or left freely. The only other difference is that I changed keyboards recently. I guess I'll put the old one back and see if that makes a difference. Edit 2: Okay, here's what seems to be the deal. When I assign No and Yes to buttons 4 and 5, it somehow affects the driving controls and locks up the right and left if I use those buttons. If I take No and Yes off of 4 and 5, it's no longer an issue. Since Y and N are reasonably unimportant, I'd rather lose the ability to have them assigned and keep the driving functionality.
