Banana
History Karma rating is an icon located underneath the member group and flag icons in a post. Positive karma is a reward for contributing to the forums, and is signified by a yellow, five-pointed star. Negative karma denotes punishment. It uses a six-pointed, darker yellow star, taken from the warning level indicator in the Grand Theft Auto games. Standard in many forum software, karma is used primarily as a tool of recognition of achievement at GTAForums.com. In 2002, the rules were substantially different than they are now. Users could receive both commendations and warnings (like the current system), but the scale worked both ways. Karma ranged from -5 (BUSTED!) to +5. Earning Karma The official stance on karma is that if you have to ask for it, you will not get it. Karma is often rewarded for work that contributes to the GTA community, such as authoring mod tools or creating databases of vehicles/weapons. It can, however, be awarded for non-GTA contributions or as recognition of members who have consistently demonstrated proper behavior on the forums. In 2002, karma used to be awarded for passing certain postcount milestones. One star was awarded at 50 posts, two at 100, three at 500, and four at one thousand. Of course, these were times when 1000 posts was almost unheard of, and a race to 3000 posts seemed years away. Certain members, when staff get annoyed, earn the distinguished title of karma whore, and some have been shamed with a special icon. Sometimes, if a member reaches 10,000 cumulative total posts, they will be awarded 'twinklies' or spinning karma stars. This is only the case if the member in question has three or five karma stars upon reaching this milestone. However, this prize seems to have been awarded less and less recently, with some saying that the 'novelty' of reaching what was once considered a near impossible feat now gone, especially with 10+ members of GTAForums.com having surpassed the 10K post mark. Three spinning karma appears as and the five spinning karma as Other variatons of the karma feature are 25 Stars, only awarded by the administrators for doing exceptional work for GTAForums and the GTA Network as a whole. manofpeace
I wanted to do this, but I wouldn't get any karma for it, so no reason. Good digging, sorta.

Stefan
I think its pointless to have a topic saying how the karma system works. Wheres Jayzamanns Newbs guide? I think that one explains it a lot, and should be pinned somewhere (if it isnt already). Anyways, this was a low blow attempt at getting a karma. Otter
In his defense, he's nigh but 13. I made the VCS Database while I was 13 (for about 4 months, then I turned 14) I don't care. You're above average, and that's great for you. It doesn't negate the fact that ol' Bananaface is still a young pup struggling for his waterwings. And possibly his Ritalin. What can I say? I have a lot of respect for square pegs, because once they find their way, they really shine. This really ought to be locked before the guy can hurt himself any further. You're past 10,000 It's not automatically applied. The karma level has to be set to +7 I think, and moderators can only do 0 to +

So these so called "newbs" or "noobs" wouldn't take much notice to it regardless.
