spyro_ie
I grew jealous of you so called "guitarists" and your guitar topic. The drummers are always forgotten, so here I have decided to make a topic about drumming, drum kits, drummers, basically anything relating to drums. I have been playing drums now for a couple months so my skills lack greatly. I have a Tama Imperialstar kit, black of course. Some of my favourite drummers? Joey Castillo - Queens of the Stone Age Niko McBrain - Iron Maiden Stewart Copeland - The Police Trent Reznor - Nine Inch Nails Dave Lombardo - Slayer Aaron Solowoniuk - Billy Talent Well thats all that comes to mind at the moment. Bigs
I've always wanted to learn to play drums. My friend's a good player and I jack around on his set all the time, but I'm no good. I like doing drum beats on electronic stuff though, lol.
Mullen
Can't play myself too well, but my dad's been playing since he was 'bout 15. Man got skills, I can show you some of his music if you want. His set is a Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute, it sounds like sex:
Scarface187
Here are my favorites. Neil Peart - Rush Niko McBrain - Iron Maiden Tim Alexander - Primus Mike Portnoy - Dream Theater Gavin Harrison - Porcupine Tree George Kollias - Nile I originally wanted to learn drums instead of guitar but due to them being a racket and not having enough space I had to settle guitar. Once I get enough money for a kit though I'm buying one and teaching myself. @Les: All of Neil's kits kick serious ass. I remember showing my friend the Time Stand Still video and he was like "His kit is absurd.".

TheDude5000
Matt Cameron - Soundgarden, Pearl Jam Listen to Jesus Christ Pose. Pretty insane speed there. Dave Lombardo - Slayer Listen to the drumming on Reign In Blood. Or watch Still Reigning (DVD). f*cking insanely fast.
Mister Pink
John Bonham - Led Zeppelin. Fito De La Parra - Canned Heat. Dave Grohl - Nirvana They are the only ones that seemed to notably stand out to me. I enjoy percussions very much but probably in more of the shap of a Conga or Bongo now. Haifaiv
Jon Theodore (ex Mars Volta) is a f*cking outstanding drummer. I remember seeing him play live with TMV and his sheer stamina and accuracy is incredible. The guy's a machine. Adam Pierce of Mice Parade is another of my favourites. Very technically accomplished and busy, yet still comes off as quite subtle and doesn't dominate the music too much. Oh and Todd Trainer of Shellac. Not a particularly great drummer, just a f*cking cool guy.

Statutory Ray
Any drummer in any doom/stoner metal band. Amazing drumming is a prerequisite for said genre, it seems. Specifically Dale Crover (Melvins, The Men of Porn, early Nirvana, also sings and plays guitar in Altamont), Coady Willis (Melvins, Murder City Devils, Big Business), Joey Osbourne (Acid King, Altamont). Other good drummers are Jeremiah Green (Modest Mouse) and Jimmy Chamberlain (Smashing Pumpkins).

spyro_ie
Can any of you drummers give a beginner(me) some tips on playin'? Currently I just have a routine of doing a quick warm up which lasts about 10 minutes, then play a couple songs I can play to some extent and then I try to learn a new song. I only practice an hour a day, probably should practice more and I've no idea what I'm gonna do come college time...
