Mr.Natas
Hellos, I just started playing Vice City and i dont know if these graphics are normal for the game... Im playing this game on a 7600 GS nVidia card and i got all settings maxed out...(Res:1280 x 1024 32 bits, Frame limiter:Off, Draw Dist.:Maxed, AA:4x, AF:8x) I got 2 weird errors: The first one is that even with AA and AF on textures that are further away just look ugly. (I got the same prob with san andreas btw) Pic: http://img209.imageshack.us/my.php?image=vcerror1kd9.png And the second one is that some textures are looking like 16 bit textures... Pic: http://img209.imageshack.us/my.php?image=vcerror2kv3.png Could someone help me with this...Or is this normal because this isn't really a new game anymore... I did read the readme's and faqs but i couldn't really find a solution... (My english isn't very good also) Thanks in advance!
Ring_of_Fire
That's perfectly normal, I too have that. R* messed up some of the textures on objects like fences/trees, and allows us to see through stuff by simply looking at the 'em - like in that picture, I see the ghostworld of Ocean View Hotel if you look carefully through the tree texture. Plus, looking at the scenery or terrain objects at weird angles can cause the textures to twist. Tips: 1. Turn on frame limiter (turning it off makes things move faster and you can experience tearing). 2. Reinitialize your Nvidia Control Panel settings (somethings they don't stick). 3. You might want to try 6x/16x AA-AF instead. 4. Provide us a close-up pick of Tommy Vercetti's entire body (hands, feet, face, abdomen). I'll be able to investigate to see if anti-aliasing has been enabled. 5. Good luck!
Mr.Natas
Allright, i've turned on the frame limiter at your advice. My AA/AF settings are normally 4x/8x I don't really see any diference when i put those higher (8x/16x) The only difference i see is my fps getting under the 30 I don't see any 6x AA option however. But here's the pic: http://img525.imageshack.us/my.php?image=vercettijw3.png (I dont know how to make good close-ups... lol) Got any ideas?? Ring_of_Fire
Everything is clearly normal then. Your antialiasing/anisotrophic filtering is working. Fact is that no game can be 100% beautiful - it depends on the game engine been used even if you have the most powerful graphics card on planet Earth. Read this thread: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=184770 It has useful downloads such as the draw distance mod and cam hack. Of course, there is also a camera glitch in the mission Martha's Mug Shot. http://img525.imageshack.us/my.php?image=vercettijw3.png I see no jaggies, and if been compared to when AA/AF is turned off, should look even worse. You have no graphics problems, silly! Satisfied? Here I can see right through the ground!
Mr.Natas
Okay, i guess i have to deal with it But thanks anyway! Great advice Heh, and i thought that when you looked through the ground that it were reflections...it's pretty weird.. But i'll go and see if i can find any tweaks for the graphics... Allthough the gameplay is most important of course Greetings from Vice City

Want to know what a real graphics problem is? Park any bike near to a Pizza shop's window or a pharmacy, you'll see that you can't see your bike when you go inside the store. Nothin' is being reflected nor shown. Some of the planes and buildings in Vice City are even fake, but some aren't. San Andreas had much more lively buildings and scenery. Mr.Natas
Yeah, im playing San Andreas too... The game looks better then Vice City imo, but still, the graphics aren't perfect But San Andreas is way more bigger
jnzooger
The thing on your ground is a faux reflection. They use translucent textures on the ground with a "reflection" underground. This was used in GTA III in the "Time square" area for reflections in the water.
