blue blaze
Who's work is it to invite people as a moderator or administrator?moderator or administrator?
Sillyhed2000
From what I understand, if you've brown-nosed sufficiently (and been helpful to boot as well as sufficiently active and with no marks on your permanent record), then they will discuss it as a group in their private forum. If there is a general agreement that the you are fit for modship/adminship, then they'll contact you.

HolyGrenadeFrenzy
You need common sense. That rules out most forumers. You just got quoted for truth. Hah! I love it! This is great. But I agree with not wanting to know. I am going to go back to writing in a manner that will inspire/invite attacks on my grammar and spelling now. Suckers! Note:Once again my Avatar/User tittle can be spread into my sentence with great humor. (I never plan it but it does make me laugh!) Tsuroki
Moderators and led-by's (users who moderate specific areas of GTAF) are chosen on a specific case-by-case basis. There are different variables taken into account (personality, history on the board, contribution to the community, etc.) when choosing someone for the job. Don't go out of your way to try and "impress" the moderators and administrators. Just be yourself and do what you normally do. If we're in need of additional helping hands, we'll track down the people that fit the bill. With that said, led-by's are often selected based on their activity and contribution to a specific area of the boards. In most cases, when it is clear that we are in need of some help in a particular forum, we'll poke through members we feel are capable of handling the job. Global moderators are a bit different - sometimes they'll be promoted from a led-by position, and sometimes they'll be plucked out of the masses for other reasons. (For example, I was promoted to global moderator after being one of a few folks who were taken on to help maintain the GTANet websites.) In both cases, I'd say about 75% of the time led-by's and global moderators are chosen by current the current moderating team. >> Moved to the Network Staff forum.
