Saggy
It's just, music from this general period puts me in such a good mood. I try my best to collect vinyls and sh*t from this time, but the old record player I used to play them crapped out on me a long time ago. It was nice, too, had a line-out I could record to mp3 on; though I'd rather find remasters to do that. I listen to most of the stuff from two like, Advertised on TV Compilations, though: The Ultimate Seventies and Legends of Rock I have all of Legends of Rock, but wouldn't you know it, some of the Ultimate Seventies TVs were turned into coasters by family members. I went all the way to 85 'cause, well, some of the early 80s stuff sounded like mid 70s stuff... Not like that still doesn't happen now days. Unfortunately since I really only have Legends of Rock and The Ultimate Seventies, I dunno much about 80s music, aside from a few Bowie CDs that I think were out in that time. Anyway, discuss. Favorite artists or albums? One of my all-time favorite albums is Fleetwood Mac - Rumors. <3 Second hand News and Gold Dust Woman. The whole thing just sounds pretty awesome, though, it's actually the only Fleetwood Mac I really like. Stefan
I love Fleetwood Mac with a vengence. You Can Go Your Own Way probably is my all time favorite song. The late 70s were the best period for music. Funk at its best, Hard Rock, progressive. Everything was clashing in. The early 80s were the best time for R&B. 1979-1985. You can see most rock ballads were made in that period. Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart, Foreigner, Rene & Angela, The Police, Eddie Money... anyway. I could sit here all night. So saggy, hows it been man?

TheDude5000
Meh, I'm more of a 1980-1996 guy myself. 80's were f*cking great though, I can think we can agree on that.

Twang of Cauliflower
I think, if I had to choose, I'd agree with TheDude. There's a good combination of influences from the past years, with precursors to modern music, with less of the bad.

Dun Filero
@TS 65-85 is a very broad time for any genre IMO. Me, I might feel like being a late 30s to mid 40s (with big band/jazz) kinda guy one day. Then, another I might be a straight up late 80s dude. I feel ya though. I would say the heart of my musical passion lies between mid 80s to mid 90s - yeah, that off-decade ftw. Stefan
I know shine on you crazy diamond was composed in his homage, it was a classic. I loved the first parts guitar solo in the beggining.
vacuumo
-1976. 2000- The period between was more or less a void of hair, tight, tight clothing and colors you wouldn't normally see, though it had its moments of brilliance. I don't care about the 90s much. Waters was a better songwriter, I think. Especially considering PF's post-Waters material.
darthYENIK
Pink Floyd > all. No, I'm not one of those "Classic rock radio" idiots that know a few songs and absolutely no history either. Led Zeppelin is greater than Pink Floyd, and Pink Floyd is greater than most. And yes this is just my opinion. Don't get me wrong Pink Floyd is awesome, but Zeppelin were gods in comparison. As for the period of time mentioned. It truly was a golden age in music. All around music, not just rock.

Exactly, if it wasn't for Gilmour Floyd would have probably broke up shortly after Barret started acting strange. Labelling Gilmour as "just a groupie" is incredibly unfair considering it was the other members who asked him to join them and that he was a big part of creating their greatest pieces. Bigs
Let's not forget Bob Dylan (who I saw live last night!). Oh snap, how was the gig? I've wanted to see him for a long time. What kind of set did he play, a lot of newer stuff? I really liked his new album, good stuff. My mom saw Dylan and Tom Petty in the late 70s, lucky bitch. And Dylan's in Indy tonight and I know some people that are going. Anyways, err, yeah it was a good twenty years of music. Of course every decade has it's highs and lows though. Well it was kind of weird. It was new scratchy voice electric blues Dylan covering old nasally voice folk Dylan. Like some songs it took me half the song to realize what he was playing. I mean, don't get me wrong, it kicked ass. But, he didn't play Hurricane. The whole place was shouting HURRRRRIICAAAANNNNEEEE between each encore song and he wouldn't play it. Bigs
Yeah that would make a weird combination. I remember when I first heard the first few lines of 'Spirit on the Water' from the new album, and I was thinking to myself "Those vocals are so messed up that I love them." But I do reckon him doing older songs would sound a lot different. Hurricane is one of my favorite songs by him, I wonder if maybe he doesn't play it anymore since Ruben Carter isn't locked up? Either way, great song.
