redwolf206
Jesus, I pissed at sony now...I really wanted a ps3, but i have no money now, and by the time i get the money, odds are, they'll be all gone. Oh well, im glad i got a 360 for now, maybe the 80 gig will end up $500 in due time...
Chargr
Well it will be like that for several Months so maybe by December is when you won't see any, its stupid of Sony to release a 80gb when you can just upgrade your 60gb hardrive easily.
Jayt001
It's just a big scam by sony, and they pissed some people off in the process. They say they're lowering the price to spark lots more interest in the PS3, then what a surprise, it's too good to be true, shame on you $ony. They reduce the price by $100 then add an extra 20GB to the 60GB to make it seem like its worth the extra $100, they must be really desperate if they are resorting to this kind of bullsh*t tactic, wel $ony if a sells a few more consoles... good for you ken. Capricornus
Hmmm. For some reason I expected this sort of thing to happen. Ah well. I only have to ask, what will you get with the 80 gb version? Sorry for not doing my reading, but it happens when you have college work to do.

Jayt001
I actually don't know why I'm complaining, the PS3 in the UK costs £425, that's like $850 which is rediculous! Why should where you reside have an affect on the price you pay for something like the PS3, it cost the same amount to make so where's the huge price leap come from???!!! I think they should et a price in Yen and then depending on the exchange rates calculate a price!! so everyone pays around the same, not huge fluctations betweeen different countries!! Attorney General
They are selling them at 499 until they run out "The 60GB PS3 will be available in North America for $499 until supplies of that unit are depleted. I have the game reserved for the 360 and the PS3...though I don't own either system yet, I plan to purchase one or the other. So far, I'm leaning toward the PS3. Death_Blade
Well, considering the way sony looked at this years E3, I dont think they have much to worry about. Sony looked extremely good this year despite the fact that most of their stuff is coming next year. But that shouldn't matter because its about long term, not just whats out right now. I agree though, its pretty stupid to release an 80gig, but then again, its not as easy as just replacing the HDD. Because the PS3's OS which you PLAY THE GAMES THROUGH is on the HDD, so sure, you can replace the hard drive but you wouldnt be able to play games unless you were able to rip the OS from the old HDD and put it on the new one. This is what I read as well, They say there is no real problem due to the many places to find these, like local Sears stores here that have them, I need my refund before I buy mine and no telling when it will come... There is also a sizable amount found SLIGHTLY used or new in box off eBay too
sainraja
Not quite true and this has been posted before! This claim was later refuted by Sony as an incorrect ; "Those quotes from David Reeves are not accurate. He said that if they had lowered the price in Europe, that territory would have run out of their current inventory by the end of July... As announced this week, SCEA's product offering in North America consists of a 80GB PS3 available in August at US$599 and a 60GB PS3 available now for US$499. We have will have ample supplies of both models to meet the needs of our consumers for the foreseeable future."
