8-Bit Noise
Whenever I play after some time I go into a car, and the game freezes and there is a repetive sound of the car, and I have to reboot. It happens a lot now, and it always happens in the Love Fist limo (I was replaying the game and now I'm on psycho killer), I have tried everything to clean the CD and nothing works. Then I tried to make an .iso of the VC play CD and mount it with a virtual CD drive using PowerISO, but at the very end, the CD would not finish the iso. So my question is, am I doomed to not play VC ever again (unless I buy a new copy or pirate) or is there a way to fix this?
Ring_of_Fire
Consult the bugfix list and the posting requirements thread. Once you're through, give us the relevant system specs and game info we need and consult Rockstar's / T2 Support as well: http://www.rockstargames.com/support/req_s...tar_Games,gtavc Problem #4:Vice City periodically locks up with the sound still playing. Solution: Disable custom MP3s or take a look at file names - it seems the game dislikes huge filenames for MP3s (e.g. "01 - Artist - Album - Song.mp3"). Alternatively: Re-install the game with the optional 'radio stations'. This means the game will run solely off the hard drive, thus giving better performance on most machines (although worse performance on older machines). Alternatively: Roll back your drivers - the new nVIDIA drivers apparently aren't the best for use with Vice City. nVIDIA drivers version 61.76 are recommended. The game locks up during the intro movie, or when I get in a car and drive. I have an ATI Radeon card. This is a problem most commonly found with the 9000 series of Radeon video cards from ATI (9200, 9700, etc.). Take a look at some of the solutions below, and see if they work for you. --Change your in-game resolution to 1024 x 768 x 16-bit or lower. This frequently assists users who have inexplicable crashes once the game begins. --As of May 19th, 2003, we've seen several problems related to using the Catalyst 3.4 drivers when trying to play GTA: Vice City. You may need to downgrade, or roll back, to an earlier series of video card drivers in order to get the game to interact properly with your video device. If you cannot find an older set of drivers for your Radeon card, we recommend you check out some general driver websites, some of which are listed below: www.driverzone.com www.pcdrivers.com www.gen-x-pc.com Following any changes to your system, you should always perform a series of file deletions (listed below) before trying to run GTA Vice City again. -- delete from the "Grand Theft Auto Vice City/models" directory the files "TXD.DIR" and "TXD.IMG" (if they exist) -- delete from the "Grand Theft Auto Vice City/data" directory the file "CAPS.DAT" -- delete from the "Documents and Settings/Current logged-in User/My Documents/GTA Vice City User Files" directory the "GTA_VC.SET" file. Run the game. One other solution you may want to try is to download and install a patch that has been developed to assist users who have experienced several graphical problems. Visit the Patches section to download and install the proper patch for your system. Please note that this patch is UNSUPPORTED. It addresses only graphical glitch problems; no other aspects of the game have been changed or modified by this patch. Then I tried to make an .iso of the VC play CD and mount it with a virtual CD drive using PowerISO, but at the very end, the CD would not finish the iso. Sounds like the disc is damaged or corrupted as in that case. http://www.kvipu.com/CDCheck/dlfile.php?fn=CDCheckSetup.exe or is there a way to fix this Try reinstalling the game fully, making sure the radio stations gets installed ont the hard drive so that you don't have to run it from the disc. It could possibly be a disc-read radio station error - but then again, reinstallation would probablby be not successfuly if that was the case. Not sure though. unless I buy a new copy or pirate You mean you don't have one, but a warez copy? Edited July 13, 2007 by Ring_of_Fire
Demarest
I don't know what that long post was about. The answer is quite simple. am I doomed to not play VC ever again (unless I buy a new copy or pirate)I think you meant buy a new copy or fix your current one. If so, then you are correct. Justin
Thanks Ring_Of_Fire, it was the custom mp3s problem, now it works. You should actually thank whoever came up with that solution all those years ago when it was added to the first bug list here. And you should spank yourself for not reading the pinned bug list before creating a new topic.
