sainraja
You are covered by the three year warranty that Microsoft just announced. If it happens to you, you'll just have to wait a couple of weeks.

beanmachine43
Just got a 360, and news came to me that my brother's girlfriend tried to play Perfect Dark (I know, wtf is wrong with that ho) and when she put it in red lights came on. She wouldn't specify how many, but I'm a bit rattled at the moment.

What if you already replaced your xbox360? Does the three year warrenty still go into affect? Yes, as long as it's the Red Ring of Death meaning the Three Red Lights that indicate hardware failure and if you already paid to repair yours Microsoft will refund that money. original gangster
Mine fell to the red lights about two weeks ago, been away for repairs for just over a week now.
Seddo
I got the red rings a couple of weeks ago during a session of Forza. I just got a straight swap though, so i had no problems really.
zacsonfire
I got it on my first Xbox 360. And my current is having problems of overheating so pretty soon its gone. Once it goes PS3 here I come.

~Neon~
damn good thing, because i opened mine up, so no warranty for me. At least you don't need to pay for games. What?! I did't say anything . Mine died a few months ago. If anybody in the UK has brought one from GAME, you can just take the box itself (no wires, extras, box etc.) back to the shop and they will open up a new console, swap the new one with you're dead one and you're done. They then deal with the dead one. In fact, they never even asked to see my receipt, it could have came from anywhere.

SIP YEK NOD
its not that "special" i painted it black a couple months before the elite was announced although i am considering making it special considering the number of games coming out this year

TheDude5000
Never had 'em, none of my friends have had 'em either. It's a shame this problem exists, with such a ridiculously large and superior gaming library the console has. It's like even if mine broke I'd just re-buy it(if Warrany was void) because it still has the best games and still wouldn't cost as much as just one PS3. spyro_ie
I thought I had it but luckily for me the next day it worked. Freaked me out though seeing as I only had it a couple of months. Quick question. What is the exact cause of the Red Ring of Death?
Capricornus
Well, I have had my 360 since 12/25/06, and it still works perfectly. I haven't experienced the Ring of Death yet. I also have an Intercooler, and even though I play my 360 for about 6 hours straight, it does no malfuntioning. But I haven't played my 360 in about 3 weeks, but I doubt it will malfunction. GTA3Freak-2001
My box bought September last year has been fine although it did have a bought of the "crappy DVD drive" where it wouldn't read discs properly but after sending it away and having a new DVD Drive installed its been awesome. Mafia Righthand_Man
Yep. Mine died about 2 weeks ago and it'll be at the repair center tomorrow. Hopefully it will only be about another full week until I get it back.
Hayden Stasven
1 year 4 month red-ring free here. damn good thing, because i opened mine up, so no warranty for me. I'm pretty sure MoneyMicrosoft expanded the warranty to 3 years.
darthYENIK
He means, he opened his Xbox up, and that voids the warranty.
Lycanthrope
I had the ring of death only one time. I was playing Splinter Cell DA, and the price sticker on top of the disk came off and into the machine, it over heated and raped it's self and everything around it. So I took it back to EB Games and got a new one. Then sold the new one for a PS3.

Is it still under warranty? I don't know....oh nice sig and member title by the way (that was from band of brothers) It has to be under warranty unless youve opened up the casing. The 360 hasnt been out for 3 years. I think youre in the clear, just call ms support. Of course I could be wrong.
dillon200
One of the easiest (and riskiest) ways to fix a 360 (without voiding the warranty) with a ring of death is to run it in a towel for a short period of time (until the circut boards heat up) the goal being to fix the cold solder which is a common cause for it to get the ring.
